PB hotel design editorial

Positioned at the edge of Burrard Inlet where Vancouver's downtown grid surrenders to the working harbour, a 23-storey curtain-walled tower completed in 1991 gave the Fairmont Waterfront one of the most geographically privileged addresses in Canadian hospitality — directly adjacent to Canada Place, with the Coast Mountains visible across the water from nearly every room in the building. The glass-and-steel envelope, articulated with a distinctive curved summit and a grid of silver-framed windows, mirrors the inlet below and shifts tone with the Pacific light through the day. The 489 rooms carry the interiors through two distinct registers, as the images show: darker suites finished in espresso-stained furniture and tonal bronze wallcovering sit alongside brighter configurations with charcoal geometric pattern walls, tufted linen headboards, and gold-accented cushions against floor-to-ceiling harbour views. The ground-floor restaurant is built around double-height glazing and white marble fireplaces, with copper sculptural pendants suspended from exposed ceiling structure — an atmosphere that leans more Pacific Northwest contemporary than grand-hotel formal. The outdoor pool terrace, set on a low podium level between the tower and the waterfront promenade, frames the Convention Centre roof and the inlet beyond through a screen of potted palms, lending the terrace an unlikely warmth for a city at this latitude. The whole property holds its position on the waterfront with a confidence that has kept it relevant across more than three decades of Vancouver's rapid architectural evolution.

"Fantastic location right across from the cruise dock, making it incredibly convenient. There are also plenty of things to do nearby, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The rooms are newly renovated and spotless. There was a slight paint smell, but that’s understandable with recent updates. The staff were very helpful and added to the overall positive experience. Overall, a great stay—just on the pricier side."

"I stayed in Fairmont Waterfront for 2 nights on business, attending Web Summit in Canada Place next door. Very convenient: close proximity to major convention center, and to so many other attractions. Plus it is waterfront, so this is great location all along. Tasteful common areas, polished and friendly service. Early check in was requested and granted, and so was an upgraded room on 20th floor with the great view. ALL Accor Platinum status helped there. Oh, and front desk personnel was top notch. Nice bar, friendly bartenders. Room was ample sized, well decorated, everything looked clean and fresh. Platinum amenity was also a nice touch. Well stocked and fairly large bathroom. No complaints. Well, it is expensive, and, even with high rates, it was a good value in this case. Highly recommend!"

"The Gold Floor experience doesn't disappoint! The king room with a harbour view of Stanley Park was excellent. The check in experience was seamless and the Gold Floor lounge was calm and hospitable. The concierge was knowledgeable on the wine list and went out of her way to make us feel special. Jasmine made our experience memorable. The food was great, featuring breakfast, daily snacks, evening canapes, and late night sweet treats."

"Great location for what we needed, hotel room, was nice enough, all the staff, super helpful really made the few days stay amazing. The recommendations and knowledge from them was top notch. The stand out star of the team was Mikey in valet/bell, went above and beyond to help us return a rental, super friendly, happy in his job. Thank you Mikey, you deserve a raise!"

"Coming from the UK, we wanted convenience and comfort the night before our cruise departing from Vancouver. I'm delighted to say that the Fairmont Waterfront delivered this and more! Upon arriving, we had a warm welcome from bell services out front, plus an equally friendly welcome from Garry as we checked in. Upon arriving at our room, we were delighted with the spacious size, wonderful city view, quality of fittings, comfort of the beds, and most importantly: the cleanliness. We loved being able to take the lift down to the shopping center underneath the hotel. Not to mention the proximity to the cruise terminal and the complimentary luggage service which saved us precious beats of stress on our embarkation day. If you're taking a cruise out of Vancouver, I'd wholeheartedly recommend this hotel as the go-to. The on-site amenities, friendly staff, and luxury feel throughout were definitely worth the room rate."
