PB hotel design editorial

At the corner of Bay and Adelaide in Toronto's Financial District, a 58-storey tower designed by Hanrahan Meyers Architects rises in a tapered glass-and-granite form that signals corporate ambition before it suggests hospitality. The St. Regis Toronto, which opened in 2012 within the lower floors of this mixed-use skyscraper, holds 258 rooms and suites — the hotel's territory distinguished from the residential and office floors above by a limestone-clad base and the canopied porte-cochère visible at street level. Inside, Yabu Pushelberg's interiors move between two registers: the guest rooms carry a quietly assured residential tone, with leather headboards in warm taupe, brass-detailed millwork, patterned wool carpets in blue and grey, and window seats positioned to frame the Financial District skyline at sunset. A second, more theatrically inclined mode surfaces in the bar, where a swirling ceiling mural in amber and sienna anchors a room furnished with dark barrel chairs, croc-embossed lacquer tables, and a backlit spirits wall that climbs nearly to the cornice. The spa floor — set high enough to clear the surrounding mid-rise buildings — houses a lap pool flanked by bookmatched Calacatta marble panels, the stone's veining mirrored across each pair in a symmetry that gives the otherwise spare space its single moment of grandeur. Brass hardware and dark porcelain tile carry the material language through without interruption.

"Terrible experience since I have checked in. I am here with a group of business people and since I checked in, it’s been one thing after another. They didn’t inform me or butler services I could avail of, I had to find out from a colleague. Turn down was poor at best -turning down a room is NOT providing a glass and bottle of water at the bed. They didn’t even provide fresh towels. Furthermore, my room wasn’t cleaned today when I returned at 3pm. I sent items for pressing and requested one tonight - as I have a 4am start in the morning. I was then informed that I ‘only had a red dress’ in for pressing and nothing else, even though it was a cami that I requested from three separate staff members. Yes, three different people. I had to go to reception and retrieve my clothes, where I was met with rudeness and a threat that they would not retrieve my clothes until I reminded that’s called theft. I have spoken to two managers and have zero confidence in this hotel. The team do not communicate. I am here another six nights and I’m dreading it. A three star hotel would do better. Awful experience."

"Had stayed here in October for World Series and had wonderful stay. We had arrived on red-eye on Saturday morning and Jack, at front desk, was empathetic to our plight checked us in (truth be told we had tried Your24 and did not get it due to craziness of World Series so we had made reservation for Friday and Saturday night) and we went into our nice upgraded room. Akmed the bellman was friendly and helpful. We had an amazing dinner at Louix Louis before the Saturday World Series Game 2 game and then came back for a night cap at wonderful slick bar. Wonderful time! We had such a great time that we elected to stay here for one night before we had our noon flight back to USA. Alastair was the bellman who brought up our luggage and was pleasant. We were upgraded to beautiful room 2813 (a suite) and once again had great stay. We stopped by the beautiful 31st floor bar/restaurant Louix Louis and had pre-dinner drink. Leah the bartender was friendly and attentive. Overall an amazing stay and highly recommend. Had breakfast at Louix Louis and service once again was top-notch. For elite members you get a $31 credit per person which is great. You can get a Canadian breakfast which gives you basics (eggs, potatoes, juice, coffee, and bread etc) for $31 CAD. There are other great options on the menu so you arent obligated to eat only that. Overall amazing stay and highly recommend!"

"We had a first class experience at St Regis. Stayed three nights in a deluxe room with views of the city and lake. Room was large, modern and very tastefully finished to a high standard. Staff are so attentive, friendly and polite. Top floor bar has great atmosphere. Location is central with quick access to really good restaurants. Thoroughly recommend."

"My experience at St Regis was outstanding. The check‑in process was efficient, and the staff was nice. The room was very well maintained, spacious and comfortable. Service quality stood out all across — housekeeping, dining, and front‑desk support were consistently prompt and courteous. From morning coffee service to other special requests were delivered with quality an with an eye for detail. The hotel’s attention to detail and commitment to guest comfort were evident throughout my stay. I highly recommend this property for travelers seeking a seamless, high‑quality hotel experience."
