PB hotel design editorial

San Stefano has carried weight in Alexandria's social imagination since the nineteenth century, when its casino and grand corniche hotels made this stretch of the Mediterranean coast Egypt's most fashionable summer address. The Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano is set within a sweeping crescent tower rising roughly twenty-five floors above the waterfront, its facade articulated with Andalusian-inflected turrets and curved glass curtain walls that catch the light off the sea — a piece of resort architecture that aims for grandeur through sheer symmetrical mass rather than restraint. The pool deck at its base, visible in the images, unfolds toward private beach frontage, the blue mosaic-tiled swimming pool curving in a generous arc that mirrors the building's own concave profile. Inside, the hotel holds two distinct interior registers in productive tension. The original tower rooms draw on a Louis XVI vocabulary — carved plasterwork friezes, gilded bedside chests, Murano-style bronze chandeliers, blue-and-white ceramic lamps, and powder-blue upholstered armchairs — that places itself firmly in the tradition of Alexandrian belle époque taste, the kind of interior that might have existed in one of the city's great early-twentieth-century apartments. The beach villa accommodations, photographed separately, shift register entirely: coffered white ceilings, indigo linen headboards, jute rugs, and abstract framed prints read as a quieter coastal-contemporary language. The dining rooms, wrapped in gold floral wallcovering and dressed with cane-back chairs, frame unobstructed views across the harbor to the open Mediterranean beyond.

"We stay at Four Seasons Alexandria at San Stefano every year, and it continues to feel like a second home. A special thank you to Mr. Ahmed, Reception Duty Manager, and Mr. Mohannad El-Khouly for their professionalism, care, and personal attention. The housekeeping team, Fresca staff, breakfast restaurant team, and of course the team at the swimming pool and beach side are always excellent, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about their work. The atmosphere is truly five-star, yet still personal and family-oriented. Highly recommended for anyone looking for exceptional service and genuine hospitality in Alexandria."

"I happen to stop by here, because my tour guide recommended the day pass to this beach when my hotel's private beach's ocean water was full of trash and microplastics (Hilton Alexandria Corniche). I am so glad this was even an option as I got to experience the atmosphere and amenities at Four Seasons. I have status at Hilton so I didn't even bother looking at other hotels, but I will now after this experience. Day pass was reasonable in fee for towel, lounge chair, umbrella, and ice box with 3 cold bottles of water. The water here was clean! Who knew this would be a commodity in Alex? This was my first time in Egypt, and if I return to Alex, I will consider this hotel for the clean beach access. The sunset was also so beautiful to watch from here. TY goes out to Zaid who helped serve me on the beach - very friendly guy! I came to the beach 2 days in a row and on the final night, I did try out their beach restaurant. I ordered the sea stew and shrimp palmito salad. They were both excellent! And that bread that's served? Wow! So freshly baked. I told the server Mina that the shrimp on the salad was grilled to perfection - seasoned very well (but not overly) with a crust on the outside (hard to do). The salad came with quite a number of shrimps and the heart of palm was so good. Needless to say, I was stuffed and took half of my salad back to my hotel. I wanted the rest of my bread packed, and they packed a whole new loaf! If this is how you treat visitors to the hotel, I don't know how you would treat regular clients. I am quite impressed, and now Four Seasons is on my radar for future vacation plans."

"This was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. From the very first moment, I felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. A very special thank you to Mr. Ahmed Bastawy, who leads the beach team with outstanding professionalism. His attention to detail and dedication made a remarkable difference throughout our experience. A heartfelt thank you to Hesham, who went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Before we even had to ask, he already knew our preferences and always made sure everything was exactly the way we liked it. That level of personalized service is truly exceptional. I would also like to thank Nada for her warm and welcoming smile, and Mariam and Ola for being so friendly and constantly checking on us to make sure we were enjoying every moment. A big thank you as well to the F&B team, especially Ahmed Khaled and Bassant. Their kindness, professionalism, prompt service, and attention to every detail made every dining experience enjoyable. Finally, my deepest appreciation goes to Mostafa and Ziad. Their hospitality was outstanding, and their positive attitude never faded despite working long hours under the hot sun. They always served guests with genuine smiles and incredible dedication. They are a true credit to the hotel, and the level of service they provide is something to be proud of. Thank you to everyone who made this experience so unforgettable. It wasn’t just a visit—it was an experience filled with genuine hospitality, care, and memories that will stay with us for a long time. I can’t wait to come back!"

"My Disappointing Experience at Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria It is never easy to write negatively about a place that once created some of my most cherished memories. Last year, I stayed at Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria for fifteen days, and it was an exceptional experie nce. That wonderful stay was the reason I chose to return this year. Before arriving, I also enjoyed an outstanding stay at Four Seasons Cairo, which strengthened my confidence that I would receive the same high standards in Alexandria. Unfortunately, my recent experience was completely different. From the moment I arrived, I faced several disappointments. The first room I was assigned had a strong damp and musty odor. Due to my sensitivity to humidity, I requested a room change, but the second room had the same issue. The unpleasant smell remained throughout my stay. The breakfast experience was also disappointing. On several occasions, front-row tables with beautiful views were marked as “reserved” even though they remained empty for long periods. This gave me the impression that some guests were receiving special treatment, which is not acceptable in a luxury hotel where fairness and professionalism should always be maintained. The room service and housekeeping were far below the standards I have experienced at other Four Seasons properties. Towels and bathroom amenities were not consistently replaced, some requests were not fulfilled, and the attention to detail was disappointing. Another major issue was the maintenance noise during my stay. Continuous hammering and construction work from nearby rooms made it impossible to rest for several hours. Although I contacted the hotel and received apologies, the solution did not match the level of service expected from a five-star luxury brand. The condition of the room itself was also a serious disappointment. The persistent musty smell, visible carpet stains, and unpleasant odors from the carpet and pillows were shocking for a hotel carrying the Four Seasons name. I shared my concerns with management, and they acknowledged the issues and apologized. While there was some improvement afterward, the experience remained far below the exceptional standards I have always associated with Four Seasons. What saddens me most is that, after my wonderful stay last year, I confidently recommended Four Seasons Alexandria to my family and friends. After this experience, I can no longer do so with the same confidence. I am sharing this feedback not out of anger, but with the sincere hope that the hotel management and Four Seasons leadership will review these concerns. A luxury brand is built on consistency, and guests choose Four Seasons because they trust its name. I truly hope Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria returns to the exceptional standards for which the brand is known. Until then, unfortunately, I cannot recommend the hotel based on my recent experience."
