"Fabulous hotel for a stay in Shanghai. We booked a Pearl Tower View room and loved it. Great location and friendly and super helpful staff. Best breakfast. The room itself was fabulous, too. The airco was quiet and the bed was huge and unbelievably comfortable. We had a lot of very nice hotel rooms during our trip to China but this was our favourite."

"Excellent room view, Breakfast was decent, but rather pricey at more than 250CNY Room condition can be improved, although service recovery wasn't proactively offered. Excellent service especially by breakfast staff. Unfortunately none of the staff are wearing nametags so we dont know who they are. Room attendant 郭传琴/郭佳秦 also very warm and friendly. Wayne Zheng, Director of Rooms helped us on our onward journey and even gave us suggestions for places to visit, and the staff checking us in were also very helpful and patient and check-in was efficient and we were also given a welcome drink on arrival"

"I’ve polished it into a Tripadvisor style review while keeping your voice and key points. This was my first visit to Shanghai and, naturally, my first stay at W Shanghai The Bund. Quite simply, this is one of the most incredible hotel properties I have ever experienced. Like all great W Hotels, the property tells a story. The theme of W Shanghai beautifully blends Old Shanghai with New Shanghai, creating a hotel that feels both culturally connected and boldly modern. Every space has been thoughtfully designed and there is something visually stunning around every corner. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. A special thank you to Claire, who greeted us and immediately made us feel at home. The hotel knew in advance that we were celebrating my partner Matthew’s 40th birthday and the team went above and beyond to make the occasion truly special. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I was delighted to receive a wonderful suite upgrade. The room was probably the most polished and beautifully presented hotel room I have ever stayed in. The views were spectacular and the thoughtful birthday decorations added an extra layer of magic to an already unforgettable stay. What impressed me most was the consistency of the service. From the bell staff, to the team at WOOBAR, to every staff member we encountered throughout the hotel, everyone delivered the warmth, personality, and professionalism that make the W brand so special. Every interaction felt genuine and every team member embodied true W standards. The facilities are equally remarkable. The pool, gym, sauna, and jacuzzi areas are unlike anything I have experienced before. Everything was immaculate, beautifully maintained, and presented to the highest standard. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. W Shanghai The Bund has set a new benchmark for me in luxury hospitality. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so memorable. "We had a wonderful few nights stay at the W Shanghai, staying in a lovely cool corner room. Staff were all very helpful and quick to respond to requests. The buffet breakfast was very good, with a global selection of dishes. The only thing that could do with improvement was the tea and coffee service - there was only one barista making all the coffees each morning leading to extremely long waits (with many guests just jumping in and getting their own coffees directly from the barista instead of waiting for table service). Half the time tea would arrive in a pot and the other half just a cup - but missing a teaspoon every time. There were some very minor things that come as second nature to staff at other luxury hotels that were a little missing here but overall a very good stay and would definitely stay again."

"The hotel is located in the White Magnolia Plaza area of Shanghai. From the balcony of the restaurant, guests can enjoy a view across the Huangpu River toward the high-rise skyline of Lujiazui Financial Center. This view is clearly a major selling point, and many guests—including our group of five—came specifically for this experience. However, the service was disappointing from the start. While we were seated in the waiting area before dining—without disturbing others and behaving appropriately, though dressed casually during the holiday—a supervisor with a rather judgmental attitude approached us and asked whether we were “just sitting and resting.” The implication was that this was not a place for non-spending guests, which felt inappropriate and unwelcoming. When we asked whether Marriott Bonvoy elite members receive dining discounts, we were told that “à la carte items are eligible, but set menus are not.” This kind of so-called “discount” feels misleading, and is not something commonly encountered at other high-end Marriott properties in Shanghai. We ordered the set menu priced at RMB 328, which included one appetizer, one main course, and a dessert buffet. The appetizer was mushroom soup, and the main courses were fried prawns and fish—essentially a basic fish and chips style dish with two small pieces of fish, two small prawns, and a large portion of fries. The “dessert buffet” was quite limited, consisting of only about five simple cakes and one ice cream option with four flavors, without any beverages such as coffee or tea included. Overall, both the taste and value for money fall far short of what one would expect from a W Hotel dining experience. Objectively speaking, there are many high-end restaurants and hotels in Shanghai offering similar Bund views. Compared to those, both the accommodation and dining at this hotel offer poor value, and the service mindset is lacking. I would not recommend this hotel."
