PB hotel design editorial

Shenzhen's Futian district skyline is punctuated by the Kingkey 100 tower — a 441-metre glass monolith whose faceted crown, visible in the images as a geometric cluster of angled curtain-wall planes, makes it among the tallest buildings in the city. Park Hyatt Shenzhen is set within the tower's upper floors, beginning above the 90th level, where the Pearl River Delta spreads out on one side and the dense residential grid of Futian on the other. The building was designed by TFP Farrells, the Hong Kong and London practice whose Kowloon MTR station and the Beijing South Railway Station established their credentials in large-scale Chinese infrastructure — applied here to a tower whose stepped massing and faceted corners give it an identity distinct from the smoother supertalls surrounding it. The interiors draw on a contemporary Chinese aesthetic that runs through dark-stained timber fretwork, circular headboard panels in brushed copper set against teal lacquer backdrops, and terracotta-toned upholstered seating arranged against floor-to-ceiling glass. Guestrooms are finished with warm honey-toned marble side tables, patterned wool area rugs, and slender pendant lanterns in blackened metal — references to Song dynasty material culture translated through a modern hospitality lens. The dining spaces deploy deep-toned timber screen columns that filter sightlines in the manner of a traditional Chinese courtyard, while the indoor pool level — encased in a steel-and-glass greenhouse structure perched mid-tower — frames the Shenzhen skyline as the dominant architectural gesture of the amenity floor.

"Great location near the Futian Station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They responded quickly to my requests and anticipated my needs. The hotel atmosphere was very pleasant and luxurious. I got a skyline view room, and the view was stunning. Everything was working as expected, and the room was clean and quiet. Overall, good value and definitely recommend."

"Very good location- though it shares the same building as PA Mall, there is no internal access so you have to walk outside the hotel and onto the street. Still, it is very central to many malls and no more than a couple minutes walk. Hotel amenities were great, highly recommend the spa. Service from staff is excellent and they are very attentive. Will come back again."

"I had high expectations for the Park Hyatt Shenzhen, but unfortunately, my stay fell far short of what a hotel at this price point should deliver. The biggest issue was the breakfast at the Glasshouse on the 47th floor. We went down around 10 AM and found a queue of over 30 people waiting outside for a table. There was no proper management, no alternative arrangements offered, and no apology for the wait. For a luxury hotel charging premium rates, this level of chaos at breakfast is completely unacceptable. The room itself was another letdown. It felt small and oddly laid out – the bathroom took up nearly one-third of the space, leaving the living area cramped and impractical. There was barely enough room to open a large suitcase. For the price charged per night, you would expect a more comfortable and functional space. Overall, this stay offered very poor value for money. Between the endless breakfast queue, the awkward room layout, and the lack of attentive management, I left feeling that the Park Hyatt Shenzhen is riding on its brand name rather than delivering a genuine luxury experience. I would not recommend it and will not be returning."

"Park Hyatt Shenzhen is undoubtedly a top luxury hotel. Rooms are spacious, well furnished and designed. Total black out. Pool area is excellent. The entire journey from the ground floor to the room is flawless. The location is somewhat on the south edge but reasonably close to Coco Park and the nearby metro."
