PB hotel design editorial

At the tip of St. George's Peninsula, where a seventeenth-century British fortification juts into the electric turquoise of the North Atlantic, the St. Regis Bermuda Resort was built on one of the island's most historically charged plots of land. The white-rendered massing steps back from the coastline in a series of terraced floors — the stepped Bermudian rooflines and pale limestone-coloured facades absorbing the vernacular without becoming pastiche — while the ruins of Fort St. Catherine sit directly below on the headland, their thick artillery walls forming an extraordinary counterpoint to the hotel's crisp contemporary geometry. Opened in 2021, the 120-room property arrived as Bermuda's first new luxury resort in decades, its position adjacent to a UNESCO World Heritage Site shaping every decision about scale and material. Inside, the interiors move between two registers. The suites layer Carrara marble bedside platforms, warm walnut millwork, and sculptural brass bedhead lanterns in a palette of cream, sand, and deep teal — materials that carry the Atlantic light without competing with the views beyond the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors. The restaurant takes a more relaxed approach, with rattan-backed dining chairs, open shelving displaying model tall ships, and shiplap detailing that anchors the space in Bermuda's maritime history. The infinity pool, tiled in deep charcoal mosaic, dissolves visually into the horizon, the edge-line drawn taut between the Atlantic and the sky above it.

"My wife and I just returned from our 8th trip in the past 10 years to Bermuda, where we have stayed at several different hotels, and 2nd consecutive year staying at the St Regis. I can say unequivocally, that we won’t be staying anywhere but the St Regis during future vacations. As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I travel quite frequently, often staying at 5 star hotels. If you are looking for a truly relaxing vacation this is as good as it gets. From the time our plane took off from JFK Airport, we were at the resort in 2 hours 20 minutes. There is no more beautiful spot in Bermuda, and perhaps the entire Caribbean, than the St Regis, located in St George, a very quiet town on the northern part of the island. There are unbelievable water views no matter which direction you face. The town of St George is only a 10 minute walk from the resort, and has many quant stores and restaurants. Our favorite restaurant was Wahoo’s Bistro. The beach is large and private, and with two pools, there is never an issue finding chaises at either location. The property is well maintained, and easy to get around. The Five Forts Golf course is adjacent to the property. It is a 4500 yard, fairly challenging course, that has breathtaking water views from many of the holes. When not golfing, we enjoyed walking the course. There is a single restaurant on site, Lina, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Each day, there are three very different dining concepts, with lunch being good, but nothing special. However, breakfast & dinner were both extraordinary. The buffet breakfast had dozens of cold & hot options, including made to order omelets. It was the best meal of the day, every day. Dinner was equally as good, with a very diverse ala carte menu. The beef tenderloin was terrific, and my wife really enjoyed the salmon. Within steps of the resort is another restaurant, Achilles, which was also very good. The staff was what you would expect from a St Regis, exceeding our expectations. We were usually greeted by name, and it seemed like they were able to anticipate our needs, whether at the pool, restaurant or on the grounds. A special thanks to the General Mgr. Leslie and Front Desk Mgr. Dinelle, who really went out of their way to assist us. The servers, Miguel and April stood out, but there are unfortunately too many that deserve praise for me to mention everyone. I highly recommend the St Regis Bermuda if you are looking for a relaxing vacation with a beach, pool, golf and a spa."

"Gorgeous location & extremely kind staff! Rudolph, Tanya, McRae, & Ty, only to name a few, were most terrific to us during our 7 night stay! We also had the best waiter ever, on our visits to Lina. He was an added delight to the fine cuisine on their revamped menu! The rooms were clean, spacious, & cozy, all at the same time. You could draw the two extremely wide wooden doors together, to block off the bath, shower, & water closet areas completely from the bedroom, television, balcony, & sofa/couch area. Leaving the water closet light on nightly, while drawing those doors almost closed/left slightly opened, was the perfect night setting, along with the Blackout & Gossamer curtains closed to the balcony. We loved having coffee every morning on our ocean front balcony, from the epresso service provided in each room, as well as our daily scheduled coffee service delivery. We rented a Swizzle from the great folks at Localmotion Ltd., BermiTime. Outlets for the EV's were provided in the golf cart lot out front, by the golf course. A perfect stay, indeed!! Thank you All! L.A. & Michael"

"The rooms were totally inadequate. There was a huge bathtub in the middle of the room so there was nowhere to sit only a hard desk chair. Towels never replenish. Was not able to get any food from 11:00 to noon. Very disappointed because have been to many st Regis around the world. Found this one very lacking"

"We had an amazing stay at The St. Regis Bermuda. The entire staff was kind, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel taken care of from the moment we arrived. What really stood out was how peaceful the whole experience was. Everything about the property felt calm, thoughtful, and easy in the best way. By the end of the stay, it honestly felt like our nervous systems had reset. It was exactly the kind of experience we needed. I especially want to call out Nelson, who made a big impression on us. He was incredibly warm, professional, and helpful, and he really helped make the stay feel even more special. You can tell he cares about the guest experience, and it showed. Big thank you to Nelson and the rest of the team for such a great stay. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already looking forward to coming back."
