PB hotel design editorial

Three neoclassical palaces on Schubertring, dating from the late nineteenth century and forming part of the grand Ringstrasse development that Emperor Franz Joseph commissioned to remake Vienna's civic face, were merged and converted into The Ritz-Carlton Vienna when the hotel opened in 2012. The facade visible in the images tells that history plainly — rusticated stone at the base, piano nobile windows framed by pilasters and entablature, a cornice line that asserts its Historicist credentials without apology. The 202-room property spans six floors and was converted by Auer Weber Architekten, with interiors handled by the Italian studio Randa Randa. Inside, two distinct decorative registers coexist across the guest floors. Standard rooms carry a warmer, more traditional mood — botanical-patterned carpet, walnut oval coffee tables, upholstered club chairs in taupe, tall casement windows admitting the green of the Stadtpark opposite. The more recently refreshed suites move toward a spare contemporary palette: ivory linen panelling, dark herringbone parquet, brass bedside lamps with a modernist stem, a low upholstered bench in chocolate bouclé anchoring the foot of the bed. The Atmosphere restaurant below introduces a dramatically different material note — a sculpted ceiling of curved brass and timber ribs arching over red leather dining chairs and verde marble bar surfaces. The basement spa, lined in pale limestone and dark mosaic tile, extends beneath the Ringstrasse cobblestones with a full lap pool.

"We were traveling with a toddler who fell sick and what a life saver it was to stay at Ritz ! They were so helpful and the customer relations executive Kareena went out of her way to get toys, stroller for us. Along with Doctor on call and everything else we needed."

"We recently stayed at The Ritz-Carlton, Vienna in early February with a large group of 14 people. Our experience was absolutely flawless from start to finish. Managing a group of this size requires patience and professionalism, and the team here exceeded all expectations. We want to express our sincere gratitude to the specific individuals who made our stay so special: Reservations: A huge thank you to Melissa and her colleagues. Their prompt and super professional approach in handling our group booking and last-minute adjustments was impressive. Front Desk: We were warmly welcomed by David, Katerina, and the entire team. Their service was seamless and incredibly attentive. Concierge: Special thanks to Oliver for his expert assistance and recommendations. Atmosphere: We must mention the wonderful Norman, who has a unique gift of making guests feel as if they are being hosted in his own private home rather than a hotel. Dining: The service at the restaurant was impeccable during both breakfast and dinner. Davide and Anastasia looked after our group with such care. Thank you for providing us with such unsurpassed service. We will definitely be back!"

"Excellent Hotel. Friendly, helpful, efficient. Comfortable beds, immaculate bathroom and delicious breakfast. Nespresso machine in room plus good selection of Twining Teas. Great location within an easy 20 - 25 minute walk of main sights. Hapsburg Palace, Spanish Horses, Cathedral, Main Museums/Art Galleries. Reception staff friendly and "relaxed" on arrival. Door-man friendly and helpful. Concierge friendly, helpful and very happy to help. We were there for 4 nights and staff used our names frequently. Thoroughly recommend."
