Jiva Hill Resort, which took shape on a private estate with its own golf course and orchard, was conceived as a retreat that keeps the surrounding terrain legible at every turn — the buildings staying deliberately horizontal, their warm-toned timber cladding weathering into the meadow edge rather than asserting any civic presence. The interiors carry through the same sensibility without becoming austere. Rooms are lined floor-to-ceiling in richly grained American walnut, the millwork precise enough to read as furniture rather than cladding, with cognac leather armchairs and semi-circular pendant lights in blackened steel providing warmth against the pale linen bedding. Roof suites gain volume through pitched skylights that pull mountain light deep into the timber shell. On the restaurant terrace, wide teak decking and canvas parasols on lacquered timber poles frame an unbroken view across the fairways to the wooded ridge beyond — a composition closer to a private villa than a resort hotel. The dark-tiled outdoor pool, set within a teak deck and flanked by a cedar-clad bar pavilion, maintains the same material discipline: natural, unfinished, entirely at ease with where it finds itself.
