PB hotel design editorial

A curved travertine-clad form rising above the Mandalina Peninsula on the edge of Šibenik's marina, the building that houses D-Resort Šibenik carries the silhouette of a ship's prow — an elliptical mass of white concrete fins and full-height glazed balconies stepping down toward the Adriatic in a gesture that is simultaneously monumental and carefully calibrated to its pine-fringed shoreline. The architecture, completed in 2014, was delivered by the Croatian studio 3LHD, whose approach to Dalmatian hospitality has consistently sought to reconcile contemporary structural ambition with the textural quietness of the coast. Inside, the rooms are finished in warm oak flooring and pale timber-clad walls, each anchored by a large-format canvas in bold primary line work that gives the otherwise restrained palette a deliberate jolt of energy. The restaurant runs the full glazed width of the waterfront level, its ceiling lined in horizontal timber slats and hung with oversized fabric pendant lights alongside Tom Dixon Beat pendants in matte black — a contrast that keeps the room from reading as too uniform. From the infinity pool, the marina's working jetties and berthed yachts frame the Šibenik channel, the old city visible across the water. The property's 207 rooms and suites maintain a consistent design language throughout: teak-decked terraces, woven flatweave rugs, and Eames-era task chairs at the desks — modest in their referencing, precise in their effect.

D-Resort Šibenik Reviews

"We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at D-Resort Šibenik. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful, from the bellboys and reception team to the waiting staff in the resort's restaurants and bars. The resort itself was spotless throughout our stay, with a clear attention to detail in every area. The food was consistently excellent, with a great selection and high-quality ingredients. What really stood out was the standard of service. Having visited a number of restaurants and bars elsewhere during our trip, where the service was often disappointing, the difference at D-Resort Šibenik was remarkable. The staff here are clearly very well trained, and it shows. Other restaurants and bars could learn a great deal from the standards set by this resort. Overall, we had a truly relaxing and enjoyable holiday and would not hesitate to recommend D-Resort Šibenik to anyone looking for outstanding hospitality, excellent food, and a first-class guest experience."

"This is a great looking hotel in a lovely position on the coast. Rooms are spacious and Breakfast offering is good with lots of fresh fruit and salads, hot buffet, cakes and cereals. Staff were a mixed bag, some helpful and smiling others abrupt and brusque. Rooms need a bit of updating - usb ports next to beds would help. Soundproofing is not great. Disappointed to read showers flood bathroom in review of 2024 and this is still happening. I did not want to spend time on my holiday on my hands and knees mopping up the bathroom!! Room 311."

"An excellent hotel, with superb staff. This was our first visit and we plan to return in September. I recommend a deluxe room rather than superior as the former overlooks the marina whereas the latter has air con units below them. Breakfast has plenty of choice with lots of fresh fruit and salads, as well as hot options. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening but the prices are comparable to those in Sibenik. We did use the bar and prices are on a par with the UK. Gym has two bikes, two treadmills , one cross trainer, weights rack plus multi station. Sauna and steam room are good. Biggest plaudits go to the staff, and whoever runs training for the hotel should be congratulated. All are superb. Sibenik, which is lovely and easy paced - though we did,by design, miss the cruise boats - is easy to get to via water taxi or cab. We have stayed in many hotels across Europe and Africa and this is one of the best."
