PB hotel design editorial

What makes the tower at 133 Leighton Road so architecturally peculiar — and so compelling — is the collision it stages between two completely different ideas of what a building should be. A neoclassical stone podium, its arched windows and Ionic columns recalling the civic confidence of colonial Hong Kong, anchors a curtain-walled glass tower that climbs some thirty floors above Causeway Bay's dense residential grid. Lanson Place sits within this hybrid structure, and the friction between those two architectural registers turns out to be surprisingly productive inside. The lobby works the tension hardest: a vivid lacquered green reception wall — the kind of saturated colour that lifts a room without decorating it — sits opposite a large Magritte-esque canvas of floating green apples in a gilded frame, the whole entry punctuated by a Murano glass chandelier that ties the classical ceiling coffers to something more continental. The lounge beyond settles into a more familiar register of taupe upholstered armchairs, yellow silk scatter cushions, and a grand piano positioned at the room's far end beneath tall sheer-draped windows. Guestrooms carry through the same pale palette — silver-grey carpet, striped wallpaper, chartreuse headboard panels, mirrored lacquer case furniture — with floor-to-ceiling glazing that frames the Causeway Bay skyline in a way that makes the view feel deliberate rather than incidental.

"Came here to celebrate my best friend's birthday. It was a rainy day but once you step into the building, you start to de-stress. The decor and atmosphere reminds you of an Haussmannian apartment and you feel like a guest invited to dinner by a very stylish madame. Our biggest delight is that the service team provides just the right amount of attention - they do the necessary introduction and then leave the table - giving us time and space to talk, de-stress (again), and then dissect the menu. There's a very fine line between attentive service and hovering and we think this team got this balance to the dot. The menu is not huge, but it covers quite a good range from starters and soup to main and dessert. We liked that it was simple, honest good food - again, what you would expect if you're dining at someone's home. The beef bourguignon alone will make you want to come back again and the apple galette at the end sends you home full of love. So glad I picked this place to celebrate my friend's special birthday."

"We spent 10 nights in Lanson Place and chosen it as it was lauded as a boutique luxury hotel and it most definitely is! We loved our stay. Great corner room on the 22nd floor couldn’t be better. We came to HK to see our son & meet his (serious) girlfriend and had dinner with them on one night. We would definitely book the hotel again, but none of us rated the food as that great. Mediocre as best. No trained mixologist either. We ate elsewhere and drank at the Mandarin Oriental which has a fab bar. However in terms of service from concierge level to room service it was superb. The rooms are beautifully decorated and clearly there are some great design choices made when furnishing them. If you love the Causeway Bay Area and want somewhere to escape from the hectic pace of HK then Lanson Place is the best place to do this … and in absolute luxury."

"The hotel is modern, warm and really central. We stayed in a king suite and it was large and lovely! The perks was the cocktail hour. Breakfast finishes at 10, which we found really early. But still, this hotel did absolutely everything to make its guests feel welcomed and cared for. Thank you"

"We’ve just spent the last week at Lanson Place Hong Kong and it has been an absolute delight. The room layout was a little smaller than I initially expected, but I’ve since learned that this is fairly standard for Hong Kong and in practice, it worked perfectly well for a very comfortable stay. What sets this hotel apart is the experience. From start to finish, everything felt faultless. The level of care, attention to detail and genuine kindness shown by the team was exceptional the staff are a real credit to the hotel. The location is fantastic for exploring Hong Kong, and if I’m lucky enough to return, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to stay here again. What a wonderful place"

"Booked this for my boyfriend's birthday 🎉 為男朋友生日而訂 Emailed ahead to mention it was his birthday—thanks for the upgrade, and the Basque cake was such a nice surprise! 🎂 事先電郵咗話係男朋友生日— —多謝升級同埋個巴斯克蛋糕,真係超大驚喜! The room is pretty spacious by HK standards, with a small kitchenette. And there is a copy of a Matisse painting on the wall, the interior is very "French chic". Felt like a cosy apartment, not a hotel. 間房喺香港嚟講算幾大,有個小廚房。牆上裝飾畫系馬蒂斯畫作的影印本,裝修好輕法式風格。成個感覺好似 cozy 小公寓,唔似酒店。 Warm and attentive service—we sat in the lobby with hot tea while they handled check-in, and they took our luggage straight to the room. 服務溫暖體貼—我哋坐喺大堂飲住熱茶,佢哋就搞掂入住手續,行李直接送入房。 Great location—close to Times Square, SOGO, tons of food spots. Super convenient. 位置超正——近時代廣場、SOGO,附近勁多嘢食。非常方便。 Definitely worth the price ! ✨ 絕對抵住!"
