PB hotel design editorial

Positioned within the Guangzhou International Finance Centre — Wilkinson Eyre's 440-metre tapered tower that rises as one of the tallest buildings in China — the Park Hyatt Guangzhou inhabits the upper floors of a structure whose angled glass facade cuts the Pearl River New Town skyline with quiet authority. The hotel's exterior presence is inseparable from the IFC's architectural identity: floor-to-ceiling curtain wall glazing and the tower's distinctive chamfered corner, visible in the images against a violet dusk with the Canton Tower glowing in the middle distance, frame every guest room as a directed composition of city and sky. Interiors by the Hong Kong studio Remedios Studio work a careful counterpoint to all that glass and altitude. The lobby lounge deploys double-height curtain walls to amplify the tower's transparency, anchoring the volume with sculptural pendant lights assembled from layered timber battens and a rough-hewn scholar's rock — both gestures borrowed from the classical Chinese interior tradition and recast at contemporary scale. Guest rooms run to warm dark wood wall panelling, wide-plank flooring, and the hotel's signature headboard: a deep bronze latticework screen whose geometric fretwork pattern derives from traditional Chinese window grilles, backlit to cast warm geometry across white bedding. The elevated pool, lined with a coffered concrete ceiling and long floor-to-ceiling windows, places the Canton Tower directly in the swimmer's sightline — an amenity that doubles as an argument for vertical urbanism.

"Room:spacious, clean and cozy TV : screen quality is High Definition grade, responsive control, covers many satelite channels, as well as HK TVB Net : Fast, Fast enough for SHS, Bilibili, others Restuarants : reasonable food quality Comments : light was a bit dim in the room, we prefer a brighter setup rather than romantic altmosphere"

"Amazing location! I even scored a room with a Canton Tower view, which was definitely the highlight. The view was stunning. Unfortunately, everything inside the room was less so. Hygiene, in particular, needs some serious help. I found hair in my breakfast (extra protein I didn’t order), and the bed sheets didn’t seem particularly… fresh. Any remaining optimism vanished when I watched housekeeping place a fresh set of blanket directly onto the sofa before making the bed. The same sofa I sit on daily. This did not exactly boost my confidence in the cleanliness of the linens. Then came the disappearing-items subplot. Some of my personal belongings were thrown away despite very clearly not being in the trash. When I asked about it, the items were magically returned in perfect condition. The official explanation? “Sorry, your items fell off the desk and we thought you didn’t want it anymore.” Because yes, that’s obviously how guests signal they want their belongings disposed of. Lastly, a special mention to James Guo at the concierge counter, who was impressively clueless and noticeably uninterested when I asked for recommendations. A concierge desk without help is… a bold concept. Great view, great location but cleanliness and service definitely need to catch up."
