PB hotel design editorial

At the western end of the $4.2 billion Baha Mar resort complex on Nassau's Cable Beach — a development that remade an entire stretch of New Providence coastline when it opened in 2017 — Rosewood Baha Mar was always the property charged with carrying the highest design ambitions of the project. Configured across 237 rooms and suites spread through low-rise villa buildings and a main tower, the hotel drew on the work of interior designer Champalimaud Design to translate a specifically Caribbean colonial grammar into something warmer and more personal than the grand-resort typology usually allows. The images confirm the success of that translation. A circular open-air bar pavilion — louvred clerestory panels wrapping a conical roof, the whole structure ringed by still water — achieves the easy indoor-outdoor threshold that is the defining problem of tropical hospitality architecture, here solved with particular elegance. Inside, two distinct room registers emerge: one playing dark-stained four-poster seagrass frames against botanical print drapery and whitewashed tongue-and-groove ceilings; the other deploying ebonised steel canopy beds, woven rattan pendant lights, and circular teal artwork above cream panelled walls, with wrought-iron balcony balustrades filtering the view toward the bay. A restaurant interior brings Portuguese-inflected encaustic tile floors, a curved brass bar counter beneath sculpted fabric ceiling baffles, and rattan seating into a room that feels closer to a well-travelled private collector's dining room than to resort food-and-beverage.

"Overall, a very disappointing experience. I was mistakenly expecting Four Seasons “like” quality re the physical aspects of the hotel and the service. However and disappointingly, the property is very tired with stained and dirty carpets, chipped paint and old bathroom towels. The service level and food good quality were perhaps the greatest disappointments. The food was poor and the service was indescribably poor. For one meal, we wait almost 90 minutes for our food to arrive (there were 4 of us). I have no issue paying for quality however this is very disappointing and I feel grossly overpromised and under delivered. The Rosewood Nassau is not a luxury experience, by any measure."

"We stayed at the rosewood baha mar from April 4 to 14 2026. We decided to stay at rosewood since they boast this is the ‘tranquility’ of the 3 resorts the quiet resort non party place. Although it is more expensive it was worth it for us we did not want a noisy party hotel. Sat night they held an even I think a wedding….. the noise from the music was ridiculous …there was no warning or notice that this was happening. They have failed to provided what they claimed would be a quiet tranquil holiday. This was extremely stressful for us and of course we will never come back again….but i will be sure to warn anyone i know that this is not worth the extra money since they claim to be something they are not….we feel duped and taken advantage of…. Extremely unfair. You are better off staying at the reputed party hotel because this is no different and you pay extra."

"This goes down as one of the most disastrous hotels I've ever stayed at. They charge 7 star hotel prices, but what you receive is lower than what you can get at a holiday inn. For starters, we arrived to the hotel only to be greeted by staff members who had ZERO interest in us being there. That's what we get for $3k a night? No welcome, no excitement at the front desk? We got there early in the morning, and when I asked the manager if he had an ETA of when our room may be ready, his reaction was almost like I'd cursed at him. Zero empathy, zero customer service. The ENTIRE trip I didn't get a wink of sleep. I kept calling them about stronger pillows, and they would keep bringing up feather, extremely light pillows. The bathrooms had NOTHING to offer; shampoos and conditioners were constantly empty, they had bars for soap rather than sanitary ones you can pump out. When I kept calling them downstairs for the thermometer not working, they phone would just keep ringing. The manager also CONFESSED that their floors and walls were extremely light. Worst of all, at $3K a night, it was INSANE to me how much they had hijacked their food and drink prices to just basically RIP PEOPLE off of mediocre, untasteful food. The food was horrible, especially at Cafe Boloud. I can keep going on, but I WILL NOT BE RETURNING EVER to this hotel. Horrible time and waste of my money."
