PB hotel design editorial

A Georgian country house set within 240 acres of Ascot parkland, its stuccoed facades and mansard-roofed pavilions arranged around lawns that roll uninterrupted toward ancient cedars and a polo ground — Coworth Park opened in 2010 as the first hotel owned outright by the Dorchester Collection, and it carries that ambition in every considered detail. Kit Kemp, whose work at Firmdale Hotels had already established a particular idiom of English country-house design recalibrated for contemporary taste, led the interiors through a palette of warm cream, pale oak, and carefully chosen artwork that keeps the house feeling lived-in rather than preserved. The rooms are distinguished by a recurring motif of wrought-iron bed frames fashioned as bare winter branches — part sculptural object, part winking reference to the surrounding woodland — set against walls in soft ivory with linen-upholstered headboards and textured cushions in fur and tangerine that introduce warmth without sentimentality. The bar carries the same light touch: olive-green leather tub chairs, green marble bistro tables, and a large-format equine photograph above the fireplace acknowledge the polo heritage of the estate with wit rather than cliché. A contemporary spa pavilion with a full-length indoor pool, lit in deep cerulean and lined with mosaic-clad columns holding amethyst sculptures, sits apart from the main house in its own calm register. Across 70 rooms and suites, the property holds the balance between English pastoral and quietly modern hospitality with considerable assurance.

"An incredible place to stay. Staff are welcoming, and deliver first class service. The spa is beautiful and completely relaxing. Nothing is too much trouble. A real haven in the countryside."

"This is an exceptional hotel. Nothing short of 5*s for 5* hotel. Thank you to all the team (inside and outside and some who are invisible; kitchens and housekeeping) for a truly memorable stay the weekend of March 7th 2026. Even if the skies were grey and gloomy the hotel and grounds were such a magical retreat from the "real-world" for a re-set weekend and we did loads of walking in both the grounds, and the full loops of Virgina Water (c.4.75miles) and enjoyed the health-complex, the afternoon log fires, and some spetacular food at both the Barn but also Coworth's hit attraction of Michelin-starred Woven. The rooms and appointments throughout the main house and the stunning bedrooms are lux but ultra-stated and the whole hotel has that solid, timeless, quality feeling that immediately puts you at ease. Particular thanks to General Manager Zoe who helped organise our stay and huge credit to overseeing such a capable team and much-deserved 5* hotel status. with our thanks, S + A"

"Booked as a present for my husband's 50th and it did not disappoint - we were so well looked after from the second we arrived and made to feel very special. Special mention to Andre who was so kind, caring and attentive. Our room was gorgeous and the special treats a wonderful surprise. We had dinner in Woven and WOW - every mouthful was amazing and didn't want it to end!"

"After a couple of teething issues at first, often the way, but we had a lovely few days. Our bathroom night light didn't work, and we often get up in the night for a little tinkle, so we needed a soft light, and the phone chargers didnt work by the bedside table. Zoe Morgan was just fabulous and got it all sorted with a smile on her face and a really patient and friendly attitude. She is like the Mary Poppins of Coworth Park, and guest relations!!! She even showed us other rooms in case we wanted to move. Zoe J ( GM ) if you are reading this, then as Im sure you're aware, Zoe M is a fabulous member of your staff. Place is spotless and well kept, spa treatments are super. The food in Woven is worth the spend, and a culinary delight. A huge shout out to Tom and Annabel there, and Matthew and Benji who work elsewhere at CP. Your 5 ( including Zoe ) are the team that will drive us back to Coworth, instead of us weekending at Chewton Glen or Lucknam Park. Thank you all, beautiful gardens, friendly staff especially those whom I've mentioned and all in all a truly great retreat. We will see you next time. Miss Summers, room 38"

"Another delightful stay at Coworth Park. This time housed in the stables area (a first for us), it was nice to try something new. The rooms are of simpler yet comfortable design. The team as always were warm, welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was very tasty - especially the rib crumpet. The food has certainly elevated everywhere since Adam Smith has arrived. We did encounter some minor issues but the extremely apologetic team resolved them quick and did everything they could to say sorry. We like the small touches done to the spa area, it does make it feel warmer. Please find way to serve champagne poolside, it would make a huge improvement, but that’s me. There is no doubt we will return yet again, hopefully to try some of the newly refurbished rooms i spotted underway. (didn’t cause disturbances)"
