PB hotel design editorial

Three neoclassical palaces on Schubertring, dating from the late nineteenth century and forming part of the grand Ringstrasse development that Emperor Franz Joseph commissioned to remake Vienna's civic face, were merged and converted into The Ritz-Carlton Vienna when the hotel opened in 2012. The facade visible in the images tells that history plainly — rusticated stone at the base, piano nobile windows framed by pilasters and entablature, a cornice line that asserts its Historicist credentials without apology. The 202-room property spans six floors and was converted by Auer Weber Architekten, with interiors handled by the Italian studio Randa Randa. Inside, two distinct decorative registers coexist across the guest floors. Standard rooms carry a warmer, more traditional mood — botanical-patterned carpet, walnut oval coffee tables, upholstered club chairs in taupe, tall casement windows admitting the green of the Stadtpark opposite. The more recently refreshed suites move toward a spare contemporary palette: ivory linen panelling, dark herringbone parquet, brass bedside lamps with a modernist stem, a low upholstered bench in chocolate bouclé anchoring the foot of the bed. The Atmosphere restaurant below introduces a dramatically different material note — a sculpted ceiling of curved brass and timber ribs arching over red leather dining chairs and verde marble bar surfaces. The basement spa, lined in pale limestone and dark mosaic tile, extends beneath the Ringstrasse cobblestones with a full lap pool.

"What an amazing stay. From checking in to checking out. Cannot fault the hotel. The staff were amazing especially those in the club lounge. A special mention to Georgia (wine tasting ) Ania( mixology ) for their amazing professionalism. The staff at the lounge went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Nikolette was amazing. I cannot wait to return. The only downside was the roof top bar. Cocktails were disgusting and expensive. We spent 200 euros on poor quality and poor service. Very overrated. I should have complained the yuzo cocktail was disgraceful. Apart from that it didn’t deter us from the rest of the hotel. I would thoroughly recommend this 5 star experience. The best hotel by far in Vienna."

"We arrived at the hotel Monday afternoon. David checked us in at the front desk. He was exceptional. He was informative, funny and efficient. We had an interesting talk about people’s last names. The room was very comfortable and spacious. We went to the roof bar which was lovely. The view is not to be missed and service is friendly by Daria. The bar food we ordered was very tasty: burrata and cheese board. However in the summer look out for the friendly bees! The next morning we met Alexander at breakfast. He was so nice. We appreciated having the hour to share with him. We can’t forget Katerina at the front desk. She was helpful with all our requests and always was smiling. David and Katerina are true assets to your hotel! We would love to return!"

"What an amazing hotel right next to Stadtpark and the Konzerthaus. The room is luxurious in a very understated way with high ceilings and nice furnishings. The bed is extremely comfortable with crisp linen. The coffee machine is much appreciated. The bathroom is spacious with wonderful Diptyque products. The best part of this hotel is the staff - they are well-trained, courteous and extremely professional, led by the GM Ned, who was visibly present on the floor, which I'm sure makes a world of difference in hospitality. We were checked in by Katerina who was fantastic in anticipating our needs and made our stay all the more special. Thanks for an amazing stay!"

"One of the most amazing hotel I’ve ever stayed, even I have been to so many luxury hotels but they are so exceptional. Norman and his colleagues , All people at Front desk febe Luka , concierge Oscar Philip Rainer, spa Laura and Shapoor at the bar. I remember their name because they all treat me like their friend, and did the best they can to make sure I have a wonderful stay. I fell like home.I love hotels and wants to get a tour of hotel imperial and the concierge arranged that made me feel very happy! Rooms are large and beautiful, 100stars"
