PB hotel design editorial

At the edge of Plaça Coprinceps in Les Escaldes, where Andorra's principal commercial corridor gives way to the quieter rhythms of the Valira d'Orient river quarter, a grey concrete-panel building with deep-set timber-framed windows signals something considered happening inside. The Blackpine Hotel draws its conceptual energy from the Pyrenean landscape immediately surrounding it — the blackpine forests of the high valleys — translating that reference not through literal ornament but through an unwavering commitment to pale oak as the primary surface material, deployed across wall panels, ceiling cladding, bespoke joinery, and wide-plank floors throughout every space. The interior atmosphere is closer to a well-appointed Nordic mountain lodge than to a conventional Andorran hotel, and the rooms sustain that feeling with real discipline: upholstered platform beds in sage-toned bouclé, fluted oak bedside cylinders, recessed LED strips behind headboard panels throwing warm amber light across timber-lined ceilings. The library lounge — floor-to-ceiling shelving flanking an open fireplace, a large atmospheric landscape painting anchoring one wall — gives the ground floor its most resolved moment, the kind of room that rewards staying in rather than passing through. The restaurant maintains the same palette: pale ash floors, drum pendant clusters over banquette seating, a back-lit wine wall organised with the precision of a cellar. Throughout, the material logic holds — wood, wool, warm metal, and mountain light doing most of the work.

Our stay at Blackpine Hotel was simply outstanding. From the very first moment, the entire team made us feel at home. Everyone is incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely caring, creating such a warm family atmosphere that made our stay truly special. The hotel itself is beautiful: modern facilities, stylish rooms with an amazing design, spotlessly clean, and decorated with great attention to detail. They also offer valet parking, which is a fantastic extra. The spa is perfect for relaxing and disconnecting, and the hotel is located just a few steps from the town centre. The restaurant deserves special recognition. The food is absolutely delicious, and you can tell that every dish is prepared with passion. Eugenia’s mushroom croquettes were simply incredible—without exaggeration, among the best we’ve ever had. And that’s saying something because I don’t even like mushrooms! Her cooking completely changed my mind. A special thank you to Javier, the manager. From the very first moment, he took care of everything and made us feel genuinely welcome. We would also like to thank Fernanda, who looked after us in the restaurant with a constant smile, outstanding service, and amazing cocktails. And Sara, who was equally kind, attentive, and professional. Both of them made every meal even more enjoyable. Without a doubt, this has been one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back and will recommend Blackpine Hotel to everyone. Thank you for making our stay unforgettable!"

"We stayed here for a night while exploring the Andorra. The staff was so helpful, the manager came out to help us with our luggage and to valet park our car, and then the desk clerk took us up to our room, which was upgraded. The room was lovely, big bathroom, good size room with a separate seating area. We used the hotel restaurant twice, once for dinner outside on the Square last night and once for breakfast this morning. Breakfast came with our room. We loved the location, right on the Square where we could watch and listen to an impromptu music and dance performance and then take a walk around downtown. Compared to the other larger hotels in the area, this was intimate and helpful and I strongly recommend it."
