PB hotel design editorial

Positioned at the edge of Burrard Inlet where Vancouver's downtown grid surrenders to the working harbour, a 23-storey curtain-walled tower completed in 1991 gave the Fairmont Waterfront one of the most geographically privileged addresses in Canadian hospitality — directly adjacent to Canada Place, with the Coast Mountains visible across the water from nearly every room in the building. The glass-and-steel envelope, articulated with a distinctive curved summit and a grid of silver-framed windows, mirrors the inlet below and shifts tone with the Pacific light through the day. The 489 rooms carry the interiors through two distinct registers, as the images show: darker suites finished in espresso-stained furniture and tonal bronze wallcovering sit alongside brighter configurations with charcoal geometric pattern walls, tufted linen headboards, and gold-accented cushions against floor-to-ceiling harbour views. The ground-floor restaurant is built around double-height glazing and white marble fireplaces, with copper sculptural pendants suspended from exposed ceiling structure — an atmosphere that leans more Pacific Northwest contemporary than grand-hotel formal. The outdoor pool terrace, set on a low podium level between the tower and the waterfront promenade, frames the Convention Centre roof and the inlet beyond through a screen of potted palms, lending the terrace an unlikely warmth for a city at this latitude. The whole property holds its position on the waterfront with a confidence that has kept it relevant across more than three decades of Vancouver's rapid architectural evolution.

"A big kudos to Fairmont Gold Team , especial Metion Jasmin, Camila, Elle, Ahmad and Yoenkab, these people are amazing and made our stay and Anniversary a day to remember. Also at the ARC, our servers Katie and James are worth mentioning for their excellent service."

"I have been using this hotel for many years and have enjoyed my time here. With this visit though, I was able to see the aging of the room, it looks worn. While it was clean and well organized, I could see that the table tops are chipped, the rug is faded, the wall paper coming off in places, and the bathtub looks well used and really needs to be replaced with a walk in shower configuration, because, who really uses shallow bathtubs in hotels anymore. Not a luxury hotel anymore although I am still fond of it for the views and great customer service."

"No slippers in the room, when requested it took 2 hours for delivery. Carpet worn out breakfast very slow service but food was good. Great location but service was slow especially housekeeping. Manger was aware of housekeeping issues, I sent an email but just ignored my feedback, no response at all."

"I stayed at the hotel from December 1 to December 3, booked through Chase Travel, and this was my first time experiencing a Fairmont property—it truly made my stay! I arrived early in the morning on December 1 after a long and exhausting flight. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name of the gentleman at the front desk, but he was incredibly professional, warm, and welcoming. He helped me check in quickly with a genuine smile, patiently answered all of my questions, and made the entire process seamless. His kindness and professionalism instantly washed away my travel fatigue, and I am truly grateful to him. My room was absolutely fabulous—far beyond my expectations. It was elegant, cozy, and beautifully designed, with a lovely view that made my stay even more special. The bedding, interior décor, and bathroom amenities were all thoughtfully selected and of exceptional quality—I absolutely loved them. The breakfast buffet and dinner were outstanding, offering a wide variety of delicious options along with attentive and friendly service. Overall the stay left a deep impression on me and truly showcased the excellence of the Fairmont brand. I was so impressed that I even joined the Fairmont membership. I will definitely be back again! The hotel’s location is also perfect—simply unbeatable."

"My fiance and I stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront in early December for a surprise engagement. The concierge specifically Monica was amazing!! She helped me organize the room with champagne, flowers, decorations, etc. Monica took care of calling the vendors, getting pricing and ensuring the room was ready for when we arrived. She even went above and beyond with a curated list of restaurants and making reservations for us. Truly exceptional service! If you stay at this hotel I would recommend the Stanley Park View Room as it did not disappoint!"
