PB hotel design editorial

Two towers of aluminium-framed curtain wall rise from the IFC complex above Hong Kong's Central MTR station — the shorter housing the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, the taller César Pelli's Two IFC, whose tapered crown is visible in the images against the harbour sky. The hotel, which opened in 2005 across floors three through forty-five of the mixed-use tower designed by Rocco Yim of Gehry Partners-affiliated practice Rocco Design Architects, holds 399 rooms and suites positioned to command either Victoria Harbour or the Peak's green ridgeline — both visible in the guest room photography here, with floor-to-ceiling glass making the city an unbroken backdrop to interiors where dark-stained walnut panels frame geometric headboard tiles in indigo or taupe. The public spaces are where the property's range becomes most apparent. One bar shown here channels a glasshouse extravagance — arched brass armatures carrying suspended blown-glass globes over a tiered marble back bar, sage-velvet banquettes, and herringbone parquet anchoring a room that draws on Edwardian conservatory precedent reinterpreted for a harbour view. A second, darker lounge leans into deep purple tufted velvet, Mucha-style figurative panels, lacquered wood, and antique-mirrored display cabinetry — closer to a fin-de-siècle Parisian cabinet than anything conventionally Asian, demonstrating the hotel's sustained appetite for theatrical contrast between its crisp tower exterior and richly layered interior life.

"This was our third time staying at FSHKG, and I'd highly recommend it especially when you are visiting HK when it's not at its hottest month. The location is a tiny bit far out, but it's very walkable to anywhere in central/Soho/LKF as long as the weather isn't too punishing. Service here was impeccable, and we particularly enjoyed the lounge bar in the evening with live music. It had such a lovely atmosphere, we even prefer it to Argo, which made fantastic cocktails. Room was extremely well maintained and everything here is to a very high standard. Great hotel."

"My experience at Four Seasons was absolutely excellent. The customer service from all the staff was exceptional. Exactly what you would expect from a property like the Four Seasons. From the moment we arrived, Yuki at the front desk was so incredibly nice and helpful. Howard was wonderful with taking care of us every time we were coming in or going out. My son was hospitalized while we were there and the entire front desk staff was so thoughtful and caring. Hugh continued to follow up and make sure we were taken care of. I couldn’t be more impressed with the level of service and my family really enjoyed it. We will be back."

"My daughter and I stayed here for two nights. In the early morning of the second night, my daughter experienced a medical emergency. What the staff at this hotel did from the moment I called for help to when we finally left for our flight two days later embodied everything that is Four Seasons’ hospitality and reaffirms the reason that I stay at a Four Seasons wherever I can. I called the front desk just shy of 4am on what was supposed to be our last night at the hotel, and explained that my daughter needed a taxi to a hospital ASAP. The manager (shout out to Hugh)immediately called me back confirming a taxi is ready to take us to the hospital and offered a wheelchair. He showed up almost immediately with an attendant and a wheelchair. He even offered cash for the taxi (I had some so that wasn’t needed). He also explained that the taxi was taking us to a private hospital so that the wait/processing time there should be minimal, which was, in fact, the case. When we came back from the hospital visit, Hugh offered a wheelchair, anything from the kitchen and as late a check out as we wanted. As it turned out, my daughter needed to go back to the hospital at about noon that day, a different manager arranged everything again with the utmost efficiency and empathy. I came back to check out at about 6pm to stay at the hospital with my daughter for two nights. The manager greeted me by the elevator, helped me check out, store our suitcases for at least two days and assured me that whatever I need, just call them. On the day that my daughter was discharged from the hospital (2 days later), I called and spoke to Hugh. I explained that I needed a room to repack our luggage for our flight later that evening. He arranged it so that when we went to the front desk and presented our passport, a staff member escorted us to a room and arranged to have our luggage delivered to the room. After we sorted out our luggage, we had a light brunch at the restaurant and ordered gluten free toasts. The waitress offered a second serving of toast to my daughter and when the bill came, we found out the gf toasts were on the house. It isn’t just what the staff did at this Four Seasons, it is how every single one of them did it that really touched me so deeply. From the managers, the staff at reception, the wait staff at the restaurant, to the porters, every single one of them provided their services with the utmost professionalism, efficiency and most of all, empathy. It was like suddenly having an extended family in a foreign city. My everlasting gratitude to the staff at this beautiful Four Seasons! BTW : It is a beautiful establishment at a prime location. The view of the harbor is mesmerizing. The swimming pool on the 6th floor is amazing."

"Judging by the reviews here, FS HK probably doesn't need one more raving 5-star review but I thought I'd give it anyway. We've frequented quite a few FS properties throughout our travels and this one did not disappoint. The room, amenities, pool etc live up to the FS standard we've come to expect. Impeccable, respectful, prompt service from concierge to housekeeping to dining staff. Every need was met. They even prepared a little welcome gift as we were celebrating my husband's birthday! Hands down would stay here again next time we're in Hong Kong!"
