The building's colonial-era name references the alférez, a military rank that speaks to the social prominence once attached to this corner of the city, and the property has been careful to preserve that sense of layered history rather than erase it in favor of generic comfort. Inside, the rooms carry exposed white-painted timber beam ceilings and wide-plank hardwood floors — details that anchor the interiors in the building's original domestic register while contemporary upholstered headboards in sage linen and dark-stained millwork keep the atmosphere from tipping into pastiche.
