PB hotel design editorial

A Georgian country house set within 240 acres of Ascot parkland, its stuccoed facades and mansard-roofed pavilions arranged around lawns that roll uninterrupted toward ancient cedars and a polo ground — Coworth Park opened in 2010 as the first hotel owned outright by the Dorchester Collection, and it carries that ambition in every considered detail. Kit Kemp, whose work at Firmdale Hotels had already established a particular idiom of English country-house design recalibrated for contemporary taste, led the interiors through a palette of warm cream, pale oak, and carefully chosen artwork that keeps the house feeling lived-in rather than preserved. The rooms are distinguished by a recurring motif of wrought-iron bed frames fashioned as bare winter branches — part sculptural object, part winking reference to the surrounding woodland — set against walls in soft ivory with linen-upholstered headboards and textured cushions in fur and tangerine that introduce warmth without sentimentality. The bar carries the same light touch: olive-green leather tub chairs, green marble bistro tables, and a large-format equine photograph above the fireplace acknowledge the polo heritage of the estate with wit rather than cliché. A contemporary spa pavilion with a full-length indoor pool, lit in deep cerulean and lined with mosaic-clad columns holding amethyst sculptures, sits apart from the main house in its own calm register. Across 70 rooms and suites, the property holds the balance between English pastoral and quietly modern hospitality with considerable assurance.

"Our recent stay at Coworth Park Hotel was every bit as magical as we remembered from our mini-moon in 2018. We returned for an early 40th birthday celebration, and it exceeded expectations once again. The hotel itself is simply incredible, the rooms are stunning, the food is exceptional, and the newly refurbished spa is absolutely beautiful. But what truly sets this place apart is the staff. They are outstanding: warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, striking the perfect balance without ever feeling intrusive. Set within breathtaking surroundings, it’s the kind of place you never want to leave. This stay was just as special as our first, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return again. Worth every penny, we cannot recommend it highly enough."

"We stayed at Coworth Park after we got married in 2014, and I wrote a review back then, saying what a wonderful time we’d had. We returned, finally, this weekend, 11 years later, and it was just as gorgeous. Honestly the staff are exceptional!! Everyone is helpful, knowledgeable & friendly. Our room was beautiful & very comfortable. I usually struggle to sleep in hotels but this doesn’t seem to be a problem here. We’d been left a card welcoming us back which was such a sweet touch. The food was so good !!!!!! Again the service and the staff were next level. Everything on the menu can be explained to you if needed, most things are made or baked in house, delicious. Do not hesitate, just treat yourself, you’ll love it."

"A Joyful, Heart‑Warming Escape From the moment my wife and I drove through the beautiful grounds, we felt an immediate lift — it was a mix of excitement and joy we just felt we were somewhere special. The valet and front‑of‑house team greeted us with such enthusiasm and genuine warmth that it felt like arriving to stay with some friends. We arrived early and so wandered through the peaceful grounds, taking in the countryside views and statues. Then were escorted to our gorgeous room. It was elegant, modern, and so comfortable. After unpacking we sat by the window with a glass of champagne, looking out over the gardens, it was one of those simple moments that just makes you smile. The spa was next on our list this added to our experience of relaxation and calm. The staff were so kind and welcoming, and the swim and steam room was fantastic. Dinner at The Barn, delicious food, a lovely atmosphere, and a team who made the whole experience feel special. Fed and watered we returned to our lovely room and four‑poster bed agreeing how perfect our day had been. The whole experience was fantastic and we drove away feeling refreshed, uplifted, and genuinely happy. We’ll definitely be returning hopefully for a longer stay. A special thank you to Andre the breakfast manager who made us feel so welcome ."

"A truly exceptional spa experience. Set in the heart of a stunning park, this is a peaceful retreat where you immediately feel removed from the outside world. The surroundings are simply beautiful calm, elegant, and perfectly maintained. From the moment you arrive, the experience is flawless. The reception team welcomes you with genuine warmth and charm, always attentive and ready to assist with a smile, making you feel instantly at ease. The facilities are outstanding: a beautiful pool, excellent steam bath, sauna, snow room, and a well-equipped fitness area all designed to enhance relaxation and wellbeing. The treatments, whether facial or body, are of outstanding quality. A special mention to Courtney, who delivers what can only be described as the queen of treatments highly professional, attentive, and incredibly skilled. Her expertise elevates the entire experience. To complete the experience, the restaurants are simply lovely, offering great healthy food in a refined and relaxing setting. If you’re looking for tranquility, top-tier service, and exceptional treatments, this spa is hard to beat"
