PB hotel design editorial

Perched on a volcanic ridge above the Papagayo Gulf in Guanacaste, where the dry tropical forest drops sharply toward the Pacific, Casa Chameleon at Las Catalinas arranges its villas and public pavilions to exploit one of the most commanding coastal prospects in Costa Rica. The main restaurant and bar structure, visible in the images, draws on an open-sided tropical vernacular — heavy hardwood columns, bamboo-lined ceilings, and a deep-pitched green metal roof — framing the water and the rocky offshore islets as a continuous panorama. The infinity pool, edged in travertine and lined with molded white chaise longues, extends the eye toward the horizon at the precise point where the gulf meets the Nicoya Peninsula's silhouette. The interiors take a different direction from the architecture's regionalism, pulling instead from a global eclecticism that mixes Moroccan carved-wood headboards and pierced geometric screens with Guatemalan kilim runners and hand-hammered silver lamps. Canopied four-poster beds draped in sheer white muslin anchor each villa, set on travertine tile floors warmed by layered textile rugs in coral and saffron. Carved wooden dowry chests sit at the foot of each bed, woven basket accessories and distressed painted furniture adding texture without visual weight. The open-plan connection between bedroom and outdoor shower terrace — folding hardwood and glass doors dissolving the boundary — gives each of the property's eighteen villas the atmosphere of a private compound rather than a conventional hotel room.

"The resort and atmosphere is a dream come true. The Villas are amazing and very accommodating, clean and well equipped. The service is outstanding, personnel is extra friendly, professional, knowledgeable and went out of their way to ensure our stay was excellent, more than what we expected. María, Anna (manager) Karina (Vanessa), Luis, Edward, Harry, & Glen are amazing people. We truly enjoyed and want to highlight Glen who we were fortunate to take us on the zip line, horse and mud adventure. He truly was amazing, provided so much information and was so patient with us. He is truly an asset to your company, truly invested and loves what he does. He is definitely a people person and doing a great job in promoting Casa Chameleon 10 out of 10!"

"If you are looking for the ultimate romantic luxury escape in Costa Rica, Casa Chameleon at Las Catalinas is truly in a league of its own. Estevao and I chose this breathtaking property for our honeymoon, and it exceeded our wildest expectations in every possible way. The architecture and design seamlessly blend with the lush surroundings, creating an atmosphere of pure, secluded luxury. We loved being able to play tennis every single day and stepping out to experience the magic of the pedestrian-only Las Catalinas village. Nothing beat following up a match by stepping right into our personal saltwater plunge pool with panoramic views of the Guanacaste coast. The adults-only environment makes the entire property feel incredibly serene and intimate. The culinary experience was exceptional from start to finish—the daily breakfast was nothing short of spectacular, and the world-class dining and unmatched sunsets at Sentido Norte were truly unforgettable. The entire team was phenomenal. A special mention goes to the incredible housekeeping staff who meticulously maintained our villa, ensuring it was a spotless, welcoming sanctuary to return to each day. We also have to give a massive shoutout to Glenn. He went so far above and beyond to make us feel celebrated throughout our stay. His warmth, genuine attentiveness, and seamless hospitality completely elevated our entire honeymoon experience. We left feeling completely rejuvenated and so well taken care of. Casa Chameleon is a picture-perfect sanctuary, and we cannot wait to return!"

"My husband and I came to Costa Rica to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and our final night in this beautiful country became one of the most special memories of our entire trip. ❤️ We started our journey in La Fortuna and slowly made our way across this incredible country, taking in the beauty, adventure, and everything Costa Rica had to offer. Ending our trip here felt like the perfect way to celebrate 25 years of marriage. From the moment we walked through the doors, Cesar took care of us in a way that was truly unforgettable. There is something incredibly special about him—something magical. His warmth, kindness, and genuine care touched my heart, and the connection I felt with him is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, cared for, and celebrated. They made our final night so incredibly romantic. We spent the evening enjoying drinks at their beautiful restaurant while watching the most breathtaking sunset. It was one of those moments where everything felt perfect—just the two of us, taking in the view and celebrating 25 years together. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and our room was incredible. Every detail made our last night in Costa Rica feel intimate, peaceful, and unforgettable. We came here to celebrate 25 years of marriage, but we’re leaving with memories that will stay in our hearts forever. We already cannot wait to come back and spend a few more days exploring this beautiful area. Thank you, Cesar, and everyone here, for making our 25th wedding anniversary so incredibly memorable and special. You gave us the perfect ending to an amazing journey. ❤️ Pura Vida! 🇨🇷❤️"

"Pros • Special thanks for Stievan. by driving and talking to us with light hearted fun • He was very prompt and would be a great Manager in our opinion. • Erick waitered our breakfast and made the breakfast fun and educational with Costa Rican food and language. • Having foldable chairs for us to use on the beach made all the difference with our predetermined travel time for the beach. The first day we sat on small beach towels they provided but had to worry about ants biting us all day long. I was glad I asked if there were chairs for us to use. • The view overlooking Sand Beach was amazing as we gazed out of our room. • Thank you for the Champagne and chocolate for our anniversary Cons • Arrived at 1pm - Our room was not ready and were told that check in was not utilized 3pm. Had to leave our luggage in the open air lobby, went down to the town in long clothes and were not allowed to go to our room until 3pm. • Had to put a $600 hold on credit card for incidentals. I feel that was incredibly rude for a 4 star resort. • Better communication on Whatsapp to be picked up. An acknowledgement that the resort received the message and would be there would be very helpful. 3 times we would send a message to be picked up with no acknowledgement that they received the message. After 20 minute wait, we would message again which would take another 10 minutes to get us. One of the times was around 8 pm. It was dark and no response after a half hour. It became very uneasy and uncomfortable being a foreigner in your country and without knowing the language. This type of action is not representative of a 4 star resort."
