PB hotel design editorial

At the crown of the China World Trade Center Tower III — a 330-metre curtain-wall tower that dominated Beijing's CBD skyline when it completed in 2009 — Park Hyatt Beijing was fitted into the upper floors of one of the tallest buildings in the capital, with interiors by Remedios Simon Design that translate the tower's corporate ambition into something considerably more considered. The rooms carry a palette of warm celadon greens, pale oak, and brushed brass, the headboard panels upholstered in panels that echo traditional Chinese lacquerwork without resorting to ornament. Floor-to-ceiling glazing turns the CBD's nightly theatre of illuminated towers — Rem Koolhaas's CCTV headquarters visible on the middle distance — into something close to a living installation. The sky-level pool, sheltered beneath a vaulted glazed barrel vault of white-painted steel, sits high enough above the city that the water's surface reflects only sky and structure, creating an atmosphere closer to a contemplative bath house than a hotel fitness facility. The restaurant above deploys a greenhouse logic — full-height glass ceiling, slender birch trees planted between tables, raw volcanic stone cladding one wall — that manages to feel genuinely sylvan despite sitting some two hundred metres above Chang'an Avenue. With 237 rooms spread across 20 floors of the tower, the hotel maintains a density low enough to keep the corridors quiet, which in Beijing's Chaoyang District counts as a minor architectural achievement in itself.

"Restaurant service should be improved . All the services are very good, especially the room service. I really appreciate the cleaning lady."

"I took my family for a quick lunch after swimming at the pool. This is our 4th time eating here and usually the experience is amicable. This time, my daughter asked for some peanut butter. So I first went to the icecream desk, and he just pointed at the spread of toppings and said no. Rude! Then I went to the lead hostess who then asked at lease three other chiefs and came back with no. I was irritated and told her to go make it happen. 20 minutes later, we had peanut butter. This Hyatt is known to host guests from India and LATAM, where peanut or peanut butter should be a stable item. I am not a cook, but making no peanut butter sauce from peanuts shouldn’t take a lot of effort. The disappointment here is that the hotel ($300 per night) staff, with the exception of the lead hostess, led the conversations with the “no” attitude. This is exactly why we have so much of the service industry being replaced by AI to ensure the positive experiences for the clients. Lead with “let me see what I can do”…"

"Good base to business and to explore, at CBD and connected to a mall and subway. The restaurant on the top floor, despite a bit crowded sometimes, offers a panorama view of Beijing. Our room was spotless, offering the view of the iconic CCTV Tower. Efficient service. Special thanks to Hailey Wang and Vivian Yan of the front desk. They made the check-in and check-out processes seamless."

"Traveling with our 8-year-old daughter, we were especially impressed by the genuine hospitality and attention to detail demonstrated by the entire team. Every staff member we encountered was warm, professional, and eager to help. Whether assisting with luggage, holding doors, or helping us with the elevators, the service always felt sincere and thoughtful rather than routine. One gesture that particularly stood out was from the housekeeping team. After noticing that we were traveling with a young child, they thoughtfully brought several small floating bath toys for our daughter to enjoy during bath time. It was a simple gesture, but it made a lasting impression and showed how attentive the team is to guests’ needs. The hotel itself offers an elegant atmosphere, spacious and comfortable accommodations, and exceptional service throughout. The combination of luxury, professionalism, and genuine care made our stay truly memorable."

"This hotel is well situated and very upscale with one serious flaw. Guests cannot set the thermostat below 20 degrees, and the hotel room frequently did not even achieve that level of coolness. This should not be the hotel's policy. Indeed, it was the only upscale hotel we stayed in that restricted the thermostat to that 20 degree (Celsius) figure. All the others permitted a setting as low as 18.5 degrees (or even lower). So, I cannot recommend staying here unless you like to sleep in a room that is not sufficiently cool."
