PB hotel design editorial

More than 250,000 hand-laid bricks went into the facade of The Hoxton, Shepherd's Bush — a fact that tells you everything about EPR Architects' intentions for this 2022 new-build. Where a 1950s office block once stood, EPR raised an eight-storey structure whose warm terracotta massing and glazed brick fins carry the feeling of an interwar warehouse or a considered civic building, something that belongs to its West London streetscape rather than arriving from outside it. The steel-framed grid windows, glimpsed here through the dappled canopy of a London plane tree, reinforce that sense of settled permanence — remarkable for a building that cost £35 million and took less than a decade of the neighbourhood's imagination to conjure. Inside, AIME Studios — Ennismore's in-house design team — translated Shepherd's Bush's entertainment heritage and the graphic boldness of vintage London Transport into 237 rooms and a series of bar and lounge spaces that feel more like a well-curated private members' house than a chain hotel. The lobby gathers burl wood tables, channelled mustard velvet club chairs, Pierre Jeanneret-influenced scissor seats, and large-scale abstract murals in burgundy and ochre into a room that pulses with mid-century confidence. Upstairs, bedrooms are finished in dusty rose with sculptural arched headboards in teal stripe fabric, wicker-shade lamps, and oversized crittall-style windows framing the rooftops of W12 — warmly domestic, precisely calibrated.

"Flesh out way more Stayed here in March 2025 while in London for a Loreen show and it ended up being the perfect base for the trip. First impressions were strong. The hotel has that modern, stylish Hoxton feel without trying too hard. It’s got personality the second you walk in — lively lobby, warm lighting, people coming and going, and a real “London buzz” without it feeling chaotic. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were genuinely friendly and switched on, not just going through the motions. My room was clean, well designed and comfortable. Not massive (very London), but it was laid out really cleverly so it never felt cramped. Bed was genuinely one of those you sink into after a long day and don’t want to leave. Blackout curtains worked well, which mattered after late nights out in the city. Bathroom was modern, spotless, and had a really good shower. Everything felt maintained properly, not tired or rushed. What I liked most were the small touches. The room felt thoughtful rather than generic — little details that made it feel like someone had actually considered the guest experience. It worked perfectly for a short stay where you’re out most of the time but still want somewhere comfortable to reset. Location is a big win. Shepherd’s Bush is brilliant for transport. Easy tube access meant I could get into central London quickly, and Westfield is right there for food, shopping, or just killing time between plans. It’s a really practical base but still has enough character in the surrounding area that it doesn’t feel like you’re stuck in a hotel bubble. The lobby bar was a highlight as well. Great atmosphere in the evenings, good place to have a drink before heading out or just decompress after a full day. It had that easy social energy without being loud or overwhelming. Overall, it worked perfectly for what I needed — a comfortable, stylish base in London for a music-focused trip. I’d happily stay again for gigs, weekends in the city, or just a change of scenery."

"Really enjoyed my stay at The Hoxton Shepherd’s Bush. I stayed with my wife while she was on a business trip, and we stayed on the 7th floor with such a nice view. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Big shout out to Kevin and Malika on the night shift — they were both amazing and really helpful. We had a noisy neighbour one night, but the staff and security dealt with it quickly and professionally, which we really appreciated. Would definitely stay here again!"
