PB hotel design editorial

San Stefano has carried weight in Alexandria's social imagination since the nineteenth century, when its casino and grand corniche hotels made this stretch of the Mediterranean coast Egypt's most fashionable summer address. The Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano is set within a sweeping crescent tower rising roughly twenty-five floors above the waterfront, its facade articulated with Andalusian-inflected turrets and curved glass curtain walls that catch the light off the sea — a piece of resort architecture that aims for grandeur through sheer symmetrical mass rather than restraint. The pool deck at its base, visible in the images, unfolds toward private beach frontage, the blue mosaic-tiled swimming pool curving in a generous arc that mirrors the building's own concave profile. Inside, the hotel holds two distinct interior registers in productive tension. The original tower rooms draw on a Louis XVI vocabulary — carved plasterwork friezes, gilded bedside chests, Murano-style bronze chandeliers, blue-and-white ceramic lamps, and powder-blue upholstered armchairs — that places itself firmly in the tradition of Alexandrian belle époque taste, the kind of interior that might have existed in one of the city's great early-twentieth-century apartments. The beach villa accommodations, photographed separately, shift register entirely: coffered white ceilings, indigo linen headboards, jute rugs, and abstract framed prints read as a quieter coastal-contemporary language. The dining rooms, wrapped in gold floral wallcovering and dressed with cane-back chairs, frame unobstructed views across the harbor to the open Mediterranean beyond.

Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano Reviews

"We enjoyed our stay at this very polished hotel. Our room was spacious, elegantly furnished and comfortable. We really enjoyed the wonderful breakfast buffet at the Beach restaurant, where we also had dinner several times, and lunch at the lobby lounge was pleasant. Even though the hotel was busy with an overseas delegation's visit, the staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful throughout (including greeting us by name at first sight at the breakfast buffet). The beach area is pleasant, and the hotel certainly makes the most of a slightly difficult site, split by the Corniche, but with easy access to the beach area via its underground tunnel."

"We spent 11 nights at Four Seasons Alexandria and could not fault it. Every staff member made us feel very welcome. The service is excellent and some staff went out of their way to make our stay special. The breakfast staff always welcomed us by name and would always ask how our day before had been. The hotel and grounds are immaculate. If we ever find ourselves in Alexandria again we will 100% return to The Four Seasons Hotel"

"The hotel is fine but fine isn’t what I normally think of with a Four Seasons. The service is lacking for a five star hotel and we had issues that were not that bad but not expected at this type of hotel. For example being questioned fairly aggressively regarding our room number to use the spa facilities numerous times. Staff are everywhere lots of them and usually not doing to much but we had to flag most of them down just to make a request. The hotel is extremely large and you need to effective walk through a network of tunnels to get to breakfast which is on the other side of the road near the beach roughly a 5-10 minute walk. Room is comfortable and clean and if I was paying less money I probably wouldn’t raise the issues but I don’t think we would return."

"Wonderful place to stay. The decorations in the building are very impressive. The personnel treats you like family from the first second you enter. All services work very efficiently. The room, facing the sea, was extremely beautiful. We visited Italian and Arabesque restaurants. Both of them with delicious food. In the Arabesque we received a special attention from Yousef. He made the dinner very special, giving us the opportunity to taste Egyptian food and drinks. The hotel is together with shopping mall as well. We requested transportation services, also perfect. We are so happy, and we recommend to everybody. We appreciate a lot the kindness of everybody, specially Sofia, working in breakfast restaurant"
