PB hotel design editorial

Perched on the Montagne de Reims above the UNESCO-listed Champagne vineyards of Champillon, with the Marne valley unfolding in every direction below, the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa was rebuilt and reopened in 2018 on the foundations of an eighteenth-century coaching inn that once served the postal road between Paris and Reims. The new low-rise structure, designed by local architectural practice Patriarche, steps along the hillside in pale limestone and timber-screened volumes, its horizontal layering calibrated to hold the panorama rather than compete with it. Interiors were handled by the Paris studio of Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who anchored the 49 rooms and suites in a palette drawn directly from the landscape outside — warm tawny golds, chalky whites, and vine-row greens translated into large-scale botanical wallcoverings, oak parquet floors, and brass disc wall sculptures clustered in constellations above upholstered wingback chairs. The dining room carries the most theatrical gesture in the building: a canopy of Baccarat-style crystal chandeliers suspended over herringbone parquet and plum velvet armchairs, a mural of equestrian figures lending the room a faint Napoleonic charge appropriate to this corridor of French imperial history. From the infinity pool, the Marne valley stretches toward Épernay in a sweep of chalky soil and regimented vines that makes the view itself feel like the main amenity — one the building, wisely, does very little to interrupt.

Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa Reviews

"Absolute rubbish!! Arrived with friends today for a 5-night treat at Royal Champagne hotel - we were told it was best hotel in region. Day 1 - arrival was great, room was lovely, facilities were also good. However we had pre-booked ‘casual’ dining option in restaurant only to be sat next to ignorant woman who was constantly speaking on FaceTime & playing social media videos loudly. We couldn’t have a conversation around our table & it was a horrible experience. I complained to managers TWICE during our starter course, serving staff advised me they had also been informed it was an issue & we’re monitoring the situation. THEN my husband complained for the 3rd time just before our main courses were served …. Then a female manager offered to move us to another table half way through our main course. Argh NOOOOOOOO … why were we being moved? - especially as we were half way through physically eating our €600 dinner!!!! At the end of the meal, as we were paying our bill, a male Manger apologized and said - & I quote “sorry for the disturbance but there was NOTHING we could do” …. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Sitting in the best hotel in Champagne region, eating a €600 meal & theres “NOTHING” you can do??? How bout being firm on what ‘IS’ and ‘ISNT’ acceptable in a public space within your establishment. I’m so angry I just want to checkout & go to a better hotel where the staff actually care about real customers. So in summary - if you want the glossy postcard FAKE champagne region experience stay here. If you want a classy French experience go somewhere else. This hotel is just marketing for social media climbers & not real people who value class, sophistication & a genuine experience."

"We stayed here for two nights on a driving tour of France. It’s a beautiful hotel with stunning views of the vineyards. The staff are excellent - very friendly, professional and with excellent English. We had a lovely room and enjoyed the spa and excellent dining options. It is expensive but you get what you pay for and we would definitely return."

"We stayed at the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa as part of our France trip. When we arrived, we were greeted very warmly by Julie who took care of us very lovely. The suite was wonderful. We had a large bedroom and living area and a great bathroom. It was comfortably furnished. Especially the bed was very cozy. The view of the vineyards was fantastic. The breakfast was excellent. They offer a wide selection of delicious dishes. We want to highlight the fantastic spa. You can relax on the lounge chairs by the large pool area. Royal Champagne offers a wide selection of wellness treatments. We visited champagne cellars in Reims and Éperney and took part in champagne tastings. We highly recommend a stay at the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa!"
