"This was my first stay at The St. Regis Zhuhai. As it is considered one of the best hotels in the city, I arrived with high expectations. Unfortunately, despite spending several thousand yuan on the room, afternoon tea, and a spa treatment, the overall experience was deeply disappointing. I have previously stayed at St. Regis properties in Osaka and Shanghai, and neither came close to the unacceptable level of service I encountered here. Service was inconsistent throughout my stay, while the butler service appeared to lack proper training, communication, and management. For a luxury hotel, the experience offered neither comfort nor the sense of care one would reasonably expect at this price point. The problems began at check-in, when I had to wait three hours before receiving my room. To compensate for the delay, the front desk proactively offered me a late check-out. The following morning, I contacted the hotel’s 24-hour butler service to enquire about and book a spa treatment. I repeatedly made it clear that I would check out after the treatment, and the butler was fully aware of my schedule, having arranged the spa appointment and remained in contact with me from shortly after 8 a.m. until I left for the spa. However, when I returned to my room after the treatment, my key card no longer worked. I tried it eight times before calling the butler, only to be told that access had been deactivated at noon. This was despite both the front desk and the butler knowing that I had been granted a late check-out and intended to return after the spa. The butler’s explanation was simply that they had “forgotten to tell me” my key-card access would expire at noon. I was then left standing outside my room for another ten minutes while waiting for someone to unlock the door. This was not an isolated inconvenience, but a clear failure of communication and coordination between the front desk and butler service. It is difficult to understand how a guest’s room access could be cancelled despite the hotel having confirmed a late check-out and knowing the guest’s exact schedule. Paying several thousand yuan only to experience delays, inconvenience, and poorly coordinated service was extremely frustrating. Based on this stay, I would not choose to return at my own expense unless absolutely necessary. If waiting three hours for your room and paying several thousand yuan for substandard service sounds appealing, then The St. Regis Zhuhai may be worth considering."

"I’m an Amex Platinum Fine Hotels + Resorts guest and Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member with many stays at this property. I expect butler service to match that standard. It hasn’t. Pre-arrival, the Butler Supervisor confirmed every request in writing, including room configuration. None of it held up on arrival, and she was unreachable when it mattered. I resolved the bed issue myself. What followed was a templated apology with no real explanation. This is a repeat pattern, not a one-off. Too many people touch the butler process with no clear ownership, and no accountability when it fails. This deserves attention beyond the property level. This property needs training."

"We’ve stayed at all but two of the St Regis in China and this property was one of our favorites. Suite was HUGE. Bed was like sleeping in the clouds on the 62nd floor. Gym was well equipped. Breakfast was delicious as usual for the brand but they had the BEST pastries of all St Regis we have been. The butler team was great with requests and emails before- thank you to Joyce Chen, Ruby, and the rest of the team - they were awesome and elevated our experience and we would go back to the hotel just because of them. Jessica in concierge was very helpful and so was Liya at breakfast. Everyone in the hotel greeted us and always offered assistance. Andy the doorman was friendly and helpful and is a great representative of the brand. Tip: Stay at this hotel instead of Macau. We used this property as a base to explore Macau - benefits are better here and going back and forth is very simple. We visited old town Macau via the Wanzai port (<5 minute taxi, 5 minute ferry with NO long queues then just a 5-10 minute walk to the square - no 40 min ride on a bus) and the next day used the Hengqin port to explore new city/the casinos (10 minute cab, walk through immigration - may have que - then free 10 minute shuttle to the strip). Then come home to Zhuhai for a walk by the water and relax away from the craziness and crowds of Macau."
