PB hotel design editorial

At the edge of Beijing's Central Business District, where the ring roads converge and the skyline thickens with towers competing for altitude, a 26-storey curtain-walled block rising from a low stone podium has served the district's deal-making class since Kerry Hotel Beijing opened in 2012. The facade's horizontal banding — pale stone spandrels alternating with floor-to-ceiling glazing — gives the exterior a measured cadence against its more aggressive neighbours, the building presenting as deliberate and corporate rather than showy, which suits its brief precisely. Inside, the interiors strike a balance familiar to Shangri-La's Kerry tier: warm walnut millwork and tray ceilings in the guestrooms, headboards set into textured panel surrounds, floors dressed in patterned carpet that absorbs the scale of rooms built generously for a business clientele. Traditional ink-wash paintings appear as framed artwork against the pale gold wall panels, threading a Chinese cultural reference through what is otherwise a comfortable international idiom. The jazz bar carries a different mood entirely — deep amber leather club chairs, tufted wingbacks, brass pendant clusters above a performance stage with a grand piano, the whole room shifting register toward a 1950s supper-club atmosphere. The indoor lap pool, set beneath a vaulted ceiling of curved aluminium panels and travertine columns, gives the leisure floor an almost civic scale, its arched geometry softening what could have been purely functional. With 487 rooms across its tower floors, the hotel functions as a self-contained quarter within the district's relentless vertical grid.

Kerry Hotel, Beijing Reviews

"Location Hotel is conveniently located next to Kerry Mall and China World Mall means there is no lack of shopping and food options. The hotel is a quick DiDi from the major tourist attractions. Hotel and Room Hotel is nice and clean. Our rooms were located on a high floor and the hotel breakfast had plenty of Western and Chinese options. The rooms were comfy and everything was well. We also had Club Lounge access which was very useful to relax during the hot summer afternoons. Services Before our arrival, we made some online shopping orders and the hotel kindly helped received the items and delivered them to our rooms when we checked in.  Overall, the staffs were all very friendly and helpful."

"We stayed at the Kerry's hotel twice for a total of 9 nights in May26. Rooms: During our 2 visits, we stayed in room 704 & 720. The rooms were relatively spacious. We had the 2 single beds rooms, the mattresses were a bit on the firm side but comfy. The pillows, duvet & mattresses cover were soft & extremely comfortable. They also provided a spare pillow, bathrobes (that sealed in bags), slippers, & free drinks (beers, juice, soft drinks & water). There were sockets (including USB plugs) by each bed. The bathroom was modern, we especially loved the Smart auto toilet seat, the rainforest showers & the sofa bench. Location: We absolutely loved the location of this hotel, as it's just next to our most favourite China World Mall, which is a modern spacious posh shopping mall & has got everything we loved & needed. This was the 99% of the reason why we decided to book the Kerry's hotel again when we flied back to Beijing within a week. Services: The staff was super polite, and they even gave us the floor we wanted. Having said that, I hope the reception was a bit more welcoming at the time we came back on our 2nd visit. Breakfast: If I had to pick any downside, it'd be their breakfast. It cost ¥178 per person (after discount) and I'd expect a lot more in terms of food quality. I don't know much about traditional Chinese breakfast so I can't really judge that (though my wife said the Beijing fried sauce noodles and buns she had were just average). I had the English Breakfast and sushi, but they were super disappointing. For example, the fried eggs, bacon, and hash browns were under the heat lamps for way too long. The egg yolks weren't runny anymore, the bacon was super hard to chew, the hash browns were too dry, and the baked beans weren't using real tomato sauce baked beans but just yellow beans. The waffle was cold and hard to chew too. For the sushi, I let it slide that they used ham and cucumber and didn't have salmon or tuna, but what I couldn't forgive was that the only sauce they had was vinegar, but not soy sauce or wasabi!!! For the cornflakes, they only had "hot" soy milk and "hot" milk to go with it, but no cold milk! Plus, they didn't have any English tea and used concentrated orange juice instead of using fresh oranges. I don't want to sound harsh, but I'd expect a lot more from a 5-star international hotel for breakfast. If they don't know how to do other breakfast styles, they should at least learn how to do it right, get some common sense, or just take them off the menu completely. Overall, for the sake of its location and room quality, I'd totally recommend Kerry's to anyone who loves staying near a modern shopping mall in Beijing. I'd definitely come back, but I won't go for their breakfast again."

"I was fortunate to recently host a very VIP dinner for 150 guests at Kerry Hotel Beijing, as well as a breakfast meeting for 100, and could not have been more pleased with the extraordinary support we received from the property team. Led by Resident Manager Suky, Jeff, Tina, Jennifer, Emma, Alvin, Jenson, Jeff Wang, Tiger and Jacky all contributed to delivering a wonderful experience for our event guests. Their attention to detail was second to none, and their willingness to help truly impressive. We could not have been more pleased with this collaboration!"

"This is beautiful property. We arrive at the end of the Chinese New Year celebration and the lobby was beautifully decorated. The staff was helpful and even allowed a check out because we had n evening flight. The rooms are spacious and updated, with free mini fridge drinks and of course delicious teas. My parents ate the breakfast buffet that was included and said it was the largest breakfast buffet they’ve ever seen. There’s a cute wine bar downstairs with wonderful selections. The hotel is connected to a huge mall with more restaurant options. The hotel seems to be in a perfect downtown location and maybe 25 minutes to the airport. Great choice by our travel agent."
