PB hotel design editorial

Cap Cana's marina district on the eastern tip of Hispaniola provided an unlikely canvas for one of the Dominican Republic's most ambitious resort developments, and Eden Roc Cap Cana has spent the years since its opening trying to reconcile grand-scale Caribbean resort architecture with something closer to a private estate. The property's low-rise pavilions spread along a generous stretch of white-sand beach, their thatched-roof structures — visible in the aerial view — grounding the development in vernacular Caribbean form while the pool terraces step toward the shoreline in travertine and pale limestone, the water a saturated turquoise that mirrors the reef beyond the palm line. The interior design operates across two distinct registers, which is perhaps the most honest thing about it. Certain room categories — visible in the images — favour a heavily ornamented colonial-revival palette: cream-lacquered four-poster beds with spool-turned posts, marble-inlaid floors with black-scroll borders, tufted bergère chairs in champagne velvet, and chartreuse ceramic lamps. Elsewhere, a quieter contemporary language takes over, with warm walnut millwork, carved wooden headboard screens with geometric fretwork, ikat-patterned throw blankets, and sliding doors framing direct ocean sightlines. The restaurant spaces strike a more coherent note — exposed painted timber rafters above cane-back bistro chairs and a deep teal-tiled bar counter — giving the food and beverage areas a considered tropical modernism that the guest rooms are still working toward.

"Amazing place, amazing staff! Hill and Andy were our personal concierges for the week and they could not have been more amazing. I highly recommend this place to anyone, but especially for families with kids. They went above and beyond to make our vacation as smooth and enjoyable as possible."

"Our stay at the Eden Rock Resort in Punta Cana was absolutely fantastic. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The facilities were stunning, everything was spotless, and the food was just amazing. A truly special moment was when the staff realized it was our honeymoon—they surprised us by setting up our room in the most romantic way when we returned one evening. It made our trip even more unforgettable.”"

"We had the best 3 days at the Eden Roc Cap Cana. Incredible hotel, service, beach, pool, food- amazing experience and will definitely be back! Our concierges Miguel and Braulio were incredible and went above and beyond. The service was amazing. Miguel helped my husband arrange an amazing 30th birthday surprise with couples massage and an amazing private dinner on the beach with a violinist. My husband is a golfer and he golfed at the course there and it was incredible!! I took a aeroyoga class with Allan which was amazing and such a fun experience. We keep kosher and this hotel is a MUST visit if you keep kosher. Allan (who runs the kosher food) was amazing and so knowledgeable and the food was incredible, especially the mixed drinks and the meats. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Blue and it was all amazing! Highly recommend also ordering the beach snacks, was so great to have kosher food on the beach. Must try the tenderloin steak, ribeye, fish tacos, fried fish and fries (on the beach), all mixed drinks. I would say to skip the full board and just order everything a la carte I think we would’ve saved some money there just ordering individually because it is a ton of food, but you can’t go wrong either way. It was so fun having the golf cart to drive around cap cana, we stayed in the villa with a private pool which was incredible! The villa itself is a little dated in style but really beautiful and clean and so private, we loved it. If you can do it, the beach bungalows look incredible. The main area of the hotel is incredibly beautiful. Loved the spa, had a great massage and facial. The beach is amazing! It has lots of waves so there’s no water sports or snorkeling on the beach at the hotel but it was incredible. Very very chill relaxed vibe at the hotel not at all a party vibe. Amazing area, cap Cana is very upscale and fully gated and so so safe. Great to go with kids also! We will definitely be back!!"

"This was our fourth visit to this magnificent resort. Dining was impressive as expected, big thanks to the staff at Blue and La Palapa, especially the chefs, Alex and Mikhail respectively for going out of their way to accommodate our dietary preferences. Our concierge Orlando and Samira and managers Gregory Ryan have become family members to us now. We are already deciding our next visit to the resort."
