PB hotel design editorial

Medellin's El Poblado neighbourhood, where tree-lined streets soften a skyline of mid-rise residential towers and the Andes press close on the eastern horizon, provided an unlikely setting for one of Colombia's most graphically confident hotels. The Click Clack Hotel arrived in El Poblado with a matte-black steel-and-glass facade that makes no attempt at camouflage — cantilevered floors step out over a ground level dissolved into tropical planting, warm timber screens, and an open-air restaurant terrace that draws the neighbourhood in rather than holding it at arm's length. The building rises seven floors, its dark cladding interrupted by warm bronze reveals and a roofline where planted terraces blur the boundary between architecture and Andean canopy. Inside, the design shifts register depending on where you stand. Guest rooms carry a graphic, almost editorial sensibility — open steel shelving units branded with the hotel's mirrored logotype divide sleeping areas from circulation, while perforated timber headboards, mustard upholstered desk chairs, and pale oak-effect flooring keep the mood warm rather than cold. The rooftop pool is tiled in deep teal, timber sun loungers angled toward the cordillera, the whole terrace more neighbourhood rooftop than resort amenity. Downstairs, the Egeo bar anchors the public ground floor with a circular granite-topped counter beneath a coffered timber drum pendant, exposed ducts overhead, and dense tropical planting pressing against every opening — a studied informality that suits a city increasingly confident in its own creative identity.

"The Hotel was very dark and super hard to see in the hallway. Background music was too loud and the staff did their best to help. My biggest complaint was the coffee was the worse coffee I have ever had in Colombia. I personally would not stay here again. It was worth a try the place over all very beautiful."

"The Click Clack is an interesting place. We stayed here based on online reviews. That was a mistake. Simply put, the Click Clack was not for us. Where to begin.... First of all, the front or entrance of the hotel is obscured by plants and motor cycles. Not welcoming in the least. Once you navigate through the plants and motorcycles, you are confronted with a flight of stairs down to the counter, or the hotel front desk, which is very close to tables in the dining area. Odd setup if you ask us. The area where you check in is, well, not the best. We felt as though we were in the way since 2 elevators are very near as is the bellman's closet. Check-ins are completed on an iPad. Not the best process as we were able to see other guests' data in the system. Not good. The lady that checked us in was the best part of the check-in process. She was polite, kind, and efficient. The room - It was nice. Very unique in its design idea. The water pressure in the shower was inconsistent as was the hot water. The outside patio was unusable due to mosquitos. Food- We only had breakfast here and it was consistently good. Service was good but slow at times. The bad - The hotel is just too noisy for us. Constantly loud music EVERYWHERE. Our room floor vibrated from the thumping of the music. We were on the third floor. Public areas where nicely kept. Mold or mildew on the awing was unfortunate to see. The good- The staff. Everyone we had contact with was very nice and greeted us with a smile. The hotel is located in an area with lots of things to do. Bars, Shopping, Restaurants, etc. In summary- If you are seeking a relaxing place to stay that is mellow and quite this is not the place. If you want a lively, loud, hotel, with several bars and the party life, this is your place."

"Interesting & unusual arty design with lots of greenery around. I would normally like this type of design but overall it’s too gimmicky & I found the hotel very frustrating to navigate. There is no explanation of where things are, & no information on what the different restaurants offer. On checking in no one showed me around my room & explained how everything worked. Even finding all the light switches were a treasure hunt. And I had continued issues with the TV. There are three different sized rooms. Mine was the second largest which was an adequate size. It had a balcony with views. But there is next to no storage space & no where to put suitcases except on the floor. Decor is all very dark particularly all the hallways. I supposed it’s to add atmosphere but to me it was just creepy. My room had a seperate walk in shower room & a seperate toilet room. The bed was comfortable. The wifi is fast & reliable. There is a good breakfast included in the room rate which included both hot & cold choices. The hotel has a small outdoor swimming pool and 5 restaurants. There are also quite a lot of restaurants outside the hotel so there are plenty of choices. Overall I found the hotel annoying & overly gimmicky with staff a bit condescending & not particularly helpful (which may have been a language issue). Overall I found my stay here frustrating & disappointing."

"Everything about this hotel is incredible. I have never been more impressed by how genuinely nice and professional the staff are anywhere I have stayed. From Edward at breakfast to Juan who assisted with our luggage, as well as Tatiana and Anna at dinner. Absolutely impeccable service all round."
