PB hotel design editorial

Pressed between the Air Canada Centre and a cluster of mixed-use towers at Maple Leaf Square, Toronto's most sports-saturated intersection gave Le Germain Hotel Toronto Maple Leaf Square an unusual design brief: find calm inside one of the city's loudest urban nodes. The hotel's lower floors are wrapped in dark-toned composite cladding with a tight grid of aluminum-framed windows, the massing anchored at street level by the Eleven restaurant before the tower shoots skyward into a residential condominium above — a hybrid typology that became a signature model for urban Canadian hotels in the mid-2000s. The interiors, handled with the restrained confidence that characterizes the Quebec-born Groupe Germain's approach across its portfolio, carry a cool mid-century European sensibility rather than the heavy-handed sports theming the location might have encouraged. Large-format stone tiles and a double-height lobby in charcoal and white anchor the ground floor, with low-slung black leather tub chairs grouped around polished burl-wood side tables — a pairing that draws on the same Milanese contract furniture vocabulary visible across the brand. Guest rooms keep to warm maple platform beds, charcoal carpeting, and roller-shade windows, the one concession to setting being large-format black-and-white athletic photography mounted above the headboards — present enough to acknowledge the neighbourhood, restrained enough not to be consumed by it.

"This hotel is a sleek, updated property in the heart of downtown Toronto, right next door to Scotiabank Arena, where the Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors play. We stayed there because we went to a Raptors game and it is the closest hotel. The service was excellent, very friendly and responsive. I forgot my phone charger and the front desk attendant told me that there was a charger in the minibar, but as long as I left it there after using it I would not be charged (no pun intended :-) ). Very helpful! One thing I loved about the hotel was that a magnified mirror inset was built into the regular bathroom mirror for makeup, this was super handy. Only quibble was that the room was dark, both in terms of décor and insufficient lighting. I worked in the hotel lobby instead, which was fine and dandy. Great bedding. Starbucks one block away. All good!"

"WOW!!!! This hotel is amazing!!! I originally thought I was booking this location for an upcoming concert I was attending and found out last minute it was for another location. I called Le Germain Mercer and asked if I could transfer the booking to Maple Leaf Square location. They were so helpful and managed to do just that for me! I was so happy, the lady I spoke to on the phone was so kind and genuine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! Once I got to the right location, the experience was sensational! The staff was very helpful and friendly, from the valet to the housekeeping staff......perfect!!! Le Germain Hotel - Maple Leaf Square is impeccable with decor, layout and style! Our room was so clean and beautifully decorated. Everything you need in within a small walk without having to step foot outside. There is a grocery store, LCBO, bank and restaurant(s) right there. This alone was a great experience. We walked indoors to the concert to enjoy a night of Stevie Nicks (she is on my bucket list of concerts and did not disappoint). After the concert we went to the lobby bar at the hotel and the staff there were superb and friendly. The bed.....OMG! It was so comfortable...like sleeping on a cloud! They also offer late check out, so we took advantage and stayed in our comfy bed a little longer! All in all, this was the weekend of a lifetime and it all started with Le Germain!!! Please don't hesitate to book either location if you are in Toronto! You will not be disappointed...I promise!!!"

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Le Germain was an absolute delight to stay at! The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the location couldn’t be better — everything is right there: grocery stores, the LCBO, Toronto gear shops, and a great restaurants and bar on-site. We were even upgraded for free, which made our stay extra special! I loved everything about it. It’s also perfect for elders and seniors — you can access Scotiabank Arena easily through Maple Leaf Square, either indoors or outdoors through the main doors, making it super convenient and comfortable in any weather."

"I rarely give a 5 star review but this hotel is one of them. From the day I called the hotel directly to make the reservation to the week later when I called back to order a cot for the room. To the most friendly guy (I think his name was Ari) who held the door for us and remembered us at each in and out. The Valet Driver, the woman who checked us in, the staff we passed in the hallways, the breakfast Restaurant staff. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. Thank you. We visited the hotel for one night for a Toronto Maple Leaf Game and were pleasantly surprised the arena was right next door to the hotel. Our room was perfect. Two beds and a nice roll away bed (cot) set up. We requested a microwave in the room and it was already set up ready for us. Very clean room. Only one complaint the Restaurant didn't open until 8am on a weekend morning so there was nowhere to get a coffee/tea for early risers. I was directed underground/elevator ride down to a Starbucks however not ideal as it would be so beneficial to be able to have a quick coffee/tea machine in the lobby for the price of this hotel. Yes there is a machine in the room but when the rest of your party is still sleeping it's nice to get out of the room and let them sleep. Would I return to this hotel??? Yes for sure. Go Leafs Go. Go Jays Go!"
