PB hotel design editorial

At the corner of Sloane Street and Chesham Place, where Belgravia's white stucco terraces give way to a more assertive mid-century commercial grain, a ten-storey building clad in white render and dark-framed glazing presents a facade that owes more to European modernism than to its Georgian neighbours. The Hari London, which opened in 2016 under the ownership of the Hari family's Universal Hotels group, commissioned Anouska Hempel — working under her design alias Lady Weinberg — to craft interiors that channel a distinctly masculine elegance rather than the floral softness that has long dominated Belgravia hospitality. The building's steeply pitched zinc roof, visible from the street, gives the upper floors a sculptural finish that softens its otherwise rectilinear geometry. Inside, Hempel's signature control of atmosphere is everywhere legible — the lobby lounge anchored by floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a tufted purple velvet sofa set against layered Persian kilims, and a burnished gold ceiling that pitches the light toward amber warmth. Guest rooms, across 85 keys, deploy cowhide rugs, quilted leather ottomans, and dark lacquered headboards flanked by brass-detailed bedside lamps, the palette swinging between deep claret and warm taupe depending on room category. The bar and restaurant, lined in dark lacquered green panels with exposed brick and geometric encaustic tile floors, carries the atmosphere of a well-worn Mayfair members' club rather than a hotel dining room.

"I recently stayed at The Hari London for one night and had a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, what stood out most was the quality of the customer service. Every member of staff I interacted with was welcoming, professional, and genuinely eager to help. It's rare to find a hotel where every interaction feels so personal and effortless, but The Hari managed exactly that. The team consistently went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect throughout my stay. I also had dinner in the restaurant and was extremely impressed. The starter, main course, and dessert were all excellent, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. It's often difficult for hotels to excel at both accommodation and dining, but The Hari certainly delivers on both fronts. The hotel itself was immaculate, stylish, and comfortable, creating a relaxing atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door. The attention to detail throughout the property reflects the pride the staff clearly take in providing a first-class guest experience. What made this stay memorable, however, was the people. Exceptional facilities are important, but outstanding customer service is what makes guests want to return, and The Hari has some of the best hospitality staff I've encountered in a long time. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and would highly recommend The Hari to anyone looking for a luxury hotel experience in London. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay such an enjoyable one."

"Stay at The Hari, you will not be disappointed. From start to finish the experience is a rare treat. You will be received with smiles and energy and this is maintained - miraculously - by all staff AND it is sincere. Nothing is too much trouble. Great location and a genuine boutique hotel atmospher - a home-from-home. Comfortable, super clean and so unusual to be treated like friends rather than a walking credit card."

"The hospitality at The Hari was incredible. The check in process was very convenient and there was excellent attention to detail at all levels of the service. The room had excellent amenities along with a comfortable bed and blackout blinds. The hotel was in great walking distance to incredible high end shopping, Buckingham Palace and other popular London sights. The atmosphere was both chic and relaxing, a great stay!"

"I came back to The Hari London and honestly, there is just something about this hotel that I really like. It is not the biggest or flashiest hotel in London, and that is probably exactly why it works so well. It feels personal, stylish, and a little tucked away in the best way. The location is perfect. You are close to Harrods and Chelsea, but when you come back to the hotel, it does not feel hectic at all. It has that rare London feeling of being central, but still calm and charming. The staff were excellent throughout my stay. Everyone I dealt with was warm and professional, but still natural, which I always appreciate. Housekeeping was also great, and the room was kept beautifully without me ever having to think about it. I stayed in the King Suite and absolutely loved it. It was the kind of room that makes you suddenly very uninterested in your plans outside the hotel. Beautiful, comfortable, and the marble bathroom with a park view was a real highlight. I also really enjoyed the Garden Terrace. It is a lovely little spot, and the doughnut balls genuinely deserve a mention because they were some of the best mini doughnuts I have had. A special thank you to Clara Silva for taking care of me during the stay and making sure that everything was perfect. This hotel is charming and has a team that clearly cares. Highly recommended."
