Perched on a rocky promontory at Ika, just south of Opatija along Croatia's Kvarner Riviera, a nineteenth-century Austro-Hungarian villa and a crisp contemporary wing share a single seafront garden in one of the Adriatic coast's more quietly assured pairings of old and new. Ikador Luxury Boutique Hotel & Spa brings together these two structures across 35 rooms and suites, the original villa's rendered ochre facade and cypress-framed silhouette anchoring a composition that the modern pavilion — in pale stone with deep-set balconies cantilevered over the Kvarner Gulf — extends rather than overwhelms. The restaurant doubles down on drama: a brass grid ceiling hung with pendant bulbs, dark herringbone oak underfoot, and terracotta-and-navy upholstered chairs arranged beneath a canopy of pendant lights that dissolves any distinction between interior and the night sky beyond the glass.
