PB hotel design editorial

Along Norodom Boulevard in Phnom Penh's Tonle Bassac district, where the Cambodian capital's new skyline pushes steadily upward from the riverbank, Somerset Norodom Phnom Penh represents CapitaLand's extended-stay brand at its most considered — a property that earns its place in a city still calibrating the relationship between rapid development and liveable urban design. The entrance canopy, visible in the images, makes a strong first impression: a perforated timber-effect lattice ceiling suspended over travertine steps and a low water feature, the whole facade glazed in dark steel-framed floor-to-ceiling panels that frame the reception desk and lounge beyond like a lantern at dusk. Inside, the lobby deploys a seating arrangement of Hans Wegner-referencing shell chairs around a curved banquette in warm grey upholstery, slender black pendant tubes dropping at irregular intervals from a white ceiling, and a rear wall clad in vertical timber battens that absorbs sound and adds warmth without announcing itself. The apartments carry a palette of taupe wallcovering, dark-stained oak joinery, and pale area rugs over engineered timber floors — long-stay pragmatism dressed in restrained hospitality language. From the rooftop infinity pool, the Tonle Sap and Mekong confluence spreads across the horizon at sunset, the city's low colonial roofline giving way to towers mid-distance — a view that quietly reframes Phnom Penh as a capital in confident transition.

Somerset Norodom Phnom Penh Reviews

"This is a wonderfully run, well-priced serviced apartment property that genuinely delivers on comfort, cleanliness, and care. Whether you're in town for business or an extended leisure stay, it offers the kind of thoughtful, apartment-style living that makes you feel settled rather than just passing through. The staff alone are worth the stay - warm, proactive, and consistently excellent. Add a great gym, a rooftop pool with city views, and spacious rooms with full kitchen facilities, and this place earns its reputation as one of the more comfortable addresses in the city. In short, this is a Luxurious ASCOTT that is masquerading as a simple Somerset property! Well done and certainly a Hidden Gem of Phnom Penh! LOCATION: Tucked into the quiet, residential Chamkar Mon district on Street 41, the property sits on a peaceful stretch away from the noise and chaos of central Phnom Penh — which is a genuine blessing if you value your sleep. It's close to several embassies, Aeon Mall is just 2 km away, and a handy Chinese market is a short walk around the corner. Grab rides are cheap and available around the clock, making the city fully accessible without the hassle of being in the thick of it. DINE + DRINK: Breakfast is served at the Lounge in the hotel, and is pretty decent for a serviced apartment kind of property. For everything else, the in-room kitchenette lets you cook on your own terms, which is a real advantage for longer stays. The nearby neighbourhood has a growing dining scene, and with Grab, authentic local restaurants and good international options are just a short ride away. ROOM: We stayed in Apartment 1801, which was a ONE BEDROOM PREMIER, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage, and come with a lovely living room and a nice bedroom area; VIEW: Spectacular views of the cityscape from the surprisingly LARGE Balcony attached to the room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM: Good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good spa quality toiletries by ORGANICA brand FACILITIES: The gym and pool are undoubtedly THE HIGHLIGHTS of the property! Both are located on the rooftop and come with million-dollar views of the cityscape and the meandering River. The Gym is a stunner and an absolute standout - well-equipped, spacious, and well-maintained with serious hardware that rivals dedicated fitness centres. The infinity swimming pool feels like you could be staying at a Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons. Well done! For families, solo business travellers, and long-stay residents alike, the property has enough to keep you comfortable without ever leaving the building. SERVICE: Friendly staff who cared for all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home and well taken care of. Special Shout-out to VOLEAK from Guest Services (she was a true rockstar!) for enhancing our stay experience. Thanks to Mr.Alden Chong (Director of Sales) and SKY from the front office for a warm welcome experience. The Service is arguably the crown jewel of this property. The team here sets a standard that branded five-star hotels could learn from. The front desk goes well beyond check-in and check-out - receiving deliveries, managing room accounts, remembering personal details, and handling unusual requests without hesitation. Housekeeping is thorough, consistent, and keeps the rooms in excellent shape throughout the stay. The management clearly sets a high bar for hospitality, and it shows in every interaction. This is Southern-meets-Cambodian warmth at its most genuine. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good! Big Smart TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages. One in each of the rooms. The best part is the TV comes with an incredibly loud SOUND BAR that makes the viewing experience a delight and almost like a home theatre!"

"Somerset Norodom Phnom Penh is a wonderful place to stay . It has a very cozy environment and it’s a great place to relax. The building and rooms are very well kept and the staff is very accommodating. The supervisors Mr Sambath and Mr Savat are very professional and make sure everything is well maintained at somerset . The Housekeeping manager Mr Young Bou and his staff are great and always made sure my room was spotless and had all the necessary things for a comfortable stay . Ms Chanleng and Ms Voucheang were my housekeepers and did an outstanding job . The staff at reception were also very helpful, Mr sky at reception helped me make sure I found things around town and got to my destination. I really like the Somerset brand because the room has a kitchen and a washing machine and I can cook and take care of my things as I please . I also like to keep fit and Somerset has a great gym and a beautiful pool for doing laps or just relaxing.
