PB hotel design editorial

At the northern edge of Sheung Wan, where Hong Kong Island's financial district gives way to the older merchant streets running up toward Hollywood Road, a slender curtain-wall tower glows against the dusk sky like a lit vitrine. That building is 99 Bonham, a 22-storey boutique hotel of 69 rooms whose glass-and-dark-steel facade, visible in the exterior photograph taken at dusk, places it firmly in the lineage of refined commercial modernism rather than the tropical exuberance that characterizes much of Hong Kong's hotel architecture. The rooftop terrace commands an unobstructed sightline across the Central skyline — Two IFC and Exchange Square rising in the near distance, Victoria Peak massing behind them — a view that makes the building's restrained language feel like a deliberate act of editorial confidence. Inside, the interiors work a considered palette of oak flooring, polished chrome, and cool grey upholstery, the guest rooms furnished with X-base dining tables, Arco-style arc floor lamps in brushed steel, and headboards in smoked glass panels that catch and diffuse the city light flooding through full-height windows. A wire-drawn geometric cube rendered in black line on the bedroom wall above one configuration adds a graphic note without tipping into decoration for its own sake. Marble side tables and linen curtains soften what could easily read as too austere — the overall atmosphere landing closer to a well-appointed Milanese apartment than a conventional hotel room.

"We had originally booked for 3 nights at 99 Bonham having stayed previously and thoroughly enjoyed it , however due to illegal US/Israel war all flights thro' mid east cancelled we had to extend our stay by 4 nts. Ivan and his team were very superb allowing us to stay in our originally booked superior room [ level 33 ] at very competitive rates . 99 Bonham is well appointed and well located for local markets, temples, malls, bars/restaurants, trams and island ferries. Do not miss Man Mo temple [uphill behind 99 Bonham ] and do go to Shuen Wan central market food hall L.2 for great local HK cuisine [ the Wong Kee kitchen, on the left as you enter ] . Thanks to all at 99 Bonham for another memorable stay ."

"My mother in law stayed here last week and woke up with bites all over her body. back, arms, legs, everywhere. she checked out the next morning obviously. reception told her she'd get refunded. when i followed up they told me to chase it through agoda. The hotel told us pest control inspected the room after checkout and found no trace of any insects. They also said they had the room treated for pests afterwards as a precaution. A room with no trace of insects does not need to be treated for pests. At this point, don't really care about the refund anymore. im writing so the next person sees this before they book. shes an older woman and it really shook her up. the photos are awful."

"Well, this hotel's customer service was just awful, I’m never going back. This year I had a trip planned, but I came down with something right before leaving and needed a refund for my booking. I even sent them a note from a top-tier hospital saying I couldn’t fly because of my condition, but they kept giving me the same line—"no refunds after booking," no exceptions. Didn’t give back a single cent, even though the booking was almost $350. I’m seriously disappointed with how that went down. Really hope they step up their customer care in the future, thanks."

"Excellent location - I was here for business and some exploring of the city . Great welcome and excellent housekeeping . Room was all I needed , great WiFi . Excellent value for the location . It’s more an apart hotel than your typical business traveller standard . The location is amazing , close to Mtr , the amazing an Choi (Michelin bib ) cafe, and a great New York bagel cafe with great coffee if literally round the corner for breakfast . Amazing bonus - my Sunday check out was 12pm but my flight was at midnight . The hotel kept my luggage for the day, I got to explore the city and in return that evening I had the use of a guest shower area to freshen up and get myself showered , freshened up ready for the flight home ."
