PB hotel design editorial

Among Montreal's financial district towers, a slim 14-storey building announces itself through sheer chromatic audacity — its facade wrapped in a grid of multicoloured window frames cycling through every frequency of the spectrum, an exterior that functions less as architecture and more as a large-scale artwork dropped into a canyon of grey glass and limestone. Le Germain Montreal, which opened in 2018 on McGill College Avenue near the Quartier des Spectacles, was designed by Provencher Roy, with the kaleidoscopic cladding conceived as a deliberate provocation against corporate downtown restraint. The 149-room tower carries that energy from street level upward, where the colour gives way entirely. Inside, the interiors settle into something cooler and more considered — a palette of warm ash, charcoal, and raw concrete that lets the rooms breathe without competing with the building's exterior theatrics. The guestrooms feature exposed concrete slab ceilings left unfinished, vertical slatted wood headwall panels in natural timber, and Eero Aarnio-style transparent bubble chairs suspended from the ceiling as freestanding conversation pieces, their chrome hardware catching whatever light filters through the linen sheers. The ground-floor bar runs a marble counter alongside walnut millwork and terrazzo flooring, with black leather stools on slender iron frames; the restaurant above it deploys cantilever chairs with tan leather slings — somewhere between Marcel Breuer and mid-century Italian — against full-height glazing that turns McGill College into a living backdrop after dark.

"The hotel is lovely but what made our stay exceptional was the absolute professionalism of the hotel staff Whoever is recruiting such an amazing team , your assessment process is 100% Most of the staff we encountered were young but absolutely committed to great customer service , from the lovely reception staff member when we checked in to the breakfast serving staff We also briefly met our room service staff who were also exceptional We wished we’d stayed at this chain in Quebec instead of the lack lustre hotel we were in The hotel has a modern feel Rooms are small but well designed and very clean Good quality toiletries provided in refillable containers , not the individual use ones We ate breakfast there which was good We had a couple of issues ( ham in our veggie omelette) but they were sorted out quickly and professionally I cannot praise this hotel enough You will be our go to choice in future"

"I've never done a review before but my experience was so good it's worth sharing. First time staying at this hotel for a conference and had a great experience. Very helpful staff. Special shout out to Gaetan, who was the main point of contact for the event. He was fantastic - anticipating needs and offering a level of personal service I've never experienced: I asked him if he could recommend where to get authentic Montreal bagels near the hotel so I could take some home. He went so far as to pick some up for me! Absolutely amazing personal service! Looking forward to returning."

"We stayed here for 3 nights and then again for another night after a quick trip to quebec and we loved it! Our travel agent had told the hotel we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and a beautiful bunch of flowers greeted our arrival! What a lovely touch after a long flight from the uk! Our room and the hotel location were perfect! We loved the modern and clean design of the bathroom and the shower was fantastic! From the hotel we were able to walk down to the sights of the old town and also up to mount royal. What really made our stay so special was the welcome from reception staff when we returned , quite late at night, from a one night stay in quebec! For a large and city based hotel we felt so at home! Thank you!"
