PB hotel design editorial

Planted within the Venetian-inflected fantasy of Macau's Cotai Strip — where Sands China's mega-resort complex stretches across reclaimed land with the architectural confidence of a small city — The Grand Suites at Four Seasons Hotel Macao presents a deliberate counterargument to its neighbours' maximalism. The tower, rising some 37 floors above a Neo-Renaissance podium that connects directly to the Four Seasons' original hotel and casino complex, was conceived as a residential-register retreat within one of the world's most aggressively theatrical hospitality districts. HBA (Hirsch Bedner Associates) led the interiors, calibrating a palette of pale limestone, brushed brass, and oyster-toned upholstery against floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the Pearl River Delta skyline. The guest rooms visible in these images pursue a language of restrained contemporary glamour — brass-framed openwork screens dividing sleeping from living zones without sacrificing light, abstract blue-and-blush rugs anchoring pale oak floors, headboards upholstered in channelled grey fabric with polished brass pulls at either side. The club-level dining space moves into richer territory: herringbone parquet, lacquered cabinetry with brass-framed wine display cases, and a gold-leafed ceiling recess overhead. At pool level, living green walls partition individual cabanas, palm fronds cutting against the Cotai skyline in a landscaping gesture that feels more South Beach than South China Sea — though, given the Strip's anything-goes ambitions, perhaps that was always the point.

"We stayed for one night in early February booked through Amex. We loved the intimate feel and the warm service we received. We received a room upgrade and received many complimentary snacks in our room. Everyone made us feel very welcome, but a special shout out to Chester who suggested we do lunch at Zi Yat Heen. The dimsum and service were both delightful! We also ate at the breakfast buffet and would highly recommend for the selection and quality of the spread. Overall a 5/5 experience!"

"My wife and I visited OHTE Ramen expecting a relaxed, ordinary dinner, but our experience was elevated by Oliver’s wonderful service. He was warm, attentive, and went out of his way to make our evening special — including a complimentary welcome drink and dessert. His thoughtful gestures and genuine hospitality transformed the night and made us feel truly welcomed. Please pass along our thanks to Oliver — the Four Seasons Macau has an absolute gem on staff. We’ll definitely be back and will recommend OHTE to friends."

"The customer service is amazing at the hotel , though built in 2008 it has got a great ambiance and as there is no casino , the hotel is quite when compared to the other adjacent hotels. From the time we walked in from the door man who was kind enough to pay for the taxi as we did not have local currency to the chef Antonio Suo who made special Indian dishes for my wife who is a vegetarian without even requesting for special food, Would surely recommend this hotel for its customer centric approach with large comfort rooms"

"We just finished a 2-night stay at the Four Seasons Macao before the Christmas crowds and it was easily the highlight of our trip. Traveling with a 2-year-old is usually pretty exhausting, but the team here made us feel so supported and relaxed. First off, a huge shout-out to Queenie and her colleagues from the Reservations team. Before we even arrived, she was helping us coordinate all the toddler amenities for our room so everything was ready to go the moment we walked in. It made such a difference. We also want to give a special mention to Edward (F&B). We ran into him constantly at the hotel restaurants Belcanção, and he was always so incredibly welcoming and kind to our family. It’s those personal touches that really set this hotel apart. We only dined at the restaurants at the Four Seasons throughout the stay and each one is amazing. What we loved: The Garden Playground: This was a total game-changer. It’s located right in the garden next to the buffet restaurant. It’s the perfect spot for a toddler to play while the adults finish their meal in peace. Location: Super convenient and easy to get around to any casino place in Cotai. The Service: Everyone is friendly to kids for families. We’re already planning to head back later this month with even more family members. If you’re heading to Macao with kids, stay here—you won’t regret it!"
