PB hotel design editorial

Puligny-Montrachet is among the most mythologised villages in France — a quiet cluster of golden Burgundian limestone buildings where some of the world's most coveted white wine is made, and where almost nothing of architectural ambition has been built for centuries. COMO Le Montrachet, set within an eighteenth-century manor house at the heart of the village, holds that tension carefully: a contemporary hotel brand known for spare, considered interiors finding its register within a deeply traditional vernacular. The aerial view confirms the property's embedded relationship with the village fabric, the manor's clay-tiled rooflines and dressed stone facades continuous with their neighbours, a glazed terrace canopy the only obvious intervention. Inside, the creative direction belongs to an approach that reworks French pastoral tradition rather than reverting to it. Toile de Jouy — in forest green and in monochrome — runs from bedroom wallcoverings through floor-length curtains and upholstered chair backs with an almost maximalist commitment, yet the rooms carry a graphic confidence that keeps sentimentality at bay. Tall sculpted headboards in moss-green velvet anchor the standard rooms; attic suites expose whitewashed timber roof trusses above rattan bed frames and marble side tables, the striped ottoman a deliberate shift in register. The lobby grounds everything in reclaimed Burgundian limestone flagstones and sage-painted beamed ceilings, deep teal armchairs clustered around a charcoal shag rug — a palette drawn directly from the surrounding vineyards across all four seasons.

"We stayed here 3 nights, never heard of this group of Hotels. The Hotel, the location, grounds, all excellent. The staff are excellent, dinner was superb every evening, breakfast adequate and what we had was good. Probably the quietest most effective in room air con ever ! Very relaxing mini break. Puligny Montrachet is a lovely picture postcard little place."

"Our second stay in this hotel as a family of 4. We stayed again in the 2 bedroomed suite, which was lovely. However, in the master ensuite, there is a bad drain/sewage smell that didn't get fixed. The hotel dinner is amazing and adapted well for our gluten-free needs. The pool and poolside service was fantastic. Breakfast for a gluten-free family was limited, and by day 4, we were all bored of it - other hotel's of this standard would normally offer to make our kids gluten-free pancakes, they did not. We rented ebikes for a day, which was a wonderful experience. The hotel has an EV charger that worked on arrival, and alas didn't work the day before we left. Make sure you book any experience/needs at least 24 hours in advance, they don't cope well with anything last minute and in fact we're quite rude when we turned up at 1830 for the advertised cellar tour, with a tone of blame as we hadn't booked a day in advance. They did, however, manage to arrange the cellar tour, which was a 15-minute event."

"We loved the old Montrachet and now after its makeover we love this too. Elegant room, French style, very comfortable. Restaurant superb food, quality of food and skill of chef first class. In a lovely burgundy village ideal for a stroll. The wines are superb but at an eye watering price."

"Beautiful building in a great location, with helpful staff and a wonderful restaurant, but the rooms are way overpriced. The suite we booked was gloomy and overlooked a walkway, so we "downgraded" to a regular room higher up in the main building. It was clean and nicely decorated, but very small for the price. Great shame as everything else was very enjoyable but I wouldn't return."
