PB hotel design editorial

The limestone facade on Park Lane, where a sequence of tall steel-framed windows looks directly across to Hyde Park, belongs to one of Mayfair's most enduring addresses — a building completed in 1929 to a design by Lutyens collaborator and architect Paul Waterhouse, whose Beaux-Arts detailing still dominates the streetscape. Grosvenor House Suites was carved from a portion of the original Grosvenor House hotel complex, repositioned as an apart-hotel offering 130 suites across multiple categories, the building's interwar bones providing a formal counterpoint to the contemporary interiors fitted within. Two distinct interior languages coexist here. The standard suites, visible in the room images, take a clean modernist direction — tall upholstered headboards in charcoal flannel, dark-stained walnut floors, glass-topped ottomans, and dark steel window frames that echo the building's original industrial glazing. The penthouse-level suites shift register entirely, deploying a high-contrast monochrome palette of lacquered ebony panelling, silver-trimmed cabinetry, cream velvet curved sofas, and black leather club chairs arranged around a working fireplace, the walls lined with grids of black-and-white photography in a manner closer to a private Mayfair flat than a hotel suite. The interior courtyard restaurant cuts against both registers — a dense tropical planting scheme of areca palms, orchids, and amaranth erupting against grey upholstery and terracotta leather cushions, injecting genuine exuberance into an otherwise disciplined property.

"My husband and I stayed at he Grosvenor House Suites for a week, a year ago , May 2025. We were upgraded to a beautiful two bedroom suite upon arrival which was marvelous. Everything about our stay was perfection, from the housekeeping staff to the room service to the front desk to the wonderful Concierge staff. We loved our stay so much that we are returning to the Grosvenor House Suites the beginning of October for a week to celebrate my husband’s birthday at your extraordinary hotel. Can’t wait to be back and see all of you again! Jane and Steve Flechner"

"We had an excellent stay at this hotel with my family. The location is outstanding, with easy access to Oxford Street, Harrods, and Hyde Park, making it ideal for shopping, sightseeing, and family outings. The hotel has a pleasant and welcoming environment, and we were particularly impressed by the cleanliness, security, and professionalism of the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay. Amazing staff at the reception, Yassir, Loubna, and Veridic who made me and the family feel home. Overall, a wonderful choice for families looking for a safe, clean, comfortable, and conveniently located hotel in central London. Highly recommended!"

"The location is excellent. It is in easy range of many of London's great landmarks and just across a (busy) road from Hyde Park. The atmosphere is totally cheerless. The decor is based upon modernistic dark grey and is angular and oppressive throughout. Dark grey edifice looms over the dining area; black material clads the walls of all corridors; black tiled flooring throughout the suite (unheated even in the bathroom); black bath surround, walls and wash basins. Lighting glooms from black crevices and is inadequate; not enough light to shave by. After 2 nights, we felt utterly depressed by the environment. Pricing is on a par with the area. Food was prepared to a high standard although I found payment of £42 for a rather ordinary English breakfast somewhat excessive as was a total of £138 for quite a straightforward breakfast for two. Dining in the evening, we were the only people eating in 'The Atrium' which is what passes for the only restaurant here. There were disparate groups of other guests sitting and talking on the sofas littered around the area but no-one else at tables or eating. This area is dominated by farcical artificial trees in unrealistically intense full bloom. I was astounded on checkout to find that over £33 had been added as a service charge for a meal costing £88. Something to watch for I suggest. Service was excellent if over-the-top at times. We both found the obsequious behaviour, which the maid staff had clearly been compelled to adopt, rather discomfitting. Not a venue we shall choose to revisit."

"We stayed at Grosvenor House Suites for 2 nights from May 23, and it was truly one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. We were traveling to celebrate both our wedding anniversary and our baby's first birthday, and the staff made our stay incredibly special. 1. Exceptional pre-arrival service Before we arrived, the hotel emailed us to ask if we needed anything for our stay. Since we were traveling with a baby, they prepared everything in advance, including a bottle sterilizer, toys, baby bath amenities, and a fully set-up baby crib. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully arranged. 2. Outstanding staff The service was exceptional from every staff member we encountered. Dora, in particular, was incredibly kind and welcoming. She remembered our names, greeted us warmly every day, and always checked whether we needed anything. Every member of the team made us feel genuinely cared for. 3. Wonderful surprises for our special occasion We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and our baby's first birthday. The hotel surprised us with not one, but two cakes during our stay. In fact, they provided the very first birthday cake our baby ever had. It was such a thoughtful gesture and something our family will never forget. 4. Delicious breakfast The breakfast was excellent. Everything was fresh, high quality, and delicious. 5. Far better than other luxury hotels we stayed at We spent three nights at another five-star hotel during the same trip, and honestly, there was no comparison. Grosvenor House Suites was significantly better in every aspect. We had already booked the other hotel and couldn't cancel it, but if we had known how wonderful Grosvenor House Suites would be, we would have stayed here for our entire trip. 6. Perfect location The location was ideal. The area was quiet, clean, and safe, while still being close to central attractions and convenient transportation options. Overall This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The facilities were excellent, the location was perfect, and most importantly, the people were genuinely kind and attentive. They helped make our baby's first birthday and our anniversary truly memorable. Highly recommended. We would absolutely stay here again."
