"My wife and I stayed three nights at Banyan Tree Shanghai on the Bund, spending our first night in an upgraded room before moving to the Riverside Suite for the remaining two nights. Our stay began on a wonderful note. The gentleman who checked us in was warm, welcoming and generously upgraded us for our first night, which was a thoughtful gesture and set a positive tone for our stay. The Riverside Suite itself was spacious, elegant and very comfortable, with Banyan Tree's signature contemporary style and luxurious bathroom. One point worth noting is that, despite its name, the Riverside Suite does not directly overlook the Huangpu River. The main view faces neighbouring office buildings, with the river visible from a side window. The suite was still enjoyable, but guests expecting a full riverfront panorama may wish to be aware of this. Our subsequent interactions with the front desk were more mixed. When we returned the following day to move into the Riverside Suite, the reception staff appeared more focused on introducing chargeable upgrades and listing the prices of various add-on services than on welcoming us back or ensuring our room transition was smooth. While I understand that promoting hotel offerings is part of the role, the interaction felt more sales-oriented than guest-oriented. In addition, although we had Executive Lounge privileges, some staff needed to verify the associated benefits before assisting us. Everyone remained courteous and professional throughout our stay, but the overall experience felt more transactional than personalised. Overall, Banyan Tree offers a refined and comfortable luxury experience in a peaceful setting. The rooms and facilities are excellent, but a warmer, more intuitive approach to hospitality would better match the high standards expected of a luxury hotel. I would happily return for the beautiful accommodation and relaxing atmosphere, particularly if seeking a quieter stay away from the busiest parts of the city."

"Location: I found the location perfect; slightly removed from the hubbub of the Bund, but close enough that I didn't feel like I was in the middle of nowhere. The ferry station is nearby, which is a plus. Atmosphere: As soon as you step in, it has spa vibes. Definitely a nice calming, mildly romantic atmosphere here. Rooms: Love that all the rooms are river facing, although lower floors and lower numbered rooms (xx01-xx06 ish) don't get quite the best view. I was in a Bund view room on the top floor, and the feeling of soaking in the tub at night while admiring the Bund lighting is something I miss dearly. Room size was very spacious, and the room was anointed with all the expected niceties such as a coffee machine, bluetooth speaker, double vanities, super nice bay window/sofa. Soap and shampoo were the big, fixed-to-the-wall kind; never been a fan of those and never will be. Note: While I didn't have any issues with noise during my stay, a family moved into the suite next door while I was packing for checkout, and the noise was certainly leaking in. If I had been staying another night, and been subjected to such noise, I would be mighty displeased. Dining: Didn't really eat much at the restaurants, but breakfast was solid. Not the most expansive selection for sure, but what was there was very good. Service: Staff were all extremely friendly and seemed to be happy to be there. I love the turn down service which comes with tea and peach juice every night (the tea in particular was very nice!). There were no weird smells or icky spots in the room or the corridors/common areas. Staff do a very good job of keeping the property in good shape, despite it being slightly older. Only maintenance issue I could speak of was that the windows were slightly dirty, but they were being cleaned right as I was staying there, so it seems the hotel is aware of this. Value: Expensive for sure, but for the kind of location and view in a big city, I think it is definitely worth it. Will be happy to return here on my next trip to Shanghai."

"I stayed in the Romantic Oasis Room with Relaxation Pool and Bund View. Unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the expectations created by the hotel’s photos and pricing. The room photos show The Bund prominently centered in the view. In reality, the Bund is not visible from the center of the room. To see it, you need to move all the way to the far-right side of the window. Considering the premium price paid specifically for the view, this was quite disappointing. The room itself felt rather dated and noticeably humid, likely due to the small indoor relaxation pool. While the overall view is still beautiful, the room was not as impressive as expected for a luxury hotel in this price range. What disappointed me most was the arrival experience. My reservation stated a 3:00 PM check-in, but my room was not ready until 4:00 PM. More surprisingly, no staff member escorted me to the room or explained any of the room features. This is the first time I have experienced such a lack of service at a five-star hotel, especially at this price point. On a positive note, the rooftop bar and restaurant were excellent. The service was attentive, the cocktails were great, and the view was absolutely stunning. It was one of the highlights of my stay. After I raised my concerns regarding the delayed check-in and room experience, the front desk did offer a late check-out until 2:00 PM as compensation, which I appreciated. However, while the gesture was welcome, it did not fully make up for the disappointment. Overall, the hotel has a fantastic location and beautiful views, but the room presentation and service fell short of the standards I expected from a luxury hotel"

"Greetings, this is my first stay in Banyan Tree brand in Accor portfolio, and I must say, it is near perfect. The hotel has his own style and advantages, Of course I checked in very late, almost at midnight, and everybody were very tired, so we had some questions about the deposit size, they forgot to give me room keys, etc, the second thing, everybody from the staff mentions, that they are NOT part of the Accor, but just partners. We are just partners, we are just partners, we are just partners. however, I liked this stay more, than Raffles Shenzhen previous day, among the good things: - strong upgrade to Diamond member - 4 or 5 categories higher - Good welcome amenities with Prosecco - great room, rooftop bar view on the Bund and the main Shanghai part, - check out at strong 6 pm - breakfast is good with some interesting black sausages with fish, a lot of salmon, but highlights are absent, grapefruit juice is also not freshly squeezed. Lounge is absent in the hotel, and this is the part of hotel chain policy. The pool in the room looks dramatically attractive, but the functionality is less, the water level could no be higher, and Jacuzzi functions are absent . Hardware is 5*, Japanese technology toilets, pool in the room, aromatherapy in the room, etc. Real oasis in the busy city center. overall, thanks for the stay, 5*, please do not underestimate yourself, even you are not Accor part, but partnership, this hotel is more Accor than some real Accors itself :)"
