"We stayed at this hotel shortly after its reopening as part of the COMO brand. Its location is excellent for anyone exploring the left bank, and the property itself is beautifully situated with a gorgeous pool and gym area. Perhaps if the hotel had disclosed that it was still in transition from the Cazes family ownership to the COMO brand and offered substantially reduced rates with a soft opening our expectations would have been different . However, they were fully booked while we were there in early June, furnishings were still being changed, drapes being hung, missing bedroom elements in our room never appeared during our stay, staff were being trained, etc. Service inconsistencies are understandable during a transition but we weren't quite prepared for the awkward breakfast service, no meaningful inquiries from the front desk about our stay, etc. Someone put it best when they said that it sounded like the hotel was not only unfinished, but that it lacked the emotional quality expected in Médoc hospitality; that of warmth, caring and a sense that guests are being personally cared for. The decor, while attractive and 'clean' is very restrained in in its color palette - all cool greys and white throughout with a variation on the same grey and white striped fabric used on every surface - it was minimalistic without any visual warmth, bare walls in the public areas and in our room, and not a piece of art to be found anywhere (perhaps it was unfinished?). It made the Cordeillan-Bages feel institutional and more like a 'hotel chain' or spa rather than a comfortable and welcoming property in the Médoc. It lacked warmth, a personal touch, and décor that invited lingering. Again, perhaps that has changed since our stay in early June. The COMO brand has an excellent reputation, and I hope that our experience and early issues during the transition will have been rectified since our stay, and that its stellar reputation from the original Cazes family ownership will be possible once again."

"We had read mixed reviews about the hotel and so we were not sure what to expect. We were very pleased. The location is excellent. The welcome was great (our room wasn’t ready so we sat and had a drink). Room 4. Very quiet, great air con, comfortable amenities and very good shower - coffee, mini bar and water - turn down with a chocolate. Breakfast is very good. We drank in the bar which was nice. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner but the menu looked nice. We read a review that the problem is the hotel is changing from Relais and Chateaux to COMO. We didn’t see that or agree with it. There were no building works or noise affecting our experience. We really enjoyed it. The staff are excellent."
