PB hotel design editorial

At the foot of Qing Cheng Mountain in Sichuan province — one of Taoism's most sacred sites, its forested slopes home to temples dating back nearly two thousand years — Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain makes the case that contemporary resort design and ancient spiritual landscape are not merely compatible but mutually reinforcing. The property spreads across roughly 35 acres as a low-rise village of grey-tiled pavilions connected by curved timber walkways and water channels, the massing kept deliberately modest so the ridgeline always dominates. Traditional Sichuan architectural forms govern the structures throughout: bracketed timber frames, upswept eave profiles, and clay roof tiles laid in the regional manner sit alongside lily ponds and stone-paved courtyards that move through the site in a sequence closer to classical garden design than resort planning. Inside the 102 villas and suites, exposed ridge-and-rafter ceilings in warm teak give the rooms the atmosphere of carefully built vernacular structures rather than hotel accommodation. Draped muslin canopies hang from bamboo poles above low platform beds, while custom furniture in pale elm — hexagonal stools, round side tables, rectilinear daybeds upholstered in chartreuse and citron — introduces a quietly contemporary touch against the cream-washed walls. The indoor pool pavilion extends the same timber-and-glass vocabulary, dark hardwood trusses framing a wall of steel-mullioned windows that draw the surrounding bamboo grove directly into the space. Throughout, the design resists ornament in favour of material honesty, letting the grain of the wood and the weight of the tile carry the conversation.

Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain Reviews

"Excellent service, especially Loki that was really helpful : he really brings the level of service to a very high standard. Very good breakfast with large choice. Very nice, clean and big bedroom. Also cool to have Tai Chi in the morning. I removed 1 star for those reasons : the Tui Na massage I had was not nice and painful ; the Chinese restaurant was so so while very expensive ; the way to my room on level 1 was a bit shocking for a 5 stars resort as we could see all the pipes, unesthetic false grass and other stuff that should not be shown to customer paying that much money to stay there (pictures attached). Finally, I feel that the resort is lacking a bit of charm, but this is very subjective. At the end, it's still a good place to stay near Qing Cheng, with excellent service. I recommend."

"Disclaimer: it was a first time I visited China and a first time going to Six Senses location. This place is really great. The hotel's territory is very large and beatiful, full of trees/bamboo/bushes. There are birds, squirrels, etc, and the general feel is a mix of comfortable villa and a great garden. As most people in China do not speak English, it was a great help of having constant support of English-speaking Guest Experience Maker. Aina was great and helped me to pack my 5-day stay with a lot of experiences and places to visit: from great hike on Qing Cheng Mountain to Leshan Buddha and Panda Reserve. Excursions team was great, too: they knew all requests I passed, so we could successfully change the plans on the fly when the road to Wolong Panda Reserve was suddenly closed, and because of this I was able to visit all the places I wanted. The breakfast was delicious, full of options, both Chinese and European. Dining in both Square bar and in-hotel Chinese restaurant was awesome, too. Having a room with hot spring, being able to enjoy hot water in a small private yard inside the suite was a nice addition. 5/5 stay, hope to visit this place again"
