PB hotel design editorial

Broadbeach's most recognisable tower has anchored the Gold Coast skyline since the Jupiters Hotel and Casino complex opened in 1985, its curved white balconies stacking in a rhythm that still carries the optimism of Queensland's tourism boom era. Rebranded and substantially refurbished as The Star Grand at The Star Gold Coast following a major investment by The Star Entertainment Group, the 596-room property received a thoroughgoing interior overhaul that attempted to reconcile the building's unabashedly resort-era massing with contemporary hospitality expectations. The interiors work through a palette of warm-toned oak veneer, blue-grey geometric carpets, and textured wall panels — the guest rooms deploying sculpted white headboards with a faceted, crystalline relief against dark timber surrounds, while the suites shift to ribbed leather bedheads and brass-accented occasional furniture. In the dining spaces, the approach grows more confident: the signature restaurant deploys deep-navy velvet tub chairs against floor-to-ceiling glazing, with cloud-form acoustic ceiling discs floating above pendant clusters that nod loosely toward Tom Dixon. Outside, the generous pool terrace — shaded by navy market umbrellas and framed by mature palms — remains the property's strongest asset, the expanse of water holding its own against the tower's curved concrete presence in a way no interior renovation quite manages to match.

The Star Grand at The Star Gold Coast Reviews

"We stayed in the Dorset. Was ok,not brilliant for the coin then another $25 for the privilege of parking there, which should be free in my opinion. Anyway $45 per head for brekkie in Harvest, nope sorry that’s not going to happen again. Seriously Star pull your head in,that’s ridiculous to charge that in my opinion. Do yourself a flavour people go and support local businesses close by that don’t charge that for an ordinary buffet brekkie."

"What a disappointing stay we had. The balcony room we had looked at the roof, the shower didn’t get hot, $60 to park overnight and the Harvest buffet bacon was inedible. Will not be back."

"We recently spent four wonderful nights at The Star Grand on the Gold Coast, booking through Luxury Escapes, and overall it was a fantastic experience that we’d happily repeat. Check-In & Staff From the moment we arrived, the team set the tone for the stay. A special mention must go to Sebastian at the front desk, who went above and beyond to get one of our rooms ready early — a small gesture that made a big difference. Our second room wasn’t ready until 3:40pm, which was a little later than expected, but the hotel handled it graciously by offering a $50 credit for the inconvenience. It’s that kind of attentiveness that separates a good hotel from a great one. Throughout our entire stay, every staff member we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely courteous. Rooms Both rooms were spotless and well-appointed, with truly stunning views and beds so comfortable you’d struggle to leave them each morning. The one area I’d flag for improvement is the bathroom — water pressure was on the lower side and the hot water didn’t get quite as hot as we’d have liked. A minor gripe in an otherwise excellent room experience. Dining The included breakfast was a lovely way to start each day, and the $50 daily dining credit for the hotel’s restaurants added great value to the package. It made dining in feel like a treat rather than an afterthought. Pool & Location The pool is excellent — a great place to unwind and soak up the Queensland sunshine. The location is a real highlight too, with Broadbeach and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre both within easy walking distance, making it effortless to explore the area. Final Verdict A few small hiccups aside, The Star Grand delivered a polished and memorable stay. The combination of beautiful rooms, an outstanding team, and an unbeatable location makes it easy to recommen"

"went to the star grand as my last minute hotel for supanova back in April. it was my first ever solo trip and it was the best trip I have ever been on, the hotel its self was amazing and the view from my room was great. I got room service most of the time as I was so tired after supanova and the pricing and speed of delivery was great, the options were also varied and different venues for the different meal times. the spa was the best and I highly recommend too!"
