PB hotel design editorial

Stretching the full height of a 27-storey glass tower on Perth's Murray Street, a monumental mural by street artist Matt Adnate gives The Adnate Perth its name, its identity, and its most arresting architectural gesture — three figurative portraits of Indigenous women cascading down the facade in a wash of teal and ochre that transforms a standard-issue commercial tower into something closer to a civic artwork. Part of Art Series Hotels' long-running model of anchoring each property to a single Australian artist, the 2020 opening made Adnate's large-scale portraiture the governing logic of the entire building, from the street to the guest rooms. Inside, the tower's 223 rooms carry framed photographic prints of Adnate's murals above walnut-toned timber headboards, the palette kept deliberately neutral — charcoal carpet, grey walls, cobalt bed runners — so the vivid blues and greens of the artwork read with full intensity against their surroundings. The ground-level restaurant and pool terrace strike a notably different register: rattan ceiling panels, white-painted grid joinery, ash timber chairs upholstered in cornflower blue and lemon stripe, and fringed teal umbrellas poolside give the hospitality spaces a sunlit Mediterranean warmth that sits in deliberate counterpoint to the tower's more urban gravity above. The terracotta-rendered podium framing the pool deck anchors the whole assembly to Perth's persistent summer light.

The Adnate Perth - Art Series Reviews

"The hotel is drab and depressing. Rooms and elevator areas have grey walls and cheap grey carpet. Bathrooms also dark grey. Walls in the lift area have dark turquoise walls that are scratched, chipped and with some holes, so no maintenance done here. The first floor bar area is a nice space except for the many stained bench cushions. Lack of care and cleanliness there. Poor location. Unfortunately the footpaths closely smell of urine. Stables Bar next door has extremely loud thumping music which .is very loud in the rooms on that side"

"Staying at The Adnate was a last minute addition to our trip to Perth. With the Air NZ strikes our schedule was pushed out by a day. We were left scrambling for a nights accommodation for Valentines Day. The Adnate was one of the most reasonably priced and included breakfast. Of all the hotels we stayed at in Perth this was the best. Clean and comfortable rooms, delicious food - dinner and breakfast, and exceptional service. A big shout out to Asama on the desk who is a hospitality stand out for what service should look like."

"Excellent customer service, immaculately presented rooms, generous buffet breakfast, poolside bar, and more, makes the Adnate an attractive travel option."

"We've stayed at the Adnate previously and this was a staycation with our adult children and their partners. My rating is 3.5 (but sadly can't give half points) as it was defiantly better than average but not quite at the 4 mark. Reception staff were friendly and helpful at both check in and check out, we dropped our bags off early and headed out for lunch returning to check in at 2pm. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. There aren't any amenities e.g. cotton buds etc., in the room but you can request these from reception. Our son (19th floor) said the water pressure in the shower was poor and they had to wash the wine glasses prior to use. The pool bar/restaurant has a light and airy feel, however the seating was heavily stained and could do with a steam clean. Breakfast was reasonable, we went down at 9am and didn't see any replenishing of items. The plates are side plate size and I'm sure that this contributed to the amount of food dropped on the floor which wasn't cleaned up by staff (or the people who dropped it), making the walkthrough (which is narrow) a little bit hazardous, but didn't effect the enjoyment of our overall stay."

"We stayed for 5 nights over Christmas 2025 and loved it! The staff were so friendly and festive! Breakfast was fine, everything you could want, pool is only small but a nice lookout and surrounding area. Room was lovely and large and comfortable. Right in the CBD, loads of bars and restaurants within walking area, recommend the comedy club too!"
