PB hotel design editorial

Pressed into the vineyard rows of Luján de Cuyo at the foot of the Andes, where the high-altitude light of Mendoza turns everything amber by late afternoon, Cavas Wine Lodge was conceived as architecture that belongs entirely to its agricultural ground. The fourteen private casitas — low-slung adobe structures with thick rammed-earth walls, curved parapet tops, and flat rooflines planted with native grasses — seem to rise from the soil rather than sit on it, their warm ochre render drawn directly from the local building tradition of the cuyo region. Each unit is sited within the vines themselves, with private plunge pools oriented toward the snow-capped cordillera. Inside, the rooms carry the same logic of material restraint pushed against vivid color. Barrel-vaulted ceilings in smooth plaster arch over polished concrete floors softened by cowhide rugs, while furnishings introduce sharp chromatic interruptions — crimson velvet ottomans, a grass-green armchair, a headboard woven from striped Andean textile — against walls the color of unbleached linen. The main lodge, housed in a converted colonial-style bodega building, anchors the public spaces with wood-framed French doors opening to a colonnaded terrace, a lobby furnished with a low platform daybed beneath a sculptural chandelier of twisted grapevine, and a dining room where sage-green drapes frame views into the surrounding canopy. The whole property holds fewer than twenty keys, a density that keeps the relationship between guest and landscape unusually direct.

Awasi Mendoza Reviews

"We stayed at Awasi Mendoza from July 17 through July 20, and it was one of the most extraordinary hotel experiences we have ever had. The setting alone is unforgettable. Our private villa was stunning, spacious, peaceful, and beautifully designed to blend into the landscape. Waking up to the snow covered Andes Mountains felt almost surreal. Every view looked like a painting, especially in the quiet mornings and around sunset. What truly makes Awasi exceptional, however, is the staff. The service was phenomenal from beginning to end. Every person we encountered was warm, thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay special. Nothing felt scripted or transactional. The team anticipated what we needed without ever being intrusive, and they gave the entire experience a deeply personal feeling. The food was outstanding throughout our stay. Every meal was creative, beautifully presented, and full of flavor, with ingredients and wines that reflected the region. The blind wine tasting was an especially memorable experience. It was fun, engaging, and gave us a much deeper appreciation for Mendoza wine and the incredible vineyards surrounding the property. Awasi Mendoza is not simply a luxury hotel. It is an immersive experience built around exceptional hospitality, remarkable food and wine, complete privacy, and one of the most beautiful natural settings imaginable. We left feeling completely restored and genuinely sad to say goodbye to the staff. This is the kind of place that stays with you long after you return home. Awasi Mendoza is truly exceptional, and we would return without hesitation."

"Amazing views at this hotel! You will not be disappointed if you stay here. The staff is exceptional and provides little touches to make your stay special. The rooms are spacious and luxurious. We enjoyed the fireplaces inside and on the terrace daily. The options for events at this location were fun and engaging. We highly recommend the cooking class! It’s a must do! We had the opportunity to attend an olive oil tasting and tango show during our stay. Don’t hesitate to book your stay today!"

"This is a very special place in a very special setting. The staff are wonderful, there is nothing which is too much trouble, the individual rooms are unique and aesthetic, the food and wine is amazing and I loved the horse riding through the vineyards. We were there in the winter so it was cold but we had sun and blue skies and it was peaceful, I’d highly recommend this season!"
