PB hotel design editorial

That facade on Leicester Square — Portland stone punctuated by deep cobalt-glazed ceramic fins that catch and fracture light like folded origami — announces The Londoner's ambitions before you've crossed the threshold. Opened in 2021 and designed by Yabu Pushelberg with architecture by the Edwardian Hotels London development team, the 350-room property pushed eight floors above ground and six below, creating what its developers called a super boutique — a concept that trades the anonymous scale of the conventional luxury tower for something more akin to a private members' club mapped onto a full-service hotel. The interiors sustain that register throughout. Guest rooms are finished in wide-plank oak, grid-panelled walnut joinery, and warm taupe plaster walls, with Roberts radios on the nightstands and articulated black reading lamps that nod to Gras-style industrial fittings — domestic in feeling without pretending to be anything other than carefully designed. The restaurant's harlequin marble floor, tartan-upholstered tub chairs, and sinuous black wire ceiling installation give the dining spaces a specifically British personality, referencing club culture without the mustiness. Deepest underground, the spa pool is lined in pale limestone and flanked by timber-framed cabana alcoves with a coffered oak ceiling overhead — quiet, almost monastic, far removed from the West End bustle above.

"Ok tad expensive but service and the best breakfast service I’ve ever had and I’ve travelled. In my opinion just had two breakfasts of highest quality great fruit selection loved the grapes and orange combo😜 Had a meal on the roof also highly recommend. Have already looked at return dates."

"Alex and the team were great. We had difficulty reserving a table at a restaurant we were eager to try. The team made it happen. Credit to Alex and the team, really made our stay memorable. Highly recommend."

"From the moment we turned up at the hotel we were made to feel very welcomed, from the doorman to the housekeeping staff , everyone was friendly and professional at all times The hotel is opulent in decor and has lots of fabulous art. We were lucky to stay in a corner suite which certainly didn’t disappoint , everything in our room felt luxurious , the bedding was gorgeous , our bathroom was spacious and included a separate shower,, toilet cubicles and a roll top bath Lighting in the room was great , controlled by panels or the tv you could turn the lighting to your personal liking . Our room also had Dyson hairdryer , steamer and coffee machine We used the spa while we were there and it was lovely , clean and very relaxing The roof top bar is a must to have a drink as you can see over the London skyline or sit in a cosy fire pit area , the cocktails were very tasty We had access to hotel members areas where we could get complimentary non alcoholic refreshments and looked after by Sam who was very welcoming . This hotel had thought of everything with little touches to make your stay even better and I think what made our experience greater was the staff We can’t wait to return and I want to applaud this hotel , when hospitality has been having a hard time they have really stood out and made our stay one of the best we have had in London so thank you"

"Lovely hotel in perfect location for theatre land, although is expensive. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Particularly the residence bar, with excellent service from the professional, friendly staff including Scott, Shivangi, Sebastian & Monica who work very hard looking after the guests in a calm relaxing lounge environment the residents bar provides. Nice boutique rooms, which can feel a little dark at times. Suggestion - Unfortunately staff do not wear name badges, which makes it difficult to identify staff to comment about unless you ask them. It would also be helpful if staff did have name badges that also had flags on to help guests identify languages spoken by the staff"
