PB hotel design editorial

Broadbeach's most recognisable tower has anchored the Gold Coast skyline since the Jupiters Hotel and Casino complex opened in 1985, its curved white balconies stacking in a rhythm that still carries the optimism of Queensland's tourism boom era. Rebranded and substantially refurbished as The Star Grand at The Star Gold Coast following a major investment by The Star Entertainment Group, the 596-room property received a thoroughgoing interior overhaul that attempted to reconcile the building's unabashedly resort-era massing with contemporary hospitality expectations. The interiors work through a palette of warm-toned oak veneer, blue-grey geometric carpets, and textured wall panels — the guest rooms deploying sculpted white headboards with a faceted, crystalline relief against dark timber surrounds, while the suites shift to ribbed leather bedheads and brass-accented occasional furniture. In the dining spaces, the approach grows more confident: the signature restaurant deploys deep-navy velvet tub chairs against floor-to-ceiling glazing, with cloud-form acoustic ceiling discs floating above pendant clusters that nod loosely toward Tom Dixon. Outside, the generous pool terrace — shaded by navy market umbrellas and framed by mature palms — remains the property's strongest asset, the expanse of water holding its own against the tower's curved concrete presence in a way no interior renovation quite manages to match.

The Star Grand at The Star Gold Coast Reviews

"I recently checked-in at the star in the Gold Coast Australia. The room was a disaster. It was filthy dirty it had not been cleaned for months. There was thick dust everywhere. The staff were rude when I approached them about the situation. I was told oh we will come and clean your room, not a problem and $100 credit which is £50 - declined. Just to clarify, I had booked five rooms all were filthy dirty and cost me AU$7000. They offered me $100 in compensation for five filthy dirty rooms. These pictures I have added are the dust that I found in the room and that is just part of the dust I found. The showerhead is filthy dirty with a load of green gunk on the top of it, showers filthy also in the corridors dust all over the picture frames it is just not a clean hotel. If you suffer from hayfever or have any vulnerabilities or allergies with your health, I wouldn’t stay at this hotel because the room is full of dust and you turn the air-conditioning on. It’s gonna swell around the room and make you I’ll. As staff were so unhelpful, including management, I decided to leave the hotel and get a full refund for my rooms. Putting the dust and dirt aside the hotel is quite tacky like a cheap Vegas hotel one that I wouldn’t want to stay at. If you want a tacky cheap hotel with filthy dirty rooms and corridors, then book the star if you want a clean fresh five star hotel go elsewhere in Broadbeach. You have been warned ! If you are at the star at the moment and you are reading this review, I suggest you get a wet towel rub it over all of the topof the picture frames the frames above the bed and the frames above the TV and you will see exactly what I saw. I was also advised by the management that they cannot guarantee that every room is going to be clean. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard from anybody who works in a hotel. Also, if you are staying at the store now when you’re reading this review put a wet towel at the top of the shower head and see what green Cunk you are going to find. It is absolutely disgusting and a health hazard. I’m going to report them to the authorities in Queensland. Its so bad."

"Rooms reflect their 80s build floorplan, but nicely renovated. Harvest closes at 10am for breakfast, which is way too early. No water in rooms."

"This was a Luxury Escapes booked package stay. A very friendly and professional hotel check-in courtesy of Arthur; who allowed us to access our Superior King bed hotel room early at 14:00. This was for a Tuesday mid week, 2 night stay. I know that this would be more problematic at weekends or over school holidays. Our room #1747 on Level 17 was very nice. I appreciate though that other stayers at this venue may not get such a "newer" room and on a such a higher floor. We found though the King bed mattress to be too soft + lumpy to our taste. The air con fan motor also had only the one workable speed = too loud. But otherwise a very comfortable stay room. Parking is best managed by 1st becoming a Star member and using that card for entry / exit of the otherwise $$ car park. In theory hotel guests should not pay more than $25 / day AND also in theory if you spend $25 / day on hotel services this should then get free car parking. BUT on checking out, the very helpful parking desk attendant said that I had no points on my Star card and this after spending for 2 nights of venue meals and drinks. He then was able to add the free parking credit but only because I could show him the printed receipts for these expenses. The joys of a slack IT system. We dined at the so-so / very average Harvest Buffet for an evening meal and then at the Chinese Restaurant, where the food std was way higher and as expected even dearer. The morning buffet breakfasts were only ok. Too crowded, too noisy (why such loud and inappropriate music?) and very mediocre food. Only 1 coffee machine working too. The omelette station also gets overwhelmed. Very sticky table tops too."

"Paid business rates for the accommodation and when we arrived placed in a room that was noisy due to air-conditioning asked to be moved was moved to a disabled room and while using the shower the water spread on the slippery tiles and I slipped and fell dislocating my ankle. When seeking assistance from staff they sent up security who were also first aids and their primary concern was to video. When I advised they should advise me of this, they said they were not worried about what I thought and recording my conversation was a priority with them over my injury. When I question them. If they were recording the conversation and they advised that it was their protocol and it was being done without my approval or acknowledgement. Then when trying to get from the hotel to the conference venue they advised that they could not assist me with any transportation the whole experience clearly showed a lack of empathy and support from the very hotel where my injury had occurred. After seeking some help with getting breakfast or lunch, I was advised to sort myself out. Not the definition of hotel customer service. Over bad experience, aside from injury."

"Had a fantastic stay at The Star Gold Coast. From the moment we arrived the experience was excellent. Lucas at check in was incredibly friendly, welcoming and professional, which really set the tone for the stay and made the whole process smooth and easy. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We also had dinner at The Garden and the food was excellent with a great atmosphere to match. The pool area had a really good vibe as well, a perfect place to relax and unwind. Overall it was a really enjoyable stay with great service and facilities. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Gold Coast."
