PB hotel design editorial

Few facades on the Côte d'Azur carry as much accumulated mythology as the one Charles Dalmas raised along La Croisette between 1911 and 1913 — its twin black domes, said to have been modeled on the bust of a celebrated courtesan, presiding over Cannes ever since. The Carlton Cannes, A Regent Hotel, is set within that landmark structure, classified as a Historical Monument since 1989, and the weight of that inheritance made its €350 million, two-year restoration one of the most consequential hospitality projects in recent French history. Restoration architect Richard Lavelle held the envelope intact while Tristan Auer worked through the interiors, and the dialogue between them is the defining tension the property navigates. Auer's hand is evident in the bar, where warm travertine floors, dark lacquered ceiling beams, blush velvet armchairs, and a cascade of white Murano glass chandeliers produce something closer to a Parisian grand salon than a hotel lounge. The 332 rooms and suites strike a quieter register: plaster-white paneling, arched windows framing the Mediterranean, bespoke geometric carpets in cream and copper, and cane-backed headboards in ebonised frames that draw a clean line back to 1930s French modernism without costuming themselves in it. A private jetty beach club with striped canvas loungers extends the property toward the Esterel hills on the horizon. When the Carlton Cannes reopened on 13 March 2023, it returned not as a restored relic but as a building that had found, at last, an interior equal to its facade.

"The Carlton without Aida just isn’t the Carlton anymore. It’s like Paris without the Eiffel Tower. She truly is the heart and soul of the place! Walah"

"We would like to sincerely thank Sebastien from the Valet Team for going the extra mile in making sure our cars were taken care of and handed over properly. He even assisted us in contacting the driver who will pick up the cars and we didnt even ask him for it. He answers very fast, very clear and with complete information so we always didnt have to worry. He even shared photos of cars being handed over to the pick up. It is always good to have a very reliable staff. Thank you so much Sebastien. We would also like to thank the Guest Relations Team Cathy, Joanna and to all for all the help."

"Im staying in the hotel for 2 weeks and im still there..unfortunately when i wanted to have coffee they said its only for hotel guests i told them im a hotel guest and i know many of people in sitting who are not a hotel guests..her answer was sorry but they are the hotel manager friends!!!wow so its better to be a friend of the manager than to be a hotel guest!! I pay 2000 euros per night and i cant have a coffee in the lobby!! The other thing, they sent a sparking ice tea to the room and the ice was melted so i ask the housekeeper to replace it..another guy came with ice bucket And asked me to pay 10 euros for the ice!!!i told him ill not py and you can have your ice back! It should be complementary..he said by next year it will be free!!!"

"We had a perfect one week holiday with our extended family spread over 6 rooms. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Food and beverages are excellent from breakfast to lunch and dinner. The fireworks dinner on the pier was an incredible experience. The only improvement would be the terras set up at the beach bar. Seats are not comfortable and inviting. Furthermore for an hotel with this standing and allure they should really cancel the dj's and their load music. We prefer conversation when having an afternoon drink with light background music. When speaking to the manager he told us it was part of the Carlton beach concept. They're are already to many loud (festive) places on the Croisette. Carlton is in a class of its own and does not need to compete with those venues."
