PB hotel design editorial

What makes the tower at 133 Leighton Road so architecturally peculiar — and so compelling — is the collision it stages between two completely different ideas of what a building should be. A neoclassical stone podium, its arched windows and Ionic columns recalling the civic confidence of colonial Hong Kong, anchors a curtain-walled glass tower that climbs some thirty floors above Causeway Bay's dense residential grid. Lanson Place sits within this hybrid structure, and the friction between those two architectural registers turns out to be surprisingly productive inside. The lobby works the tension hardest: a vivid lacquered green reception wall — the kind of saturated colour that lifts a room without decorating it — sits opposite a large Magritte-esque canvas of floating green apples in a gilded frame, the whole entry punctuated by a Murano glass chandelier that ties the classical ceiling coffers to something more continental. The lounge beyond settles into a more familiar register of taupe upholstered armchairs, yellow silk scatter cushions, and a grand piano positioned at the room's far end beneath tall sheer-draped windows. Guestrooms carry through the same pale palette — silver-grey carpet, striped wallpaper, chartreuse headboard panels, mirrored lacquer case furniture — with floor-to-ceiling glazing that frames the Causeway Bay skyline in a way that makes the view feel deliberate rather than incidental.

"Lanson Place@Causeway Bay is located at a quiet corner yet a stone throw’s away from the prime shopping centres and public transport. But what I love most is the ambience and the staff. The newly renovated reception area and the restaurant are luxurious and relaxing. The service is outstanding in all areas. The reception staff are always so helpful and prompt to attend to my requests. I spilled curry all over my white attire and the laundry team managed to clean it. Unbelievable! Relative to my recent travel experience in other countries, this hotel is definitely value for money. I have always liked this hotel and the recent renovation has further enhanced its attractiveness. It will be my preferred choice whenever I visit Hong Kong."

"My husband and I usually stay in central when we go to Hong Kong. This time it was for a few weeks and we found this lovely place. Lanson Place in causeway bay. Two bed apartment. Bright fresh and spacious. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Our serviced apartment was kept fresh and clean. The hum of the airconditioners was a great white noise device. No sounds to disturb us. The kitchen had enough cookware that on the odd occasion I cooked I lacked for nothing.having a washing machine was great. The gym was very useful .My food panda deliveries were promptly brought to me. We felt very looked after. The price we got charged was quite acceptable for Hong Kong. Definitely would recommend a long stay with these amazing people. Side note. Hudson’s caffe is around the corner and a fabulous little caffe to have something to eat. The best French toast ever."

"A very nice small boutique hotel in a top central location in Hong Kong. The stay started a bit patchily, with some service inconsistencies, but after a short discussion the hotel really stepped up and then gave excellent service. Nina and Erica in particular deserve credit, as they definitely helped save the experience. We had a Prestige Suite, which was cozy and had everything we needed. The bed is a little on the firm side, but still absolutely fine. A real highlight was the afternoon canapé and Champagne service. It was actual Champagne rather than just sparkling wine, and the mixologist made a real effort to come up with new cocktails each day. Breakfast is a combination of buffet and à la carte and was very tasty throughout, even if the buffet itself is rather small. The one thing I would clearly change is the breakfast timing: finishing at 10:00, even on weekends, is too early for a hotel like this. Overall, the stay improved noticeably over our five days there, and by the end the staff was consistently super friendly and helpful. Recommended. The property is publicly listed as Lanson Place Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, following its 2024 reopening after renovation."

"Came here to celebrate my best friend's birthday. It was a rainy day but once you step into the building, you start to de-stress. The decor and atmosphere reminds you of an Haussmannian apartment and you feel like a guest invited to dinner by a very stylish madame. Our biggest delight is that the service team provides just the right amount of attention - they do the necessary introduction and then leave the table - giving us time and space to talk, de-stress (again), and then dissect the menu. There's a very fine line between attentive service and hovering and we think this team got this balance to the dot. The menu is not huge, but it covers quite a good range from starters and soup to main and dessert. We liked that it was simple, honest good food - again, what you would expect if you're dining at someone's home. The beef bourguignon alone will make you want to come back again and the apple galette at the end sends you home full of love. So glad I picked this place to celebrate my friend's special birthday."
