PB hotel design editorial

Light-veined Carrara marble — laid in inlaid geometric bands across the lobby floor and cut into a monolithic reception desk — sets the material register for Azur Legacy Collection Hotel before a guest has taken ten steps inside. The eight-storey building on West Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver presents a limestone-clad facade articulated by regular bays of floor-to-ceiling glazing, its entry canopy strung with warm festoon lighting that softens the tower's clean-lined geometry against the dense commercial streetscape on either side. The lobby draws the eye immediately toward the restaurant volume beyond, where a tiered fringe chandelier and a large-scale digital artwork in an amber-gilded frame strike an intentional tension between classical proportion and contemporary sensibility. That tension carries through every room. Guest rooms are finished in a palette of warm greige and ivory, with channeled upholstered headboards trimmed in brushed brass, crystal column lamps on dark-stained nightstands, and patterned carpet that references mid-century geometric weaving without directly quoting it. The restaurant and bar push harder into personality: deep Prussian-blue panelled walls framing arched alcoves, a tiered crystal chandelier of conspicuous scale, black-and-white op-art armchairs mixed against velvet banquettes, and a marble back bar edged in brass. The overall approach is closer to European grand-hotel classicism updated for Pacific Northwest clientele than to the raw-material minimalism that dominates much of Vancouver's recent hospitality design.

"It was a little difficult to find the valet area for the AZUR hotel, as it was in a narrow alley way between the main streets. I was greeted by Tristan and he was very helpful and provided excellent service. Once I got to the front desk counter Akash quickly checked me in and also provided great service. He went over details that help to insure a great stay. Much mahalo to Akash and Tristan! CS"

"This place was just full of surprises 🙄. First of all we made it to the place and I didn’t locate any helpful tips for pulling up to the valet in any of my emails. So when I arrived on the block I was very confused and then finally after struggling to find my bearings I found the tiny “Valet Parking” sign that is very inconspicuously placed on the curb. But we made it and then got up to our room just fine. The receptionist were very nice and pleasant people. I had the opportunity to request an early checkout the only issue was that it wasn’t too well communicated when we could request it and ended up having to ask the front desk twice. The Elevator there is super weird to operate- defintely not the smoothest. And although our concierge was helpful for any questions I had, he didn’t exactly make it clear that I had to use the keycard to operate the elevator effectively. Drinks at the rooftop bar are crazy expensive don’t waste time eating or drinking at the hotel. There were various things that were misleading at this hotel. 1. The hotel is advertised to have a “pool” and a “gym” when in actuality they can permit guests access to a gym and pool in a building across the street and guests have to request a slip in order to get free access at said gym on the day they wish to go 2. The TV in the room advertises “2 free drinks per room” for all those who leave a review on Travel.com or Google Reviews and that you just need to show it to the person at the front desk. What they don’t tell you is that the review must be a 5 star review (which seems super manipulative) and then you don’t get to choose the drinks you get from the rooftop bar but instead you only have the choice between the house red or white wine and beer. Pretty underwhelming 3. Otherwise the whole experience was so back and forth It took 20mins to get Ice delivered to my room"

"If you’re looking for the perfect place to create a special memory for someone you love with cute amenities, Azur Hotel is the place to stay. My boyfriend and I had such an amazing experience from start to finish every detail was thought through. Alexander made planning everything so easy. I emailed prior to my stay, wanting to do something extra special for my boyfriend, and he helped arrange the amenities the hotel offers and more and even offered to organize balloons for him too. Communication was seamless, from coordinating timing to helping with a room upgrade, and he made sure the entire Azur team knew about our stay and the plans I had arranged so nothing was missed or unorganized. The hospitality truly stood out to us. Every staff member was so welcoming, always greeting us warmly and making us feel taken care of us by offering waters, opening the doors and making sure we weren’t waiting long for our car. It’s easy to see why such a new hotel has already become one of the top 10 five-star stays in Vancouver. Thank you to Alexander and the entire Azur team. We can’t wait to come back."

"Good room service. Check-in was very confusing at least looking for the valet parking location, but once that was figured out everything was pretty smooth from there. Got a room upgrade so that was great (AMEX platinum card for the winnnn wuh-wuh!) P.S. Kyle at the rooftop bar is a great conversationalist and great bar tender. He recommended us this really good restaurant called the Kozak. That man deserves a raise."
