"Initially have quite high expectation for Sofitel brand but was utterly dissapointed experience from the moment I arrived at the hotel. First, the attending staff simply stood there without offering any help with our luggages from the car, which wasn't a major issue since we are fine with handling our own luggages. When queuing up for check in, I was handled by a cold (not rude but not too welcoming either) female staff to whom informed me that there is no connecting room (I booked 2 rooms and requested for a connecting rooms with single & double bed). Initially, she told me there was not such connecting rooms available, only after I insisted and she checked with her colleague that she manage to give us the connecting rooms with the configuration I wanted. However, as the housekeeping was still cleaning the other room, we were given 1 room and were told to rest & wait in the room while they're cleaning the 2nd room. The room given was in absolute dreadful condition, cigarette smell with broken shower room blind. Was told to get a room change as the maintenance team could not fix the blind issue. Eventually I just settled for a non connecting room on same floor with single king bed each. As the issue has simply caused me too much time wasted and I just wanted to get my room asap. We arrived at check-in at around 4.30pm and they should have the room ready by 3pm (let alone the guaranteed room ready for Gold member). As we had our room changed and the welcoming fruit platter was left in the previous room. I requested for a new fruit platter but of course it was never fulfilled. Another issue that I failed to understand would be as a "family friendly" hotel. I simply could not understand how a see through bathroom fits into the category of being family friendly. Is seeing your family or friends manning their business in the shower area a new norm? Unfortunately it is beyond my comprehension. This is truly an experience nothing short of dissapoinment. A huge difference compare to the my experience staying in Sofitel Kunming few months ago."

"We booked 6 rooms (4 nights) for my family and friends at Sofitel Guangzhou. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Specially the front desk lady who is that we booked extra one room and help us to cancel. Such a great relief! But there were some down sides, I think the room need a revamped or more maintenance. The room’s sofa was torn, the window blind was crumpled, the bed headrest was peeling off and shower water pressure was low (took longer time to shower)."
