PB hotel design editorial

That white Moorish palace visible through Tivoli's famous gardens has stood at the heart of Copenhagen's most beloved public space since 1909, its horseshoe arches, minarets, and oxidised copper onion dome designed by Knud Arne Petersen in a romantic orientalist idiom that was already delightfully anachronistic when it was built. Nimb Hotel carved just 17 rooms from this listed structure when it opened in 2008, a deliberately intimate scale that keeps the building's identity as a Tivoli landmark intact rather than subordinating it to hotel logic. The interiors work against the building's fairytale exterior with deliberate force. Rooms are dressed in deep charcoal walls, wide-plank oak floors, and substantial four-poster beds in brass or darkened steel — a masculine palette drawn closer to a sophisticated Copenhagen apartment than to anything suggested by the white stucco facade outside. Antique lacquered side tables and scroll-armed chairs upholstered in crushed silver velvet introduce eclecticism without chaos, while a PH floor lamp grounds the sitting areas in Danish modernist lineage. The rooftop pool, tiled in teal mosaic, delivers one of the more arresting urban views in Scandinavia — the pointed spires of Tivoli's older pavilions rising just above the parapet. The restaurant below carries the same dark panelling and glazed arched windows, tiered pendant lights casting warm amber across black marble table tops and nailhead-trimmed dining chairs.

"Whenever I travel to Copenhagen, I always stay at Nimb Hotel. From the moment you arrive until the day you leave, you truly feel at home. The staff are exceptional—warm, attentive, and always happy to share their recommendations for the best places to visit in the city. Every single person we met played a part in making our stay so memorable. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. We stayed in a Junior Suite overlooking Tivoli, which is such a magical and unique experience that you can only have at Nimb. What impressed me most was the incredible attention to detail. The room was filled with thoughtful touches, from workout equipment and little gifts to a complete skincare routine, with the same products available in the spa. They really have thought of everything. The spa is incredibly peaceful, and breakfast is simply outstanding. There is an impressive buffet with exceptional-quality products, as well as an à la carte menu offering everything from chia pudding to beautifully prepared breakfast dishes. A special thank you to Bouja at breakfast, who was so kind and attentive. By our second morning, she already knew exactly what we liked before we even had to ask. Uffe is simply the best—his recommendations made our days in Copenhagen even more special. Enrika’s cocktails were fantastic, Maya was incredibly welcoming, and every member of the team made us feel genuinely cared for. We always leave Nimb with wonderful memories, and every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. We can’t wait to return."

"Stayed here originally due to my Hilton Diamond membership, and Nimb did not disappoint - outstanding service, especially pre-arrival to arrange meetups for some Danish friends. Breakfast buffet is over the top, room quality top-notch. Tie-in with Tivoli gardens - ease of going back and forth, and watching the concerts from the terrace - was a lot of fun. Even at the height of summer, the staff was relaxed and friendly and provided everything we needed. A fantastic experience."

"We have just had the pleasure of staying in this exceptional hotel. The standard is extremely high with every need catered for ( and some you didn’t even know you had!) Gorgeous products in the bathroom with high end snacks and drinks in the complementary mini bar. I have to mention particularly the staff who were polite and respectful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay a fantastic experience. Our room was beautiful with seating areas and windows opening onto Tivoli gardens. It is worth noting that on a Friday night there is a very loud concert on in Tivoli and this goes on until midnight. However, the hotel doesn’t try to hide this and even gives you complementary snacks and beer to enjoy whilst listening to the concert. It is generally a noisy experience being part of Tivoli and whilst this is a beautiful setting it’s not the place to stay if you are a light sleeper or looking for a peaceful retreat."
