Directly across from the Upper Belvedere palace gardens, where Vienna's imperial heritage sits most visibly in the landscape, a new-build tower clad in pale stone and arched glazing announced a confident contemporary gesture when Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere opened in 2018. The building, designed by local architectural practice Henke Schreieck Architekten, rises seventeen floors above the third district, its facade articulated by rounded window arches that nod — without replicating — to the baroque vocabulary of the neighbourhood. A dramatically cantilevered entrance canopy, its triangulated concrete soffit supported on slender columns, pulls arrivals in from street level through planted terraces. The 303 rooms were conceived by Vienna-based studio TTAD, which threaded the city's cultural identity through the interiors using large-format wall murals printed with ghostly monochrome interpretations of Viennese architectural engravings — palace arcades, ornate ceiling panels — set against warm walnut joinery, herringbone oak floors, and mid-century-leaning furniture in cognac leather and steel blue upholstery. The rooftop bar, wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glazing, trades on its elevation: teak decking, raw timber stump tables, and suspended bird sculptures animate a space where the Ringstrasse monuments and the Prater's tree canopy stretch to the horizon on clear days. The tension between Vienna's dense historical legacy and the hotel's deliberately modern frame is never quite resolved — which is, ultimately, what makes it interesting.

"A very modern, clean and quiet hotel 10 minutes walk from the main station. Lovely rooftop bar and breakfast. Only 10 minutes by subway to the centre. Area is a bit soulless so plan on going into fvd city."

"Room: 5 stars. Nice bedroom and bathroom. Location: 4 stars. Very close to the main train station. It is a perfect place if you will be using the train a lot. For example, taking daily trips to other cities. But it is not walking distance from downtown Vienna, but accessible via public transportation. Very close to Belvedere. Customer Service: 4 stars. Check-in was disappointing. Not only did not receive the benefits of early check-in, they could not even check us in after the normal check-in time and the reason was that another VIP customer checked out late. Other than that, other services were great. The bar tender was great. Great benefits for those with American Express Platinum card.f"

"EXCELLENT LOCATION AND SERVICE! What a great find! We booked through Chase as we have Sapphire Reserve credit card and therefore we we received an upgraded room and free breakfast. The service from the time we arrived was excellent. Very attentive staff that go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. The staff even offered to make an espresso while we were checking in. The gentleman (I forgot his name but he was from Turkey) was so helpful, even giving great recommendations and telling us about the hotel. The room was spacious and they included water in the room, which was nice. The bar has a good menu and drinks were very inventive. Great bartender (from Slovakia) who is very knowledgeable in making cocktails. The breakfast was very tasty and offered a wide variety. The location is perfect for exploring the city."
