PB hotel design editorial

Dry-stone walls that predate any notion of hospitality here by centuries define the architectural logic of Villa Nai 3.3, carved into the karst coastline of Dugi Otok — the long, thin Dalmatian island whose Croatian name translates simply as long island. The property's low-slung pavilions are built from the same rough-hewn limestone that has structured this landscape for millennia, their sloping, earth-form rooflines barely rising above the scrubland and ancient olive groves. From above, the complex seems less constructed than excavated, each unit pressing into the hillside so that the building and the terrain become genuinely difficult to distinguish at dusk. The panorama over the Kornati archipelago, visible from every terrace, frames Croatia's most dramatic offshore geography. Inside, the interiors shift register — cool white plaster, travertine floors, and coffered ceilings articulated in geometric relief offset the raw stone feature walls that carry through from the exterior. Suites are furnished with upholstered wingback chairs, canopied four-poster beds, and travertine fireplace surrounds that divide sleeping from living zones without enclosing either. The restaurant ceiling deploys the same layered geometric motif in illuminated plasterwork, while a handcrafted installation of concentric gold and white disc forms covers one wall — a piece that anchors the room between craft tradition and contemporary object. The infinity pool extends toward the Adriatic in travertine, teak sun loungers with powder-blue cushions completing an image that feels quietly, deliberately Dalmatian rather than generically Mediterranean.

"We stayed for 3 nights - we almost immediately felt at home - it’s a remarkeable hotel and a place never to forget The architecture, the team, the restaurant, the olive oil, the owner - it is an unforgetteable combination But above all - it is quiet - impossible not to be zen"

"This is the ultimate in sophisticated, luxury. The hotel design and views are breathtaking . All of the staff are truly exceptional and with that added genuine interest and friendliness that makes all the difference. The food overall is exceptional and the 7 Course tasting menu delivers flavour combinations and presentation of the highest quality. Great recommendations on boat hire, restaurants and places to see - although the tranquility of the Villa questions whether you actually need to leave its confines. We couldn’t fault our experience staying in this impressive and unique hotel. And buy some of their Olive Oil - it is award winning for a reason. Tip: take cash to the island not everywhere takes cards and when driving to the hotel for the first time keep going on the dirt track for some time even if it feels it can’t be right !"

"Villa Nai 3.3 is more than a hotel; it’s a memorable experience in a luxurious setting, surrounded by an atmosphere of absolute serenity amid a grove of century old olive trees. The hotel has only a few rooms, and you rarely encounter more than a handful of people at a time, which reinforces the feeling of being in a tranquil oasis. The olive grove is not just for show, the olive oil produced on-site (the owner himself will graciously offer a tour if he’s available) have won several awards and received top honors at prestigious international competitions! The food offered is refined and of high quality, to the point that during our stay we never really felt the urge to eat outside the property. A few notes, however: the 7-course gourmet menu actually includes 10 courses, which is a bit much! Also, the homemade croissants are sometimes underbaked. That said, the cuisine is generally excellent, and the signature cocktails are definitely worth trying on a beautiful afternoon by the pool. My only suggestion to improve the experience would be to offer a pillow menu. Overall, a memorable experience that is absolutely worth the price."
