PB hotel design editorial

At the turn of the twentieth century, a French-inflected Belle Époque mansion on Posadas Street in Recoleta — its blue mansard roof, rusticated quoins, and elaborate cartouche-crowned dormers announcing the architectural ambitions of Buenos Aires's oligarchic golden age — was one of the grandest private residences in Argentina. That building, the former Palacio Duhau, now forms the historic heart of the Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires, connected by a garden to a contemporary tower that together give the property its dual character: 165 rooms split between palatial mansion suites and a more conventional high-rise, the two structures linked by a passageway through manicured grounds that feel genuinely Parisian in their geometry. The interiors carry that duality with considerable intelligence. Mansion suites unfold through deep white boiserie panels, parquet floors, crystal chandeliers, and canopied beds flanked by lacquered chinoiserie nightstands — the whole composition closer to a private Recoleta townhouse than a hotel room. Tower rooms take a warmer, more contemporary register: tall oak headboards with applied silver-leaf medallions, tufted linen upholstery, and dark hardwood floors softened by kilim runners. The restaurant spaces shift the mood entirely — one a double-height, steel-framed brasserie with Chesterfield banquettes and industrial pendant lights, the other a light-flooded glass conservatory that opens onto a garden terrace, its limestone floors and purple and terracotta seating lending the whole space an easy, greenhouse informality.

"This hotel as a solo traveller is perfect. I wanted a place to get over jet lag and have bit of luxury after my travels and it did just that! Every single member of staff I spoke to where so lovely and on my last night when I had an issue with the noise coming from the air conditioning unit, someone was sent up right away to fix it (12.43am). I very much enjoy the app and texting when I need something rather than calling. The staff responded quickly every time. The pool is where I spent most of my time and the staff were attentive and polite. The hummus and pita is so good! I also had a massage which was wonderful and the woman at the spa reception, her name began with D (I’m so sorry for forgetting it) was so polite. The bed was so comfortable, showers amazing. It’s everything I come to expect from the Four Seasons, I honestly didn’t want to leave. Oh also they provided me with a bookmark magnet and glasses cleaner material when I left my book and glasses case out. Such lovely details to come back too. Thank you for a great stay!"

"A very accomodating hotel in a TERRIFIC lcation. Rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The two ladies in the brekfast restaurant were very helpful and made it a wonderful experience. Laura and Veronica kept the restaurant clean and the food always plentiful and very friendly. A lady at the fron desk was also helpful with suggestions. I am embarassed that I forgot her name but she was from western Argentina and when saw I was in the hotel business she reccomended that I go and see the archetecture of the Faena art center and hotel which was wonderfull since it also brought us to the bridge of "mujeres" and the river to see and view. Even the bartender (with the great hat) was very friendly and helpful"

"I enjoyed my recent 8-night stay at the Buenos Aires Four Seasons Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The friendly front desk staff and management, including Renan Astolpho and Martin da Costa, addressed my needs and concerns and treated me with such generous friendliness. The beautiful, quiet room with its comfortable bed impressed me and the efficient daily housekeeping service more than satisfied me. I took a dip in the stunning outdoor swimming pool every day with the excellent, friendly staff there remembering my name, accommodating the lounge with a towel cover, and providing me with a glass of water. I dined on-site every night of my stay at either the Elena, Nuestro Secreto, or Pony Line restaurants, enjoying the delectable, huge tenderloin steaks at Elena and Nuestro Secreto and the sandwiches at Pony Line. And one last word – the in-room TV channel selection where I could switch to English on many of the channels made my stay even better. (Of course, I enjoyed local channels too, including C5N, 13, America2, and I felt fascinated watching Mirtha LeGrand’s Saturday evening program.) My heavenly lodging at the Four Seasons Hotel enhanced my life. God bless."
