PB hotel design editorial

Dry-stone walls that predate any notion of hospitality here by centuries define the architectural logic of Villa Nai 3.3, carved into the karst coastline of Dugi Otok — the long, thin Dalmatian island whose Croatian name translates simply as long island. The property's low-slung pavilions are built from the same rough-hewn limestone that has structured this landscape for millennia, their sloping, earth-form rooflines barely rising above the scrubland and ancient olive groves. From above, the complex seems less constructed than excavated, each unit pressing into the hillside so that the building and the terrain become genuinely difficult to distinguish at dusk. The panorama over the Kornati archipelago, visible from every terrace, frames Croatia's most dramatic offshore geography. Inside, the interiors shift register — cool white plaster, travertine floors, and coffered ceilings articulated in geometric relief offset the raw stone feature walls that carry through from the exterior. Suites are furnished with upholstered wingback chairs, canopied four-poster beds, and travertine fireplace surrounds that divide sleeping from living zones without enclosing either. The restaurant ceiling deploys the same layered geometric motif in illuminated plasterwork, while a handcrafted installation of concentric gold and white disc forms covers one wall — a piece that anchors the room between craft tradition and contemporary object. The infinity pool extends toward the Adriatic in travertine, teak sun loungers with powder-blue cushions completing an image that feels quietly, deliberately Dalmatian rather than generically Mediterranean.

Villa Nai 3.3 Reviews

"This is an incredible hotel. It's only got 8 rooms, and the area itself is so quiet, so it really feels like you're on your own private island. The food and service were fantastic, and the staff, from the owner on down, take obvious pride in the place, as well they should: it's really five star from the floors to the cieling. It's in the middle of an olive grove, and a short walk to its own jetty into the sea. Also, it's built right into the side of the hill, so even though we were there during the "heat dome" -- everything was cool and comfortable the whole time."

"From the moment we arrived at Villa Nai, we knew we were experiencing something truly exceptional. By the end of our stay, we genuinely did not want to leave — and we are already dreaming about returning. What makes Villa Nai so extraordinary is the way the entire team anticipates every need before you even realize you have one. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, and if there is ever something you desire that is not immediately available, they will somehow make it happen effortlessly. The level of hospitality is unlike anything we have experienced. The care began long before we arrived. From our very first email exchange, the staff handled every aspect of our trip seamlessly — transfers, reservations, activities, recommendations — allowing us to simply relax and enjoy. The moment we stepped onto the property, it felt as though the weight of the world disappeared. A sense of calm immediately took over. We stayed for three nights, yet somehow it felt like a full week away because of how beautifully they curated every moment and ensured we fully experienced the island. Every day felt rich, restorative, and unhurried. One of the moments that perfectly captures the spirit of Villa Nai was when my mother-in-law joined us for dinner one evening. From the second she arrived, the team welcomed her with such warmth and genuine care that she felt like an honored guest rather than a visitor. She loved the experience so much that she actually left her Airbnb and booked the remainder of her vacation at Villa Nai. The accommodations were impeccable. Our room was refreshed continuously throughout the day, so it always felt pristine and inviting whenever we returned. We were also treated to thoughtful daily surprises and treats that made the experience feel even more special and personal. The gastronomy deserves its own standing ovation. We dine at Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and the cuisine at Villa Nai genuinely competes with some of the best dining experiences we have had anywhere. The chef is extraordinarily creative, combining textures, flavors, and presentation in ways that feel both refined and playful. Every course felt like an experience rather than simply a meal — a true delight for anyone who loves exceptional food. And the olive oil and bread alone are unforgettable. I have a gluten intolerance and usually cannot enjoy bread while traveling, yet I was able to enjoy theirs without issue — and it was some of the best I’ve ever had. Breakfast each morning was another highlight. The variety was incredible, the ingredients impossibly fresh, and the omelets were the fluffiest I have ever tasted. If you order a croissant, they prepare it from scratch just for you — a small detail that perfectly reflects the level of care throughout the property. What truly elevates Villa Nai beyond even its stunning setting is the staff. Every single person goes above and beyond in a way that feels sincere rather than rehearsed. I genuinely do not think I carried a single bag during our stay. The moment I picked something up, someone was there to assist and graciously escort us wherever we needed to go. The property itself is peaceful and breathtaking. The pool area felt serene and private, and we especially loved the secluded beach and jetty, which became one of our favorite places to unwind after spending time in the sauna and jetted tub circuit. Villa Nai delivers something increasingly rare in luxury hospitality: a stay that feels deeply personal, intuitive, and unforgettable. Whatever your vision of the perfect escape may be, they will make it happen effortlessly. If you want to know what it feels like to be truly cared for — to feel completely pampered, peaceful, and spoiled in the best possible way — book a stay at Villa Nai. You will not regret it."
