PB hotel design editorial

At the upper edge of Courchevel 1850, where the resort's most coveted ski-in, ski-out positions command the Bellecôte piste, La Sivolière has spent decades refining what it means to feel genuinely at home in the Alps rather than merely well-accommodated. The property's exterior presents as a cluster of traditional Savoyard chalets — aged larch cladding, deep-pitched snow roofs, rubble stone bases — warmed from within by amber light that spills across the forecourt at dusk, where a bold red sculpture by the entrance signals that the hotel's relationship with contemporary art sits comfortably alongside its mountain vernacular. The 38-room property is family-owned and carries that intimacy through every decision, from the scale of its volumes to the tone of its service. Inside, the interiors move between two registers with considerable confidence. Guest rooms are lined in reclaimed spruce with exposed ridge beams and nailhead-trimmed upholstered headboards set flush against the timber walls; bedside tables in brushed brass and velvet-upholstered benches in abstract-printed fabric add a knowing refinement without disturbing the warmth of the wood. The bar and lounge shift the mood entirely — a curved sectional in dark moss velvet, teal fluted-tile columns, oxidised copper wall panels behind the bar, and a black marble-topped brass coffee table create an atmosphere closer to a sophisticated city cocktail lounge than an alpine refuge. The indoor pool, edged in Carrara marble with black-steel Crittal-style glazing, completes the picture with similar precision.

"Gorgeous hotel. Beautiful view of the eiffel tower from our room which made it feel extra special. Clean, spacious room with comfortable bed and pillows. Large bathroom with super soft towels and toiletries included. Its about a 10-15 minute walk from eiffel tower and really easy access to most other landmarks and transport. The breakfast service was lovely with delicious fresh omelettes, orange juice and pastries. Only 2 very small niggles: 1. When our neighbours came in and out of their room it was very loud, a few times I actually thought someone was coming into our room (couldn't hear them otherwise) And 2. I struggled to keep the room warm (but perhaps it was a particularly cold May in Paris) Overall a wonderful stay, highly recommend and would definitely love to go back!"

"The rooms were like most in good locations in Paris very small and that was offset somewhat by extremely efficient layout. Electric outlets by each side of the bed even in this small room and one at the Tiny Desk also. Internet on Wi-Fi was fantastic speed plenty good enough to download large files from work. In spite of tiny room shower was very reasonable size and plenty of hot water with good controls. Reception and other staff were very friendly except one that was the night staff on holiday so maybe she wasn't so happy about working. Or she just had a bad day. We paid over 500 euro per night and I thought that would be one of their larger rooms but I'm guessing not. If I had it to do over again I would try to get a larger room for another hundred dollars if possible. But this room served the purpose well and was always clean and air conditioning work so well that we had to turn it off a couple of times. I'd rather have that and the room being too hot. I hope this is helpful."

"An absolute great experience! The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. Forgive me for the spelling of her name, but Eminie? Emily? at the front desk was amazing! She went above and beyond at our check in and during our stay. And the room was absolutely beautiful! The room had a view that you could only dream of! We can’t wait to return Paris and we will 100% be staying at this hotel again!"
