PB hotel design editorial

Whitewashed Nubian-inflected massing stepping down toward the Red Sea in low, earth-toned terraces — this is the architectural language that defines Four Seasons Sharm El Sheikh, a 136-room resort that has held its position on the Sinai Peninsula's Ras Um Sid headland since 1999. The compound draws on traditional Egyptian vernacular forms: arched openings, crenellated parapets, and thick rendered walls in the warm sandstone palette of Upper Egypt, all arranged across a landscaped hillside dense with mature date palms and bougainvillea. The massing deliberately avoids the monolithic hotel block, instead distributing accommodation across low-rise pavilions that cascade toward the sea, framing views of Tiran Island sitting in the gulf's blue mouth. Recent renovations have brought the interiors into a quieter, more contemporary register without abandoning the resort's essential warmth. Guestrooms now carry woven-grass headboard panels, bleached oak millwork with carved detail inserts, and travertine flooring that keeps the atmosphere closer to a well-appointed Cairene residence than a corporate resort room. Barrel-backed sofas upholstered in dove grey anchor the seating areas, while teak-decked dining terraces cantilevered above the water serve as the resort's most atmospheric spaces — teak-and-sling chairs at square tables, patio heaters in cage-lantern form, and nothing between the diner and the Tiran Island silhouette but the flat, improbably turquoise surface of the Red Sea.

"The property is beautiful, the staff is super attentive and friendly, and the food great. After visiting Cairo and Luxor, this was a great place to relax, and to enjoy both great views and the inviting Red Sea. Thanks for the great family visit!"

"My room in Sharm El Sheikh felt like an absolute dream — truly one of the most beautiful rooms I have stayed in. The location was also perfect, within walking distance of Soho Square, a lively and vibrant area filled with restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and wonderful energy in the evenings. Throughout my stay, I felt extremely safe and comfortable. The diving center at the Four Seasons provided outstanding service, and I had a fantastic scuba diving experience with a highly professional and attentive team. I stayed at 3109, close to SoHo and overlooking the swimming pool. The service was in impeccable and also the room was super luxury."

"After a previous exceptional weekend at the FS Nile plaza in Cairo my family and I stayed at Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh in April and had a fantastic overall experience We loved our newer renovated room. Ours felt modern, spacious, and very well designed, with a noticeable difference compared to older photos you may see online. The reef is absolutely stunning and one of the best features of the resort. Snorkeling directly from the jetty near our room was incredibly easy and less busy than the other jetty area. Service ( often using your name) was exceptional throughout our stay. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful, always going the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. From beach/pool to housekeeping to restaurant staff, the level of care was consistently high. Any minor issues( and they were minor) were dealt with without any fuss. Guest feedback seemed to be welcomed which was refreshing. Direct access to Soho square shopping complex ( although a bit tacky) gave us alternative eating options and a good pub for watching football if thats your thing. However we prefered to stay in the resort itself as it was is beautiful, very well maintained and spacious. Four seasons delivered on their promise once again. Well done everyone. We will be back."
