PB hotel design editorial

At the tip of St. George's Peninsula, where a seventeenth-century British fortification juts into the electric turquoise of the North Atlantic, the St. Regis Bermuda Resort was built on one of the island's most historically charged plots of land. The white-rendered massing steps back from the coastline in a series of terraced floors — the stepped Bermudian rooflines and pale limestone-coloured facades absorbing the vernacular without becoming pastiche — while the ruins of Fort St. Catherine sit directly below on the headland, their thick artillery walls forming an extraordinary counterpoint to the hotel's crisp contemporary geometry. Opened in 2021, the 120-room property arrived as Bermuda's first new luxury resort in decades, its position adjacent to a UNESCO World Heritage Site shaping every decision about scale and material. Inside, the interiors move between two registers. The suites layer Carrara marble bedside platforms, warm walnut millwork, and sculptural brass bedhead lanterns in a palette of cream, sand, and deep teal — materials that carry the Atlantic light without competing with the views beyond the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors. The restaurant takes a more relaxed approach, with rattan-backed dining chairs, open shelving displaying model tall ships, and shiplap detailing that anchors the space in Bermuda's maritime history. The infinity pool, tiled in deep charcoal mosaic, dissolves visually into the horizon, the edge-line drawn taut between the Atlantic and the sky above it.

"The Saint Regis Hotel boasts an excellent location. It offers a secluded feel while still being close to the airport, with a beautiful beach right at your doorstep. The food was quite good overall, and the general service level was excellent. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of the standards expected from a Saint Regis property. The rooms were mediocre, and the overall decor lacked character and elegance. The vibe was lacking for this brand. Attention to detail was noticeably absent throughout our stay. We booked several rooms and cabanas for a major corporate event, and the planning process was extremely frustrating. Over nine months of preparation, our main contact changed multiple times, forcing us to restart communication repeatedly. Even up to the night before the event, details were still being mixed up or missed entirely. On-site issues included cabana service that felt short-staffed and inattentive — waiters frequently forgot orders, and despite reserving cabanas, they were often not properly serviced (no towels, etc.). Our meeting rooms were consistently too cold despite multiple requests to adjust the temperature, and the technical equipment repeatedly failed to work. Most disappointing of all, our VIP rooms were given to the wrong guests. For the price point and reputation of the Saint Regis brand, we were very disappointed in the lack of attention to detail and execution. While the location and beach are highlights, the operational and service inconsistencies made this a frustrating experience for a high-end corporate event."

"We just celebrated our anniversary at The St. Regis Bermuda, which exceeded our expectations. The beach is absolutely stunning, the rooms spacious and comfortable and the service excellent - warm and attentive. St. George’s Parish is sleepy but well worth the visit for its charm snd historical significance, and we enjoyed exploring Fort St. Catherine. Highly recommend for a relaxing, peaceful getaway."

"This was our first trip to Bermuda. This resort is absolutely beautiful and the accommodations are fantastic. The rooms are large and immaculate. The staff is wonderful. There are classes on everything from wine to making Bloody Mary's (which are the best we have ever tasted). We learned the history of Rum in a class taught by Rags, the perfect person at the bar, and celebrated traditions dating back to the founding of the St. Regis brand by the Astor family. The pool areas are well kept and enjoyable. The beach is clean and fun. The Lina restaurant was really a great experience for us. The food was excellent, but Jack and the other staff were kind, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Our check in and check out was with Christine who was absolutely the best and charming. We so enjoyed our stay for almost a week. We will be back."

"Went for a girls spa day with my cousin and had the BEST time! Megan was so welcoming and walked us through everything to expect for the day (She also welcomed us with water or prosecco!) I had Alexandra (Alex) and my cousin had Tessa. Both were *amazing* and gave us both the bespoke facials. The room was clean, gorgeous and we had such a relaxing time (i even snored at one point passing out from the mask/massage combo haha). For a 30 minute facial, we left feeling like we were there for hours lol. I can’t wait to come back!"

"Beautiful hotel, great service , clean rooms, lovely beach. 5th to Bermuda, 1st time at the St Regis. If you want to just lay back and relax in luxury, this is the right hotel. Great beach , although public, was very quiet. Super attentive beach staff and servers. So pleasant to come across each morning. Food in the restaurant was great. Breakfast gets a little busy. Spa was so so , massage was mediocre. Rooms were well appointed and clean. 5 stars. Travelled with our 4 and 7 year old to celebrate my 40th birthday . Lovely views from the balcony and lovely birthday amenity upon check in. Great stay."
