"Our family of four (two adults and two teenagers) spent five unforgettable nights at Six Senses Fiji on Malolo Island in the beautiful Mamanuca Islands, about a 45-minute boat ride from Port Denarau near Nadi International Airport. From the moment we stepped aboard the resort's boat, we knew this trip would be special. The ride across the turquoise Pacific was scenic, comfortable, and the perfect transition from the bustle of travel to the slower rhythm of island life. As the boat approached the resort's dock, we were welcomed with genuine Fijian warmth by General Manager Mark Kitchen and members of his executive team. It was not simply a welcome. It felt like we had arrived at someone's home. One of the most remarkable aspects of Six Senses Fiji is that every guest is assigned a personal Guest Experience Manager. Ours was Joe, and I honestly cannot imagine the vacation without him. Joe handled absolutely everything. Dinner reservations. Tennis court bookings and equipment. Special requests for our villa. Personalized recommendations. He even took us by golf cart to breathtaking hilltop viewpoints and arranged fascinating behind the scenes tours of the resort's sustainability operations. Every morning and throughout the day he seemed one step ahead of us, making sure every detail had already been taken care of before we even thought to ask. By the second day, we felt like nearly every member of the staff greeted us by name. Isaac, the “big man” at the beach and pool, always made sure we had towels, chairs, and whatever else we needed before we asked. Eli and the restaurant team remembered our favorite drinks and welcomed us like old friends each time we arrived for a meal. One evening, my daughter asked about a dessert that was not even on the menu. Rather than politely decline, the pastry chef, Nathan, quietly prepared it from scratch just for her. That simple gesture perfectly captures the culture at Six Senses Fiji. The accommodations were exceptional. We stayed in a beautiful private villa with its own plunge pool and an incredible outdoor shower. There is plenty to do such as outdoor movie nights (where they showed Castaway, which was filmed at a neighboring island), along with craft activities such as lei making and keychain workshops. We enjoyed the fitness center, and morning hilltop yoga, accompanied by the gentle sound of chimes, was a peaceful and rejuvenating way to start each day. We also experienced one of the finest couples massages we have ever had. The Fijian cultural night featured very energetic traditional music and dancing, culminating in a spectacular fire show with performers spinning flaming spears on the beach. One thing prospective guests should understand is that Six Senses is intentionally remote. Excursions to neighboring islands or other resorts are available, but they are extremely expensive. If you are the type of traveler who wants to spend every day hopping from island to island, this may not be the right destination. It honestly took us two or three days to adjust from our normal fast paced lifestyle. Once we finally embraced Fiji time, everything changed. Shoes stayed in the villa. Bare feet became normal. Afternoons were filled while swimming and snorkeling in crystal clear water, reading beside the pool, or simply watching spectacular sunsets over the Pacific. By the end of our stay, we genuinely did not want to leave. Another highlight is its commitment to sustainability. Guests can see the desalination facility, explore the extensive organic gardens, and visit the delightfully named Cluckingham Palace where the resident hens produce many of the eggs served each morning. The staff are genuinely proud of where they work and what they do. If I had one piece of advice for future guests, it would simply be this. Do not fight the pace. Embrace it. Put your phone away. Walk barefoot. Watch the sunset every evening. Talk to your family. Reconnect. I wholeheartedly recommend Six Senses Fiji for newlyweds, families wanting genuine time together, couples celebrating anniversaries, and anyone wishing to step away from the relentless pace of everyday life. Luxury properties can provide beautiful rooms. Great resorts provide great service. Six Senses Fiji does something rarer. It makes you feel like part of its family. We arrived as guests. From the moment our speedboat arrived to a welcome party singing to our villa, from the food to the spa, we could not have felt more at home and more cared for. But it was the staff that made our trip truly exceptional. Special thanks to our GEM, Marika, for taking such good care of our every need; to Sae our housekeeper for her attention to detail and loving approach, and to the restaurant staff Ema, Elenora, and Mala for welcoming us as if it was their own home and we were eating at their table. "We had a great family (13, one was 22 months old) experience, renting a 6 bedroom residence for 5 nights. The resort is lovely. The highlight was the staff - who are all very helpful. The best of the best was Sala who took care of us at almost every meal. She was delightful, friendly and helpful. Emily who took care of us at the residence was also incredibly helpful."
